The problem is the fans still know that Gibson is going to lose the title real soon. There is no genuine uncertainty over how long he'll keep the belt, because the RoH fans know it won't be for long, if that.

Bigelow started using the GfAP in ECW in 1997. I don't believe Muto as ever wrestled as himself outside of Japan, but I might be wrong on that. Steamboat's finisher was usually a flying bodypress off the top rope. Autin debuted in WCW in June of 1991, and won the TV title almost right away. The TV title was around in this time period.

I wouldn't mind Gibson getting the belt for a short-term reign if it wasn't the second consecutive short-term reign in the belts lineage.

Why do they keep blaming Bischoff for WCW failing?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to zyn081's topic in General Wrestling
Nash was the wrong person to end Goldberg's streak, and the timing was wrong as well, because the streak and Goldberg were still over big. Nash only ended the streak because he was the booker and because he wanted to take away what made Goldberg special. In time, yes, the streak should have been broken, but Starrcade '98 was not the time to do it, and Nash sure was not the person to do it. His motivations for breaking the streak were purely selfish, and had nothing to do with doing the right thing for business. -
I know you're a blind Hogan mark jf, but you do realise that everything that comes out his mouth is a work don't you? Someone else let me know what he says in reply; I've got him on Ignore, and can't see what he posts.

The Worst Thread Going Today
Hunter's Torn Quad commented on a blog entry in I post on TSM and all I got was this lousy blog.
I know who you're talking about, and he proves he is an Uber-Dumbass with just about every post he makes. That thread is just filled with people who don't know what they are talking about, but are blindly going about their idiotic way thinking that they do. -
I just watched Royal Rumble 1992

Nobody is saying Raw should do that. We're just saying a couple of squash matches here and there would help. -

I'd rather not have Heidenreich and Animal as a team at all, but if they have to be used, it's best they run over jobbers rather than beat anyone with a name. -

A big part of the problem is due to them doing away with squash matches. When they had squash matches, when the big names finally met, the people were seeing two guys wrestle who they had rarely seen lose, if they had seen them lose at all. They hadn't seem them lose, so they had an aura about them, and they hadn't been tainted with a bunch of losses. Now when two guys meet, thanks to every match being a feature match, you're seeing two guys wrestle who, almost without exception, have lost at least half the matches you've seen them in. Watching two guys wrestle who have both lost half their matches doesn't have the same juice as watching two guys wrestle who have won almost all, if not all, of their matches. Granted it was different era back then, but the point remains that the guys who we paid to see on PPV were generally unbeaten, or we had only see them lose once or twice, if that. With no competition to worry about, WWE can afford to use a few more squash matches here and there. As long as they don't go more than 2-3 minutes, what have they got to lose? It's not like people can tune over Nitro anymore. -
I thought the ppv's were $29.95? (like it's a big difference) It's the first TNA show that I plan on "buying" live. It's just the turnaround time for me getting the shows from friends is so long, most times it's not worth it to me. Hell, if I find something better to do on sunday evening, I may not end up getting the show and just comment on the end results. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, it's $29.95, plus whatever fees and taxes apply. Like I said, I won't be ordering the PPV because of the Jarrett Factor, but the matches that are taking place have so much potential, that I might wind up changing my mind at the last minute. Normally, I obtain PPV's the next day, but the last few TNA PPV's haven't been up until almost a week after the event, and that's never been the case with even the worst WWE PPV.

You picked the worst time to start TSM Radio. You've convinced yourself it's now your duty to pay $34.95 to watch Jeff Jarrett stroke his ego. Schmuck.

TNA going all out for Bound for Glory
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to TNABaddboi's topic in TNA Wrestling
Once upon a time, we all felt the same way about HHH, and he's jobbed more than anybody but HBK recently. Not putting Jarrett in their category talent wise, but stroke wise I'd say he's up there. Stranger things have happened. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There is a difference between jobbing to someone and putting them over. Case in point being Jarrett losing to AJ at Hard Justice. He jobbed to AJ, but the only person put over was Tito Ortiz. Outside of their HIAC match, Hunter jobbed to Batista, but didn't really put him over, because of how the first two matches were worked. -

I don't see Jarrett jobbing clean at all, no matter how big the PPV. -
HTQ on Day Six of the G1 Climax Tournament
Hunter's Torn Quad commented on a blog entry in Straight Shooting
I'd have booked Kawada stronger than Akiyama, as I'll show when the real G1 is finished. Whoever is booking the G1 certainly didn't do it with good business sense in mind, that's for sure. Having Kashin get squashed by Chono after upsetting Kawada snuffed out whatever Kashin gained from the win, and made Kawada look even weaker, after he lost to a guy who then went on to get destroyed with ease. -
It was a diving headbutt/lariat like move, but he wouldn't have done it in the US. He didn't have to. All he had to do was brawl away, so he had no need to pull out the big stuff.
-
hmmm I may have them leave at the times that they really did leave, only achieve more with them before they go... maybe a Jericho who won the US title at Starrcade 98 would be more likely to return to WCW in early 2000 after becoming dellusioned by having to job to Chyna repeatedly in late 99..... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jericho couldn't come back until either 2001 or 2002, has he signed a two or three year deal. This has been interesting to read, but the booking hasn't been very realistic or logical in places, and I'd take issue with these points: A Texas Death match would never be given away on free tv, especially on the same show as a falls count anywhere match. The back-to-back-to-back World tag title changes would never have happened. One short term title reign might happen, but not two. The Road Warriors losing a Chicago Street Fight would never happen. They really didn't like doing jobs as it is, but there is zero chance they would have agreed to lose a Chicago Street Fight. Similar deal in regards to the Skyscrapers losing to the Andersons. No way Sid does a job without being protected a lot more than that. His ego wouldn't allow him to lose off of just a lowblow. He'd have thrown a huge fit, and demanded more. If Zenk is not a heel, then there never would be a babyface v babyface title match. Bam Bam would never job on tv, over working in Japan. He'd lose by countout or DQ, but he'd never agree to lose via pinfall, even if it was a fluke loss. Sting using the Scorpion Death Drop. I can see why you did it, but it wouldn't have happened in 1990. Muta going 57 minutes would never be ****3/4. Muto, yes, but not Muta. The Hansen debut on Luger would never happen like that, and he absolutely would not have used a tope suicida. Cactus/Sullivan v Nasties? Again, I can see why you did it, but it just reeks of booking stuff from the future for no reason other than because you can. Bam Bam wouldn't job on tv, and he absolutely wouldn't job on PPV. With the guys in from Japan, like BBB and Hansen, they would never job clean, and the best you would be able to get out of them is a highly disputed finish. like with the Hansen v Luger Texas Lariat match at Starrcade 1990. Johnny Ace using the Ace Crusher? Pass. He didn't use that until Japan, and again it's that booking future stuff now just because you can. Like I said, it's been interesting to read, but there have been too many booking decisions that have been unrealistic or illogical for me to really get into it.

You are not wrong. The plan was for Hunter v Nash at Summerslam. I believe the idea then was for Hunter to go through the nWo until finally facing Shawn.

Whatever good came from Undertaker losing to Brock at HIAC was offset by Undertaker treating him like a bitch in their first match the month before. Lesnar should have been the physically dominant one in that match, and he for sure should never have been casually tossed through the entrance set-up like he was some scrub.

Why do they keep blaming Bischoff for WCW failing?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to zyn081's topic in General Wrestling
Norton was never more then average, if that. He was fortunate enough to work with some great wrestlers, who made him look far better than he actually was. He had little charisma, if that, and he sure never had the 'it' factor. His attitude was terrible, he hated selling (witness his no-sell of a 4 Horseman beatdown on Nitro one time), and he always did jobs in a manner that undercut the guy meant to go over. Whatever positives he may have had, they were more than offset by the overwhelming negatives. -
HTQ on Day Six of the G1 Climax Tournament
Hunter's Torn Quad commented on a blog entry in Straight Shooting
A lot of my interest in this years G1 was due to Kawada being involved, but some of that interest has been lost over how Kawada has been booked. I can understand the New Japan mindset over Kawada having to lose at least one match, even though I wouldn't have had him lose at all, but I don't get the logic in having him lose to Kashin, and then have Kashin get squashed. It would have been better for Kawada to lose, if he had to, to the guy who was going to win their group, so at least he lost to someone strong. As it is, I think some of the shine was taken off of Kawada by losing to a guy who then got squashed. I'm not a fan of Kashin, but if he was chosen to beat Kawada, he should not have then got squashed, even if it was by Chono. The difference in the blocks, with one being very even and the other being dominated by one or two people is interesting, but I wouldn't have done it quite like that. I'm not keen on Fujita getting the superpush either, but as IWGP Champion, I think he should get pushed strong, because he is ace of the promotion, and I think the ace should be kept strong, and I think with how the IWGP belt has been treated for the past two years, it needs to be rebuilt, and that means a strong push for Fujita, like it or not. As for who will win it, I think it's obvious that Fujita is the one this year. I guess there is an outside chance he'll lose to Tenzan in the finals, but I think this year that Fujita is winning the G1. This years G1 has been interesting in terms of booking, but I don't think it's been booked as good as it could have been and should have been. I'll still look forward to watching it, as there are a number of matches that I'm very interested in seeing. I've written down how I would have booked this years G1, and once the real G1 is finished up, I'll post how I would have laid things out. -
I agree with your disagreement. However, is TNA looking to sign all these guys? If not, then slapping them into one match really isnt diluting the impact of them. Also the current TNA fanbase is internet smarks, i would assume a large majority of them have already been exposed to Lethal, Sydal and Strong. So are you really dliuting their impact? By that I assume you meant "giving them a chance to stand out". If they don't plan on using them beyond this sunday night, I cant quite see how it hurts to use those three in a harmless six man opener. If they do intend to use them further, then don't debut them together but they should be used because they were told they would be booked for Sunday and all 4 of those guys on the list are flying in from Chicago to the show. So unless they only offered one ticket to the winner of the poll, they likely booked all of them a ticket. They should be used in some capacity to justify the plane tickets. I am going to order this show on the basis of AJ/Joe, Aries/Daniels, Waltman/Lynn and the six man tag match. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If TNA have no plans for using these guys beyond Sacrifice, then it wouldn't be so bad to use them all in the same match. However, even if they don't, it might still be wise to hold off on debuting one or more of them, because it would still allow for each one to have a better chance of being identified with or taken to by the fans. While the majority of the paying TNA fans are internet fans, and are already aware of the Lethal, Sydal and Strong, their live fans aren't internet fans and so have no idea who these guys are. If any of these three have a chance of catching the eyes of the fans on their debut, and I think Strong would be the most likely one of those due to his style, then it would be best to debut them in a singles match so as to capitalize on that potential. As for ordering the show, I want to, and I would if I had any faith at all that it wouldn't end with Jeff Jarrett standing tall at the end, or in some way taking the spotlight. I was considering ordering No Surrender, but declined for the same reason, and I was right, because had I ordered it, even though it was a really good show, it still would have ended on a major downer for me with it ending with Jarrett standing tall over everyone and the main focus of things.
-
I disagree with debuting three wrestlers in one match. A debuting wrestler best gets over if they are the only new guy in the match. Too many new guys in one match dilutes the impact of each of them.

Sid and released WWE talent heading in?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Carnival's topic in TNA Wrestling
Even if he thinks he is getting the win back in the third match, Sid still wouldn't put Abyss over the right way in the second match. He'd kick out right at the three count or pull some stunt like that. In any event, Sid can't sell for shit, so it's not like he has the ability to put Abyss over, even if he was willing to.
