Nice to hear the company I work for seems to insist on having seven concession stands at their new theaters when the refuse to allow us to spend the payroll to keep even the one at the theater I manage adequatly staffed.

Logistically it doesn't even make much sense to get rid of Bischoff. I mean they have the guy on Contract, what else could they do with him? I mean they could use him in a backstage creative role, but on screen he doesn't seem as though he'd lend himself too well as a mouthpiece manager, or any other role besides even owner.

I always thought a great gimmick would be like a wrestler with with like ESP or telepathy or some shit where they stand on the other side of the ring and throw punches and clotheslines and do the motions for slams and powerbombs and stuff and their opponent sells it all.

I've been working the same job at this movie theater for 3 and a half years now, and have been a manager there for a year now. Up until late, the job was fun, easy, fast money, where you can basically just hang out and have fun with your friends. In March of last year our particular theater was bought out by a giant theater conglomerate, and what was once a small regionally owned theater just became another cog in this nation wide machine. At first it wasn't so bad, same shit, just more bosses. After a few months with this new company, most of the previous managers whom I had become friendly with since working there left the theater, mostly out of displeasure for the new corporation and it's policies, which I never really had a problem with. Lately though, I don't know what it is, but this job has started to suck the spirit right out of me. I used to enjoy going to work and working, but now I've come to realize that it fails to matter how hard or how little work I do, as long as I don't dip down past the bare minimum, no one will say anything, and I definitly won't get fired as long as I'm not blatently stealing shit. I only make 1.50 more then minimum wage, with absolutly no raise anywhere on the horizon it seems, yet I do the work of three people. It's not just me either, there are guys I work with that have been there for over a year now and are still at just minimum wage despite working harder then I do. It's also the nonsense and the beuracracy that come from both the corporate office, and my boss, who is really just a tool of the company, that's been wearing on me. They want long lines and a clean theater, but they want payroll as low as it possibly can. They want the auditriums spotless, but don't want customers to have to stand around too long. They get inordinate sums of money in advertising revenue, despite the fact that all market research everywhere has shown that customers despise advertising in any form when they go to the movies. It's all just a bunch of nonsense, and it's been slowly eating away at me I guess, and I just haven't noticed. So now I'm giving at least a little more serious thought to the idea of seeing what other job oppertunities are out there, preferably not without a demotion or pay cut. The only thing really holding me back is the fact that I don't want to leave all my friends at work behind, and quite simply, my job may not pay well, but it doesn't actually require a lot of effort either, so I dunno. They're building a new Target in the area, maybe I can get a managment spot over there? Other then that, I'm probobly looking at another 4-5 months before being taken really seriously by any company, since they're only hiring for that nosnense seasonal period where they'll lay you off in January. Maybe I should just stick with what's working right now, finish college, get a few more years of managment experience under my belt, so that way I'll have a buisness degree and that experience that would probobly get me a managment position just about anywhere I want? Any advice?

If You Were A Wrestler, What Accomplishments

Work a Wrestlemania Sex with Stacy Keibler maybe? -
Maybe Eugene is a big fan of Manchester United?
-
Maybe Eugene lost his motivation and needed a little nose candy and some wacky tobaccy to get into character?

Rikishi in 2000 always comes to mind when I think of pointless heel turns that made no sense.

It should be in stores now, if not then it will be by Tuesday. It's just a restroepctive on Hart's career and family. It has a synopsis on most of the matches from the DVD, an article covering Montreal, an interview with Bret, and then an article on the DVD in general.
-
On a smililar note, here's a direct quote from the Bret Hart interview in the new Bret Hart retrospective Magazine "People always compare me to Flair as this great wrestling machine, but I can hold up some of my worst matches to Flair's best matches" Discuss.

Picked this up today at Wal-Mart, and I only scanned through it really quickly, but for those who were wondering, the entire ending to the Rumble is there in it's entirety, including the accidental finish and Vince tearing his quad. From what I could see, the only edits were to cover up the numerous blown spots during Undertaker vs Heidenreich. Extras include some additional interviews, an additional Royal RUmble montage, and a few exclusive segments, the most interesting of which is Cena abd Batista shaking hands int he ring after the cameras went off.

Taito Legends came out this week for PS2 and X-Box, and while it may not have the same number of well known A+ games as the Capcom or Midway sets, it does have quite a few memorable classics including Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands, Operation Wolf / Thunderbolt (Both sadly without lightgun support) Space Invaders, Qix, and a number of other obscure but awesome games which you'd probobly never play otherwise. This is a steal at 19.99, and easily one of my favorite comps so far. Stay away from Midway Arcade Treasures 3 BTW, it's awful.

This entire promotion is turning into WCW. PPVs are booked with ludicrous results, Wrestlers walking out, shows being re-booked the night before, has-beens being pulled out of returement, etc.

From Meltzer: Several returns are expected tonight at TV or tomorrow, somewhat out of the blue (none of which would be the major story if it happens). Mark Henry as a bodyguard for Coach is one of them, but would be the weakest (not in strength obviously but in name value) of the expected returns. Another name expected tonight is Vader. The Christian story will almost surely be addressed, and it's not an angle, at TV tonight because they can't have people going crazy and voting for him and making the company look bad, so they have to address him being off the ballot.
-
How many successful home grown stars did WCW have on their roster when they were on top? Let's see, Flair, Sting, Giant, Goldberg, maybe Luger, perhaps Booker T and Steiner towards the end? Compare that to Hall, Nash, Hogan, Savage, Piper, Hennig, Hart, Waltman, Russo, Jarrett to a degree, etc. all guys that were in WCW riding the coat tails of their success in the WWF.
-
Man, there' no arcades around here for 40+ miles in any direction, they all shut down years ago.
-
The second one was a decent gore-fest, this might not be that bad.
-
When guys get injured like this, why just drop them out of the storylines on TV, why can't we have storyline reasons when guys get injured or need time off for soemthing. Run an angle on TV where Kane gets arrested, and keep him off TV until he's ready to come back with the explanation that he was in prison during his absence, it's cooler then "Back Injury" at least.

So if Lawler doesn't own the Memphis tape collection, and Jerry Jarrett doesn't own it, and the group they sold it to is long since out of buisness, who owns the rights to it now? *Edit* Never mind, I mis-read it, at least I think. The Clevland based group didn't go out of Buisness, they put USWA out of buisness after the aquired it.

Here's the complete game list Battle Shark Bubble Bobble Colony 7 Continental Circus Electric Yo-Yo Elevator Action Exzisus Gladiator Great Swordsman Jungle Hunt New Zealand Story Ninja Kids Operation Thunderbolt Operation Wolf Phoenix Plotting Plump Pop Rainbow Islands Rastan Return of the Invaders Space Gun Space Invaders Space Invaders part II Super Qix Thunderfox Tokio Tube It Volfied Zoo Keeper There are some extras, a few video interviews with the game designers, and also th eoriginal advertising flyers for the games as well. Operation Wolf is only so-so with the controller, it's not really bad, but the arcade version with the gun was much more fun. As for Double Dragon, whiule the original Arcade game was developed by Taito, I beleive the license for the series and it's games were eventually aquired by Technos, whose American assets are currently controlled by Atlus. Ninja Gaiden was always a Tecmo game, and is suspiciously absent from the recent, dissapointing, Tecmo arcade collection.

Gamecube to me was just a wasted oppertunity, it's easily the most technologically advanced of the three current consoles, but hasn't really seen a major third-party release since RE4 back in January, and probobly won't see anymore for the rest of it's existance. I will always love my Cube dearly for bringing me Super Monkey Ball, but overall, Nintendo really dropped the ball by it's stubborn insistance on nonsense like GBA connectivity which absolutly no one was interested in, instead of working on online game which was clearly catching on. Couple that with the fact that the games that were supposed to be the A+ must haves like Mario Sunshine and Zelda turned out dissapointing to many, and all you have left with is a console which Nintendo basically turned into N64 v. 2.0
-
Having N64 ANYWYWHERE on this list, let alone at #1 is completely rediculous. Time has not been kind to the Nintendo 64, and there is really no good reason to play it these days. Mario 64 deserves some credit for basically creating the generic Fetch Quest 3-D Platformer Genre which still exists today, and it wasn't a bad game either. Nearly everything else on the console are uninspired platformers completely derivitive of Mario 64, or Kart Racers all derivitive of Mario Kart 64. The only original games worth playing on N64 1. Blast Corps 2. Mischief Makers 3. Star Fox 64 4. Paper Mario 5. Super Smash Brothers
-
I would agree with those that say Starrcade q1997, it's just a complete metaphor for the good ideas that were booked to fail by bookers with an ego, and the wasted potential both of which constantly dogged WCW throughout it's existance.

From Meltzer: It's always bad when a legend dies, but it's a refreshing every once in a while to read about big wrestling stars living to near 80 instead of what we've been seeing these past few years. On that note, this has been a reletivly quiet year for Wrestling deaths, perhaps ever nerve rackingly so, something in me feels that since we've gone almost a full year without any real major names (no one bigger then Candido at least) passing on, we're gonna lose a real big name before the end of the year, like a Savage, or a Roberts, or a Luger.

'Friday the 13th' Alums Celebrate 25 Years
spman replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
I dunno, I always felt the Jason movies were all really boring, I could never get into that series. At least the Freddy Krueger movies, even the ones that were really bad, had at least some sort of redeeming value, be it humor, or violence, or soemthing.
