His corner seemed to disagree with that statement.
-
The judges all had it for Hatton, giving it to him by anything from 1 to 5 rounds.
-
Tszyu's corner pulled him from the fight. Hatton did it.

Some interesting Survivor Series 1997 stuff

A lot of people aren't understanding the difference between doing a job for someone and putting them over. Shawn did a job for Daivari a couple of months ago on Raw, but you'd be clueless if you thought he put him over. When Shawn beat Benjamin in the Gold Rush match, he put him over, because of how he acted during the match and at the end to get across how tough the match was, and in an interview the week later, where he praised Benjamin. Sure, it would have been nice for Benjamin to kick out of a bunch of big moves as well, but it was the best we're going to get. The bottom line is that you can beat someone and put them over huge, and you can lose to someone and not put them over a lick. Doing a job for someone doesn't automatically mean you've put them over, and I really wish more people could grasp this very simple concept. -
Steamboat was in from March to August of 1991. He left over a dispute with McMahon. They wanted him to do two squash jobs for IRS and Undertaker at a tv taping, both times getting stretchered out. Steamboat refused, feeling that, not only was it disrespectful to treat someone of his stature like that on tv, but that doing the stretcher job twice in a row on tv would expose the business. He had no problem doing jobs at house shows, but Steamboat refused to go along with this. At the time, Steamboat had been told they were going to start a program, his first during this run, with Ted DiBiase, and they felt by refusing to do the stretcher jobs, he was screwing up their plans. Quite how that works out, I'm not sure, especially considering that if it was that important for IRS and Undertaker to stretcher someone out, they could have put anyone in that spot. In any event, Vince took exception to Steamboat's actions, and they parted ways. There was some legal action from Steamboat later on over the contract dispute that resulted, I believe. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So Steamboat refused to do ANY jobs on TV? Because I noticed that he had a nearly perfect record during his '91 WWF stint. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think he refused to do jobs on TV, just those two specific jobs, because of how they were laid out. In any event, if had refused to do jobs before then, it was clearly something Vince didn't feel like doing anything about.

Jarrett paid most of his talent anything from $25 to $100 a date, depending on how high up the card they were. Wrestlers also didn't get paid for doing the TV, as Jarrett had the mindset that he was giving the wrestlers exposure, and so he shouldn't have to pay them for that.

I'm not sure what Horn has done in the UFC recently to earn a title shot. Then again, I'm still trying to work out how Justin Eilers got a shot at the Interm Heavyweight title when he his last UFC fight saw him do a shoot Flair flop after getting knocked silly by Paul Buentello. -

There was zero chance of Bret showing up on Nitro, and less than a zero chance of him showing up with the WWF Title belt. To do so would have opened up Bret and Eric to legal action that Vince would have won, and neither Bret nor Eric were going to do that.

From your statement about his influence, it just read like you thought he had none is all. As for who would leave with Jarrett if he went to form another promotion to make himself the star of, I'd say it would be the people who both genuinely believe he should be the top star, because he will be the top star of his new group, and those who have more faith in him and Jerry, and who buy into their spin. Common sense, however, says that both sides need to get their egos in check, Jeff especially, and realize that for this venture to work it needs everyone to work together, or they’ll never succeed at making any kind of challenge to Vince somewhere down the road.

It's accepted, in kayfabe, that when a wrestler taps out he's going to tap out in a certain manner, usually furiously on the mat like Shawn did at WM XXI. Therefore, a referee, in kayfabe, wouldn't mistake a wrestler moving his hands for an actual tap out. For a UFC comparison, check out the ending moments of Couture v Ortiz from UFC 44, when Couture is spanking Ortiz. It looks like a tap out, but the referee knew enough to realise that it wasn't an actual tap out.

Jeff absolutely has influence over booking, even if it isn't direct. Those on the booking committee that are his allies are going to favor him anyway, and those that don't, but are mindful of Jarrett possibly leaving to start another promotion, might book to favor him so as to set themselves up in good stead should actually start his new promotion. I'll be the first to say that Jeff doesn't have ultimate power over booking, or even major power over booking. But to say he has none is being naive.

If ONS outdraws Vengeance, it'll be credited to the WWE talent. -
You mean apart from the numerous times you blindly praised Jeff Jarrett, ignoring the facts, to the point that even the most ardent TNA fans on here pleaded with you to open your eyes ?

1) Is Jeff Jarrett booking in TNA ? No, but he still has influence. Maybe not as much as he had before, but he still has it. One should also remember that whether he's booking or not, whether he actively tries to influence booking or not, those doing the actual booking are still likely to consider his position as part-owner of the company, if only because they might not want to ruffle his feathers should he ever regain full power or he and Jerry start another promotion. 2) The 1Wrestling.con guy working for TNA That is Bob Ryder. He used to be in a position of power in TNA, but a series of events, including letting a bunch of contracts run out without noticing them, has led to his role in the promotion being drastically reduced. As far as I know, his role right now is that of basically being a glorified travel agent. 3) Would you all stop the petty bitching, cease the pissing contests, and try and have an actual civilised debate. Whether CarnivalizComing or Desperate Housewife are being idiotic or not, neither one of them is in any position to call the other on it, because they've both been guilty of ignoring facts and taking threads totally off topic.

My picks: Interim Heavweight Championship Andrei Arlovski vs. Justin Eilers I think Eilers will be trying to avoid a knock out, and I think that will leave him open to a submission. Arlovski by submission in the first round. Middleweight Championship Evan Tanner vs. Rich Franklin Franklin is good, but Tanner is better, and I think that Franklin might be a little too confident from beating Shamrock, as it wasn't entirely his own doing that he won, what with Shamrock slipping at a key moment. I think that, along with Tanner being so damn good, will be enough for Tanner to win. Tanner by stoppage in the third round. Welterweight Bouts Matt Serra vs. Karo Parisyan Nick Diaz vs. Koji Oishi Middleweight Bouts David Louiseau vs. Charles McCarthy Nathan Quarry vs. Shonie Carter I think Carter's experience on the big stage will be the difference, but Quarry won't be a pushover. Carter by submission in the third round. Light Heavyweight Bout Forrest Griffin vs. Bill Mahood I don't know anything about Mahood, but even if I did, I'd still go with Griffin just because I want him to win. Griffin by KO in the second round. Heavyweight Bout Paul Buentello vs. Kevin Jordan

I obtained PRIDE 18 anyway, though I skipped most of the fights. Steibling v Goes was decent, but nothing that hot, with the highlight for me being Goes having Steibling trapped in an armlock, complete with wrapping his legs up as well, and Steibling still escaping. Something similar happened a little later with an armbar as well. I somewhat enjoyed Ninja v Andrade, but only because Ninja was just totally dominant, and left Andrade's face looking like a big mass of splotches from all those punches. It would have been better had Andrade not kept hold of Ninja in the later stages of the fight in an attempt to survive. -

Christian has gone as far as he can on Raw. He might still have feuds with Benoit and maybe Edge he could take part in, but he'd just end up in the same place he is now. On Smackdown, he could be in a main event feud with Cena and he'd have a real chance of being seen as more credible and rising up the ladder, which is something that isn't going to happen for him on Raw. Christian can do more, and be worth more, on Smackdown.

Is Smackdown better than Raw right now?

Crap is going to be crap, whether you know it's coming or not. The spoiler argument is just an easy excuse. And at least with spoilers he'll know when to avoid the kind of thing that might turn him off the show entirely and not tune back in.
