  2. He did. And pretty much killed Detroit in the process.
  3. Because it's the truth. And even that figure might be generous. That's open to debate, but a case can be made for them. And that has relevance, how? I think pretty much everyone knows how bad WWE is. And viable alternatives don't mean much if very few people know about them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So this figure is just invented then. ^o) Open to debate? Who else is viable on a prolonged basis please? Its relevant because at the end of the day, the product was, is and should always be wrestling and not sports entertainment. I find it very hard to overcome the what is sports entertainment arguement back home when im trying to defend wrestling as a professional sport. Granted, but it should be looked into to determine how more people can get to know about it. Wrestling is going through a 'recession'. But if marketed well, a product can still be sold in such times. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's called an educated guess. Try it sometime. For an Indy group, ROH are probably as viable as any of the rest. For a true alternative to WWE, in terms of one day being competition, they aren't viable without growing considerably bigger than they are now. For small fish, they're doing fine how are they now. A pure wrestling product just would not work in the US. It has to be a mix of wrestling and soap opera-type stuff, just not the kind of stuff that is so bad it turns off the audience for whatever reason. I'll be the first to say that the non-wrestling aspects of WWE range from poor to downright hideous, but it needs those elements to survive and thrive in the US.
  4. JBL is a personal favorite of Vince. Nobody who wants any kind of push, or even a job at all, will do anything.

  6. Andre suffered from Acromegaly, and Big Show suffered from it too. The difference is that Show was able to get it treated early on, and no longer suffers from it. Andre, unfortunately, had no such option available, and as such was doomed to the short life he had. With Big Show having the disease taken care off very early on in his life, he won't have the same restrictions on his career or life. With that said, him not taking care of himself in terms of eating and working out won't help him live as long as he could. Acromegaly
  7. No, you don’t. You consent to taking part in a fake sport with the acceptance that, as part of that, injuries may or may not occur. You don’t consent to getting legitimately attacked by someone intending to do legitimate damage to you. Because RVD isn't deliberately trying to kick you as hard as he can. He isn't going in there to shoot on you. Given that JBL tried to attack Meanie in the back, after the PPV had ended and with no cameras around, it's a pretty safe bet he was intending to do as much damage to Meanie as he could and get away with. So why go after Meanie again in the back with no cameras, and with the other wrestlers having to pull them apart? And everybody not wanting, or caring, about what WWE thought would say the opposite, so it's really the word of one group of wrestlers versus another, which doesn't bode well for Meanie's case. If JBL had confronted Meanie in a bar and goaded him, I would agree, but he didn't. He put himself in a worked situation expecting any violence to be worked too. Yes, it wasn't the best of ideas to goad JBL, but JBL is, allegedly, a professional, and professionals don't legit attack people on live PPV, an act they know they can get away with. Professionals leave that shit for the back. People with balls do that too. People with a set between their legs don't attack someone in a manner that they know will let them get away with it. If JBL wanted to be a real man about this, he'd have confronted Meanie to his face in the back, and sorted this out face to face, man to man. People at the HH show have already pointed out which injuries were part of HH and which were part of ONS
  8. As I've said in other threads, my take on this situation is this: Batista beats Hunter at Vengeance John Cena retains the WWE Title at Vengeance Batista gets drafted to Smackdown Hunter tells Vince he should beat Cena for the WWE belt, as he's just 'made' Batista, and he needs a big win to get his heat back Hunter beats Cena at Summerslam There may be a slight variance or two here and there, for example Hunter might hold of on winning the WWE Title for a PPV or two in order to keep the program going, and better bury Cena, but that is how I see things going.
  9. The problem Vengeance has coming after ONS, and it would have it even had it taken place before ONS, is that comes across as more of the same old shit we've long since tired of. It's a problem that is systemic of the general failure of WWE to hit the next 'boom period'; the same people on top, and the people that are catching on being successfully buried in manners of varying subtlety.
  10. Where...? I looked over this board and 'other' before I posted, couldn't find anything... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showtopic=69631 On the second page of Other.
  11. Vince McMahon is the master at pissing away opportunities that have fallen in his lap, simply because it's something he hasn't come up with.
  12. I did a search for "Q Dubz", and got this: I'd be the guy in the middle.
  13. Q-Dubz? I feel like the ghetto version of Q-Tips.
  14. Who else is on the 'One-Five' and what are their nicknames?
  15. RudoCurry sounds like a gimmick off of AAA.
  16. Bringing this back to the initial subject matter, is anyone else surprised that the biggest Jarrett mark on the board has denounced this story has totally false?
  17. LOTC does have one point, in that the quality of poster in this folder makes it hard to have any kind of decent/rational/intelligent conversation.
  18. 1) Hunter and Batista are going long, as in at least 25 minutes. It doesn't matter that Batista doesn't have the ability to go that long, it doesn't matter that Hunter doesn't have the ability to carry Batista for a match that long, and it doesn't matter that having a match that long will require Batista to sell for a great deal of time, which is exactly what people DO NOT WANT TO SEE out of him. Hunter is into having long matches whether it's the best thing for business or not. 2) John Cena is not losing this Sunday, much less by submission, and anyone who thinks that is happening is an idiot.
  19. I’d been following ECW in magazines ever since its inception in 1992. I’d read reports and articles on their various cards, and the first one to really catch my eye was the report on their tapings in May of 1993 which included a wild brawl involving everyone on the roster and saw Todd Gordon get knocked silly. I think it was the taping that also featured The Dark Patriot tossing JT Smith off of the balcony, the one that Terry Funk strung up Rocco Rock from, and then leaping from it onto Smith with a double ax handle. The first event of theirs I got to see was The Night The Line Was Crossed. The event as a whole had been talked up real big, but it was the main event that I really wanted to see, as I was intrigued by the idea of Sabu, Shane Douglas and Terry Funk wrestling for 60-minutes. After watching the tape I was blown away. It was totally and completely unlike the generally dire product being churned out by WCW or the WWF. The wrestlers, the fans, the signs, the chants and the commentary all served to highlight just how vanilla and hideously pedestrian the mainstream wrestling product had become in the US, and it was great. ECW really was ‘the’ promotion in the US from 1994 until 1998, by which point WCW and the WWF had copied and adapted anything from ECW that could be taken to the mainstream, and there was nowhere ECW could or would go to once again be the alternative product that made them what they were.
  20. If they had TV, it would have been reported by now, don't you think? They do, however, apparently have notions of showing Impact on their website.
  21. Triple H losing has no effect on whether he stays in the 'main event scene' or not. He'll still be the most pushed person on Raw, like he always is, even after he loses. He'll lose, go on a rage, be confronted by John Cena, a title match will be set up, and Triple H wins a belt again, and it'll probably happen at Summerslam.
  22. BAH! Give me the Kane-Lita wedding over this one. Kane in a white tux, midget ring bearer and flower girl, a minister that was more convincing at being VERY uncomfortable, and don't forget the coup-de-gras: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't forget the mini-orchestra playing Kane's music.
  23. Laughed at it here first too. Cena isn't losing.
  24. And only one listed appearance by Jarrett. I'm guessing he's facing Gowen at the PPV in some fashion based on their angle
  25. I get the feeling they're building to a Joe v Daniels match, which means Daniels could be losing the X Division Title soon.
