For Smackdown, at least until he got drafted, Cena drew. Batista drew on Raw for a while, but then got the customary treatment, and that has probably stopped now. Make no mistake about it, Austin and Rock were the primary draws. So, you just want to sit there and take it, without voicing your displeasure?

Ring of Honor 6.18.05 "Death Before Dishonor 3"
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to a topic in General Wrestling
There is an ever expanding thread at the ROH board that says that Punk leaving for WWE is all a work, and that it's all been one big swerve. -
He was never given a chance to draw. Even as the champion they had other things going on that was more focused on than him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've never said otherwise. I was just making sure that people didn't confuse, as they so often do, a crowd pop with the ability to draw.

If it's a shoot, which I doubt, then Punk's an absolute idiot. -
Chris Jericho gets loud pops, yes. Doesn't mean he's over in the sense of being able to draw. People get those two things confused all the time.

And yet I don't see Punk pushing himself to the moon. -

This sounds too much like an angle done solely to swerve people who 'know' what's going to happen. If Punk leaves with the belt, and they have to have a tournament, it devalues the belt. If Daniels does beat Punk for the belt, then they not only eliminated a chase that people have been wanting to see culminated properly for almost three years, but they've possibly shot themselves in the foot, because who knows what TNA might try and do out of that. -

You should read the thread at the ROH board about tonight's card. It makes you appreciate this place a little bit more. Not much more, though, but a little bit more. -

I believe Sabu is actually pointing at the lights. Part of his gimmick was that he was a wildman, and didn't know what lights were, and so when he gets to the ring and the lights are above it, he points at them in wonderment. -
The main event for KOTR 2001 was originally going to be Austin v Undertaker for the WWF Title, with Austin to be revealed as the stalker of Undertaker’s wife. Then things got changed, and it was going to be Austin v Jericho for the WWF Title with a semi of Benoit v Hunter. When that plan got made, which would have been before Hunter’s IC Title loss to Kane at JD, it is possible that the original idea was also for Benoit to beat Hunter for the IC Title at KOTR, and that would have led to an Austin v Benoit WWF Title match, most likely at the July PPV. When Hunter tore his quad, the plan was still for Austin v Jericho for the WWF Title to headline KOTR. I’m not sure what would have been done with Benoit. When ratings didn’t turn around after two weeks, Vince lost all faith in Jericho and Benoit as top guys, and made the call to turn the KOTR main event into a triple threat match. Vince believed that nobody would buy a PPV with an Austin v Jericho title match on top because they wouldn’t think the title could change hands. By making it a triple threat match, Vince’s position was that people would be more likely to think a title change might happen, and therefore more people would buy the PPV.

Silver is nice, but the default skin is still my skin of choice.

I thought the Attitude Era belt looked like shit compared the Winged Eagle belt. The Winged Eagle belt look dignified and important and like it was something special. The Attitude Era belt looked way too chunky, and it looked like an Indy group had attempted to make their own version of the Winged Eagle belt.

He was wrestling Kobashi, though. That guy can get a good match out of anyone. -
The latest twist in the Schiavo case.......
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to NoCalMike's topic in Current Events
Schiavo's family are more brain dead than she was. That they are still clinging to this notion that their pet rock, I mean daughter, could have recovered, even after the autopsy showed otherwise, is pathetic. Is there anybody outside of the Schiavo family that still think she could have recovered? -
Just one letter out from what I was thinking.

Passable doesn't get you anywhere without something else to back it up. Awesome has nothing else to back up his ringwork. -
Him having the Erik Watts Stance doesn't help.

Because he isn't actually any good. He's only good in a certain style of match, that being a hardcore brawl with lots of crazy spots to disguise the fact that he isn't very good without a great deal of camouflage to hide his weaknesses. While that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it does greatly limit the ways you can make use of a guy like him, hence WWE having no real interest in him. About the only person to get a good to great match out of Awesome is Masato Tanaka in a hardcore brawl like the one at ONS, and WWE doesn't do that sort of thing anymore, at least not on the kind of regular basis that it would be needed to be done on so as to maintain the illusion that Awesome is any good in the ring. -

The major benefit to not promoting a match is that it means they can't damper your enthusiasm for said match. And while the opposite is true, in that it also means they can't increase your enthusiasm for a match, I'd rather not take the chance with the WWE 'creative geniuses'. -
Does anyone else here pefer the default skin?

UFC 46 is pretty good, and would have been better had the main event not had such a disappointing ending. UFC 47 is pretty good as well, but with a main event that delivers it's overall better than 46. -
Early Smackdown Taping (*Spoilers*)
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in The WWE Folder
If Batista is going over to SD as Champion, that means he beats Hunter at Vengeance. Which means Hunter beats Cena soon after, because, you know, he just 'put Batista over huge' and needs a big win back. -

Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in The WWE Folder
At least with Batista knocking HHH down and having Kurt challenge Batista himself it doesn't make Batista look like a fool. He openly said he knew what HHH was up to, and still wound up doing what HHH wanted him to do.
