Once again Triple H groups everyone under the same radar... It makes it easier for him to avoid having to make a good argument that way. Call everyone on the internet 12-year old kids, brush them off as wannabe's, and quickly move on without having to properly discuss the issue at hand. I would have asked Hunter why his bodybuilding book completely avoids talk about steroids.
-
I think he may be talking about how ROH handled the Feinstein situation.

Bryan Alvarez made a good point in this week's F4W that TNA have such a repuation for putting out crap, that, even though they've been putting out strong PPV's, nobody is interested, because they associate TNA with bad wrestling.
-
Dusty actually does expect JJJ v Nash to draw.
-
If Nash or Hardy could draw any significant number of fans, Vince would have them under contract right now.

Hogan's Most Successful Programs
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to strummer's topic in General Wrestling
I wouldn't call Hogan v Andre a program in the traditional sense of the word. I don't think they wrestled enough times. One of Hogan's most successful programs was definitely with Bossman. Usually, a Hogan house show program would do well on the first run, but the second and/or third match didn't draw as well. With Bossman, the second match in the program actually saw business increase. -
--James Whale, who does the talkSPORT evening show in the U.K. was scheduled to have HHH do a phone interview to promote his book last night. Whale was constantly promoting the interview until late in the show when he said HHH had pulled out for some unknown reason and "decided he couldn't do it." Whale then ripped on the book, said it wasn't worth buying and threw a copy in the garbage can on the air. He said because of HHH's actions, he would never have another wrestler on his show again, which is a big deal because every wrestler sent to the U.K. for promotional work is usually booked on his show. Whale said he was offered Chris Benoit on the show and had turned Benoit down because he didn't want two wrestling guests on the same show. (thanks to Stu Wilson) --Benoit ended up on the graveyard show on the network hosted by Mike Mendoza at 5 a.m. instead, and only got nine minutes, having to answer questions like, "Is wrestling real?" --There is an excellent Benoit interview up at www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2003560001-2005042323,00.html. He talks about watching Stu Hart making muscleheads scream in pain who had no respect for wrestling, and why he never did it to Benoit. He talked about why he considered Dynamite Kid the greatest wrestler ever and how he and Chris Jericho think Tiger Mask vs. Dynamite Kid are "timeless" matches in that they wouldn't have to change a thing and would still work today. He also talked about Bret Hart (and had the best take on the real situation as ayone), Kurt Angle ("our Michael Jordan"), his most physically demanding match (which will surprise you, but it was the Pittsbrugh match with HHH), being compared with Bryan Danielson, and being announced from Atlanta. --HMV stores in Canada already have the RVD DVD,which will be officially released on Tuesday. --Last night's Smackdown did a 3.8 overnight rating based on 55 of the top 56 markets (Richmond, VA not included), putting it in 5th place for the night, ahead of only WB. It's right at what the show has been averaging in recent weeks. --No Way Out will air on regular Sky Sports 1 in the U.K. and not on PPV. (thanks to Ian Hamilton and Paul Clay) --Speaking of No Way Out, in Canadian movie theaters, they are already running ads, featuring interviews, buiding up No Way Out and announcing champion JBL vs Big Show in a barbed wire match as the main event. That's quality control for you. (thanks to Milan Simnovec) --Joey Yung (who is actually a hot looking woman), who is one of Hong Kong's biggest stars, wore a WWE title belt over her ballroom dress while presenting awards at the HK Music Awards this past week. Where'd Paul Orndorf go in early 1987?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to DMann2003's topic in General Wrestling
He needed neck surgery, which I think was related to his arm injury. He wasn't looking to retire, but it pretty much turned out that way. -
That's not a bad line-up, actually. And I imagine the Cena glut will coincide with a super push.

I believe Orndorff was making around $30,000 per week in his program with Hogan. -
Do TNA even have any non-internet fans ?

That was the plan if Andre wasn't able to wrestle at WM III. -
It's from September of 1987, and is a really good match, that goes about 9 minutes. Owen Hart v Keichi Yamada
-
And those hardcore fans make up 99.99% of the TNA audience.

Joey Styles lost what little credibility he had with me when he claimed Coach could draw money if he was trained as a wrestler.

Fix "General Chat" Subtitle
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in Site Feedback
There should be something there, even it's just generic. It looks wrong to have nothing there. -
Last I heard, he was going to go by the name Asai, which is his real last name.

He'll be meeting with John Laurinaitis when WWE go to Japan in February. Right now, he has not been given a start date.
-
Smackdown would never be live, at least every week, anyway. It's too much hassle logistically.
-
Uhhh, genius. UPN and Spike TV are owned by the same company. Spike would want SmackDown because it'd get higher ratings than whatever they'd be showing instead of it. And if not, another channel (USA or FX spring to mind) would. They might be owned by the same company, but they are still different networks, who clearly have their own separate identities. The fact that the company are ok with wrestling being on one of their networks but not the other shows that. Which is why it is in Vince's best interests to have his prime time shows on different networks, regardless of whether they are owned by the same company. He can still play them off of each other, especially if one network needs a boost, by pushing his highly rated television show as what they need to help the flagging network out. If he's got both shows on the same network, he loses that leverage.
-
I don't think Spike would want to have another 2 hour prime time wrestling show on their network. Also, having both his prime time shows on the same network would take away a negotiating tool from Vince McMahon. If he has Raw and Smackdown on different networks, he can play them off each other when negotiating a new deal.
