  1. WhatIf didn't quite work out as planned, so we'll do a regular season like the NBA draft; each GM will 'sell' us on his team and once that's done, PM me your ranks of each team (1-14), and the top eight teams will make the 'playoffs'. I haven't quite worked out a playoff scheme yet, but I'm thinking something along the lines of assigning three or four guys to roundtable each series.
  2. I'm still torn between two forwards, so I'll let the rest of you decide for me, and I'll lock up my backup goalie. Might be a bit of a stretch in an all-time draft, but plenty of pedigree, and a fine junior career. Roberto Luongo.
  3. God dammit. Even though I knew he wouldn't make it back to me, I was hoping for Clark. Tocchet's a good pick, too.
  4. Alright, I still need some defencemen, and I'd like a tough guy before I add a goon. Not very offensive (except to Punch Imlach), but a great hitter, and a tough guy. He came back into overtime to score the winner in Game 6 of the 64 Cup Finals after breaking his ankle in the first period. Gentlemen, Bob Baun.
  5. You really didn't remember Guy Smiley? I don't know how to specifically open Guy Smiley's pic, but it's like, halfway down
  6. Bad News Baseball > RBI. And I'm convinced my NES collection included games no one else in the world but me played.
  7. Donald's your boy.
  8. I really like the arena idea.
  9. Yes. I don't think I want Pat Verbeek as high as he went; I'm sure we all have a few. Sorry.
  10. Luongo might bail out Vancouver....but that wasn't the case in Miami. Edit: Sorry. What Barron said.
  11. July 3-6: AT&T National, Congressional CC, Bethesda, MD. KJ Choi July 10-13: John Deere Classic, TPC Deere Run, Silvis, IL. Jonathan Byrd July 17-20: The Open Championship, Royal Birkdale, Lancashire, UK. Padraig Harringon July 17-20: US Bank Championship in Milwaukee, Brown Deer Park GC, Milwaukee. Joe Ogilvie July 24-27: RBC Canadian Open, Glen Abbey G&CC, Oakville, Ontario. Jim Furyk The voiceover guy for PGA Tour Today on their website used to do voiceovers for the WWF. Check that shit out. Also, with the piece on Golf Central about Monty yesterday, discuss something I was thinking: More ridiculous bogey from the 18th fairway on Sunday? Monty at the 06 US, or Norman at the 87 Masters. Anyone else unimpressed with Hunter Mahan's comment about any major wins needing an asterisk "just like the Houston Rockets in 94 and 95"?
  12. Long gone. Sorry, pick again. Hell, pick twice. You still have no 17th rounder.
  13. That's because you have me down as picking Guy Carbonneau (which I did not). I should only have 17 on my roster. Remedied. Disregard what's in bold, it's Nskie's 18th pick, with everything officially in order, save TakerHart, who can still make his 17th pick anytime.
  14. You're thinking of RedBaron, who, will in fact, be there. I'm workin all week, but being new to town, I think I have to go.
  15. You'd think I would have noticed the juxtaposition, considering I pointed out how you hadn't picked a coach yet. Yeesh.
  16. Facts and figures: - It's Treble's pick in Round Eighteen. MFer somehow has made his 18th-round pick already. So, like when I jumped the gun earlier, his pick will still stand, but he's skipped, and we'll go from Nskie straight to Gert. - We're fine to go back to the 12-hour clock for the remaining two-and-a-half rounds. - Gert, EMHE, and JJ still have no team names. - I thought we'd see pretty well nothing but backup goalies in the 20th round, but EMHE, Gert, MFer, and Treble only have forwards left to pick. Max would fit into this if he had picked a coach. - He's one of four teams still without one: Goblin, Nskie, and CanadianChris are the others. - Conversely, CG and Angle both have at least one pick to make for each on-ice position, and similarly, Nskie only has goalies fully represnted. - More proof that it's a defence-first draft: CanadianChris, TakerHart, Goblin, and Max also have their defence corps represented in full.
  17. Shit! He wasn't gone yet? I completely overlooked him, assuming someone must have taken him already. Shit.
  18. I've heard a variety of tales like that too, the constant being that he lost his IC Title to the Mountie so he wouldn't run off with it, and the subsequent Mountie/Piper runs were to restructure his contract. I've heard that's bullshit, too. I'm gonna sound like a huge Bret mark here (although I am), but he didn't mention anything about leaving for WCW at that point in his book, in which he was awfully honest.
  19. First, I'll take a wildly entertaining match from ECW on TNN. It was actually filmed before Credible's successful defence of the Heavyweight title over Tommy Dreamer at Heatwave '00, but aired the following Friday. They slightly botched the finish, but it was a cool spot, and Tajiri's kicks were even easier to believe with Credible battered from the barbed wire the previous Sunday. Justin Credible vs. Tajiri, ECW Title, ECW on TNN, July '00. I'll start the final round off with a forgettable match, save the last 15 seconds. From January 2003 on Smackdown, Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar. This.
  20. QFT. The last seven picks have now made me cross off four of the five guys on my short list (Muller, Probert, Richer and Middleton). I'm expecting the fifth to be taken any minute now. This, though swap Probert for Manson in my case.
  21. Sadly, you're right. He's not goin anywhere.
  22. Text from my Leaf-fan brother today: "Leafs resign Cujo. Nikolai Borshevsky's agent is playing hardball, though"
  23. I'm confused by this cap as well; Is there a bonafide 'revenue sharing' program in place in any form? If that's not the case, convince me this steadily-climbing cap is good business.
