  1. GBA has Advance Wars 1 & 2, Tactics Ogre, the two Fire Emblem games, Final Fantasy V & VI (plus FFIV which isn't very good, and it's being remade for the DS anyway), the Golden Sun games and random stuff like Lufia, Lunar and Tales of Phantasia.
  2. 2008 has a multiple season career mode, yes. One thing I should mention is that I play the game on PC, which tends to have a fair amount of differences with the console version of the game. I really don't know what the console versions are like.
  3. The Tiger Woods games have had Ryder Cup/President's Cup events for the last two years. Custom courses are also supported, as are the courses from previous games. Actually, everything listed from PGA 2000 is in the Tiger Woods games, outside of custom tours, which I believe was included in one or two installments of the game. I'm not sure what was special about Tiger Woods 2004. I'm pretty sure it was 2005 that changed the engine, toughened the game up a bit, and added new commentary; while the two installments that followed were more or less the same as 2005. But I could be a year ahead, I don't know.
  4. Yes, Bell was just a throw-in for the Toskala deal. I just wonder where this suspension is coming from since the drunk driving incident happened a year ago. Were they just waiting for the sentencing or what?
  5. The Jays were getting too close to the Wild Card for comfort (even though they really didn't have much of a chance), so they figured they better start losing to take themselves completely out of it. Kind of like every other year since about 1993.
  6. The Wii's online functionality is inferior to the PS3's which is also free. It's also inferior to the 360, which makes the price a moot point. If it was close, it might be comparable, but it's really not. Hopefully as more games come out, there will be a bunch that make sense online, and Nintendo will allow online play in them. That along with a good Wiiware service should improve things dramatically. I'm not so sure about the prospects of online gameplay becoming common place though.
  7. Altruistic? Come on, man. You can do better than this. When have the iraqis fucked with us? Never. We supported their shit, in fact. There wasn't one fucking good intention in the entire bunch. There are a handful of countries infinitely worse than Iraq. Why did we go into Iraq in the first place? I don't know. Oil? I doubt it. I don't see us bathing in black gold. A pretty good theory I've heard is just the fact that a superpower like America just has to slap around a little country every once in a while. Perhaps it was just to stimulate economic growth; America's economy (sans recent events) is pretty much en fuego right now, anyways. Plain and simple, there weren't any good intentions. We didn't want to instill democracy and all that bullshit, nor remove Saddam from power, nor rid them of nuclear weapons. It was clear that we were gonna do whatever the fuck we wanted to do. Is Iraq better off without Saddam? I dunno. They don't have an autocratic authoritarian as a leader, but the entire region is getting assraped by the specter of civil war and political, social, and military instability, not to mention insurgency. I said the idea of liberating a country from a malevolent dictator is altruistic, but I did not say that was the intention of the Bush regime. I said I didn't know what their intentions were. If I had to guess, it would be something nefarious, given that they felt the need to fabricate evidence and lie to the public. The point was that even an incompetently handled war that was started on false pretenses could theoretically create more positives than negatives. Whether it really will create those positives (the improvement of life in that part of the world) - or if the misery of a long war and occupation are really worth that "improvement" - is obviously still up for debate.
  8. I used to play CSS competitively and I remember the update that broke the game. They introduced an awful bug where the Steam process would use all of your CPU power, effectively cutting your fps in half. The update also caused a performance hit in general, outside of that particular bug. It led to much fun with me having to quit and restart Steam many times before a match so I could actually get playable performance.
  9. Any game that requires significant amounts of aiming is preferable on the Wii. It's unfortunate that FPS developers generally want to push technology to the limit and make the best looking games possible, because that goal is incompatible with the Wii. The Wii also has the worst online service of the three consoles, but theoretically that could be fixed by Nintendo (dropping the friend code nonsense). I think it's moot, because generally the Wii isn't going to be getting the same games that the 360/PS3 are. When a game is multi-platform, it looks like the 360/PS3 get the same game, while the Wii version not only has the graphics reduced, but they change the game in other ways as well. Although I must say, if PS3 developers start consistently supporting mouse/keyboard control schemes, then the PS3 is the system of choice for FPS and other games of the sort. The UT3 developers have said they're allowing for mouse/keyboard control in the PS3 version of the game, so hopefully that starts it on the road to becoming commonplace.

Banding is a big issue if you're going to be gaming. I bought s Sony Bravia 40" 1080p LCD TV today, and a ViewSonic 24" monitor. The monitor has one stuck pixel that's viewable on a black background, otherwise it's incredible. I might return it tomorrow anyway, just because I'm a stickler for pixel issues. The size is pretty excessive too, as I didn't think there'd be such a huge difference from a 20.1" monitor. I might want to get a 22" monitor, but I've heard it's better to either get a 20" or a 24" because the 22 and 20 have the same native resolutions (meaning the 22" just has larger pixel size or something) whereas the 24" has the 1920x1200 resolution. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
  11. I would grab them. The Metroid Prime series has greatly benefited from the Wii controls - much like Resident Evil 4 - so much so that re-releases would be a large enough improvement over their originals that they would be well worth a re-purchase. That's pretty much true for any type of shooting game. C'mon developers, less lame mini-game compilations, more FPS and shooting-action games.
  12. That's the one where you get thrown into prison, no? That area was BRUTAL. I just sat near a save point and grinded on the enemies near it, using that one skill of Simon's that does enough damage to kill all of the monsters in the fight, refreshing his MP after every battle. It went pretty quick.
  13. Rogue Galaxy is like a rich-man's Kingdom Hearts, good choice. Gotta use items a lot. I also found that certain sections of the game are incredibly difficult without doing a bit of level grinding.
  14. I can confirm it's up. Don't know about any errors, I haven't seen anyone on GameFAQs complaining about it, and I'm not getting it.
  15. There are technically more than 5 maps. There are 5 different "map modes" that change the layout and features of the 5 core maps, which changes the experience quite significantly. Also, they're apparently going to be releasing free downloadable content, which will bump up the number of core maps and perhaps add different gameplay modes.
  16. I guess Marvin didn't enable WiiConnect24 or something because he doesn't show as having any MP3 save data when I go to the MP3 WiiConnect24 menu. I did send a friend voucher to AlexPuma though, as he was the only one on my list who was listed as having MP3 save data.
  17. bigolsmitty's Leo X avatar was so rocking that I had to copy his idea. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. That sums up my thoughts on this war. Whether the Bush administration really did have good intentions or not (I really have no clue what their real intentions were), the idea of liberating a country from a pestiferous despot is rather altruistic I think. The problem with this specific war was a) falsifying information and lying to the public about the casus belli; and b) not knowing that the job would likely lead to more problems than it solved. Now the current administration is left with a complete mess, which I guess is fine and dandy, since it will be someone else's mess before too long.
  18. Ok I sent the friend request. I just have Warhawk right now, and I'm going to get Super Puzzle Fighter II HD when it comes out later today.
  19. I'm picking that up today. What's your PSN tag? I'll add you to my friend's list and we can play a game sometime.
  20. The control works well enough now that I've played a lot more. Even though it's not perfect, it's much more immersive and exciting than the previous games, and certainly a step up from any of the other console based FPS control schemes. I sent MarvinisaLunatic a friend voucher even though it didn't list him as having a MP3 save file. Let me know if you got it and what it does.
  21. Someone, at GameFAQs of all places, gave an explanation as to why the centered crosshair method might prove problematic. Mainly that you could only move the view so far before the wiimote was pointing off the screen which would cause it to lose control. That could be worked around by having a button that "deadens" the wiimote so you can re-center it before it's pointing off-screne, much like you re-center a mouse while playing an FPS. It would be a minor annoyance but preferable to the system they have now. Of course, even the less than ideal control scheme isn't a negative to the game, as it's a fair bit better than the GameCube controls.
  22. Mark me down for MP3.
  23. I'm perplexed as to why the advanced sensitivity doesn't lock the crosshair in the middle of the screen and perfectly tie it to the camera like I thought it would. That's basically the way every non-Wii FPS ever created has done it, and that system combined with the wiimote would have been perfect. With this "free crosshair" system, when you go to aim at something, you have to first put the crosshair on it, and then try to keep it there while the camera chases the crosshair (which further moves the crosshair). Is there some reason I'm missing as to why game developers haven't been putting in the "center locked crosshair" control scheme into their Wii FPS games? It's just odd how they've over complicated the control scheme when it's seemingly not that hard to implement.
  24. They'll theoretically run cooler, so it won't require as effective a fan. Or so you'd think, who really knows what MS will do? Given how quiet the PS3 runs, and how those systems haven't been dying by the millions, things should certainly be better with the new chips. P.S. Set the forum to display threads older than 10 days and the Xbox 360 thread will reappear.
  25. Buy a damn wireless router you curmudgeon. Or better yet, download a SNES/NES emulator and the ROMs! I really wish the game had multiplayer, but I know..in time.. there will be a good Wii FPS w/ multiplayer, in which case you will get to witness my finely honed FPS skills for the first time. P.S. I'm surprised you picked that particular character for your signature picture, as opposed to certain others from that same show.
