Sid and released WWE talent heading in?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Carnival's topic in TNA Wrestling
Which would result in Sid walking out. Sid isn't going to put anyone over. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hence only one or two matches, he'd walk out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But he wouldn't put anyone over in those matches, which cancels out the idea of having him put someone else over. -

Sid is infinitely worse than all of them. -

Sid will stick around until he gets asked to put someone over, most likely Raven or Jarrett, and then he'll walk. -

What happened here? -
Unless Vince does something stupid, which is always likely, SD will be around until at least the fall of next year when the contract with UPN runs out. After that, while anything is possible, it's most likely that SD will move to somewhere else.

Raw is more secure financially, but with many more marketable/pushed names on Raw on the heel side, the payoffs at the top have to be divided between more people. While the SD brand might not draw the level of money that Raw does, the lack of top level heels means the top level payoffs don't have to be divided between so many people. There is also the security that comes with your position at the top being virtually locked in stone. On Raw, any one of the pushed heels could be moved up the ladder, and then JBL would move down. On SD, with the possible exception of Randy Orton, there is nobody there to move up and force JBL to move down, and thus make him lose out on payoffs. JBL might be able to get more money, in the short term, on Raw, but long term, he's better of on SD where the payoffs might not be as rich, but he's got a better chance of getting the biggest payoffs.
-
I wouldn't be so sure. With the lack of depth of marketable talent, or names that creative are willing or able to push, the very worst JBL would be is the number two heel, though he'd likely be the number one heel. On Raw, with Angle, Edge and Carlito getting heel pushes, and Hunter going to resume his monster push when he comes back, JBL would be the number two heel at best, and the number five heel at worst. He's the top dog on Smackdown, and will be for a very long time it seems, and I don't think he'd be willing to give up such a secure position, even if SD is considered the inferior brand internally.

Shawn Michaels did more than one Raw promo during 1997 where he sounded like he was on something. Jake Roberts at the HoW PPV in 1999 was beyond drunk.
-
All Bagwell had going for him was his look. He was moderately talented, if that, and anything else he had going for him was offset by his terrible attitude. And if WWE fire you for your attittude, you know it's a bad attitude.
-
I doubt he would have got a God Push, but it would have been a decent one.
-
Yes, he was.

It should be pointed out that there is enough suspicion about certain people within Turner knowing people with WWE that a lot of people are of the opinion that there was zero chance of WCW being sold to anyone other than Vince.
-
Ironically, this applies to Cena. As soon as he officially turned babyface, his raps turned into lame comedy, and were nothing like they were when he was a heel, which was one of the things that got him over.

McGuiness isn't really that big. I think Regal is taller and heavier, and he is nowhere near being a hoss. -

During Franklin's title win over Evan Tanner, Joe Rogan said that UFC were going to try and put a Franklin v Hughes fight together to play off of their coaching roles. Does anybody know if that is still going to happen? -
Why do they keep blaming Bischoff for WCW failing?

I think the earliest Hogan could have left during the MNW era would have been at the start of 1997, as there was talk of Hogan jumping at that point, but that got shot down as Vince wasn't wanting him back. That would have been interesting, though, with Hogan and Shawn at his worst in the same locker room. -

Bischoff's main problem was that he thought that as long as he had Hogan, he'd never be in trouble. Eric would never do anything to risk losing Hogan, because he was convinced that all he really needed was Hogan, and everything else would work out. -
January 11th, 1994.

They knew at least before Hogan returned, as they began the build to Rock v Hogan the next night. I would think Austin told them at least a month or so before, seeing as Austin v Hogan was the match they were wanting to go for, and it would have been bandied about before signing Hogan. I don't know what the plan for Rock was. I know Austin wanted to work with Angle, because he liked and trusted Angle and knew the two would have a good to great match. That got turned down because it was felt they had done the match too much at the time.

I'll be reading this as well. Loss and I have been batting around ideas for something like this, based on Ric Flair being able to lure the WWF names he was after, as head booker, and being able to keep Steamboat.
-
Before, during and after the match, the cameras kept focusing on a big group of kids in the audience, so it was aimed at kids, but I don't know the specifics. I think it was based on some kind of comic.

I never said life is just about money; I think the opposite to that, actually. I said business is about making the most money you can. If you're in business, or in wrestling, for any other reason, you're an idiot.

If New WCW had been born, they should have worked with TBS/TNT in order to give the product a feel that fitted in with the station they were on. With what they've got on now, New WCW would be a gritty realism-based product, with no OTT nonsense.
