Farrellys accuse South Park of stealing plot
Dangerous A replied to Richard's topic in Television & Film
Yeah, the Farrelly's should really be more concerned with the fact that they no longer know how to do comedy than what the South Park guys are doing. -
No, Marbury's actually made the playoffs, and has had winning seasons. I don't think SAR has had a winning season. And I acknowledged that Marbury made the playoffs. My point is what nogoodnick said in that SAR has not had good teams around him but he puts up very good numbers, which is your defense for Marbury being criticized.
-
So are you all saying Marbury is the PG equivalent to Shareef Abdur- Rahim in that he puts up all star numbers, but has little (Marbury) or no (SAR) postseason success to speak of?

I don't know, Rock and Eddie had a decent backstage relationship, so it's not out of the relm of possibility. That said, I wonder if Rock or Stone Cold are on any kind of record with expressing their so called disgust.

Whoops. Didn't see the Torch reference part. Continue.

UWF-i was a worked shoot promotion in Japan. They did a ppv that aired in the U.S. that had Lou Thesz do some announcing for the matches. It's basically MMA/Pride style fighting except the outcome is predetermined. The strikes are very stiff and the men who worked there were some of the greatest workers I've ever seen. It's not for everyone. I've heard the argument that if people want to watch that style, they'd just go the full tilt and watch UFC or Pride and have it be a shoot. Still, to make the fights look as good as they did, takes a lot of skill and professionalism (staying within the context of a work and not shooting in the middle of the match because a guy tagged you stiff during a match) to pull off.

Artest in GS would help tremendously in the West, especially since GS has no one that can irritate the 2's and 3's in the west like McGrady, Kobe, Melo, Ginobili, Allen, etc.

It is what it is, my friend. It is what it is. Pro wrestling is what it is. Your argument that pro wrestling is supposed to look like a real fight and citing Rock, Austin, Hogan, and HHH is flawed. 250-300 lb. men cannot "realistically" throw one another into ropes and have them bounce back to them. The stunner is not a realistic move. The pedigree is not a realistc move. The People's By God Elbow is really not a realistic move in the context of a real fight. Hulk Hogan no selling beatings and then vibrating, wagging a finger, and then 3 moves later dropping a leg across a person that wouldn't hurt my grandmother is not realistic. Hell, most of the top promotions in Japan like AJPW and NJPW are more "realistic" in terms of making matches look like real fights than stuff here in NA if you want to play the real fight card. What works is working. If what Hogan, HHH, etc does works and you promote it as pro wrestling, then it works. If what AJ, Joe, etc does works and it's promoted as pro wrestling, then that works. There is no one set way to work. An argument I hear against Lucha Libre is their matches look even more chereographed than any style in the world. However, Lucha has been around since the 1930's. Are you telling me that isn't working? Working is getting the crowd into believing what you are doing. It's why Hogan works because I know realistically, his matches are fake as fuck. However, I am not ignorant enough to say that what he is doing isn't working. Yes, he and other guys who are monster over don't have to do as much to get a reaction, but that doesn't mean the guys flipping or flopping or whatever it is you are going on about are not working. They are just working more than the other guys. Is what Hogan and Co. doing smarter? Sure in terms of not killing your body, but it doesn't mean what X Division or Lucha or Puro wrestlers do is not working or some "stunt show". It's one thing to say that you don't prefer X Division style pro wrestling. That is fine. It doesn't make you a bad person. But to say someone is wrong for calling the X Division style pro wrestling is wrong on your part. Pro wrestling is what it is. What works is working. No matter where you are working or what style you are using. If the crowd is reacting to it positively in the context of a wrestling match and you are getting paid, you are working.

I think there's more to that story than just a busted lip.

Why exactly would Vince McMahon want to buy TNA? Doesn't make much sense.

Stay of execution denied for Stanley "Tookie" Williams
Dangerous A replied to Dangerous A's topic in Current Events
A lot of Tookie supporters should've gotten on the same page. You had a part of them saying he didn't do the murders and they have the wrong guy, including Tookie, yet the other part of the supporters are playing the redemption card. If he didn't do it, what is he redeemed from? He either didn't do it, and you're argument is they are potentially executing an innocent man or he did do it, and his anti-gang work since he's been incarcerated should hold weight for him not being executed. I wonder, if Tookie wasn't caught for the 4 murders, would he have written children's books against gang life later on in life or would he have continued to live wrong? Guess it doesn't really matter anymore because they've already put him out. -
Artest probrably isn't going to NY. Isaiah Thomas burned his bridge during his run in Indiana and Donnie Walsh and Thomas are not on good speaking terms. The Pacers aren't trying to deal with Thomas. I guess we'll all wait and see in regards to Artest and where he goes. I'm laughing at some of the Laker fans who think he'll fit in there. Newsflash, he wants MORE shots. He isn't going to get more shots on a team with Kobe Bean Bryant.

2 new people expected to debut at TNA tapings tonight
Dangerous A replied to Dangerous A's topic in TNA Wrestling
Agreed on Lethal. I don't think he's even that great in ROH. He's young though and there is upside in him. Also, did you misspell Homicide's name? Homocide doesn't do it for me on many levels. -
Lethal is pretty inconsequential in terms of TNA storylines. Not sure if Gabe Sopolsky is cool with Lethal potentially getting squashed by Joe, but it's alternate worlds. Homicide coming in rules my face though. My thing is I thought Homicide was seriously injured and out of action for at least a few weeks. Perhaps he just does an appearance or run in? Thoughts? Comments?

Yes it is. -
Depends. Do you think you could master hitting free throws at a decent percentage with 3-4 months (off season) of practice with your bad hand? Some people are more ambidextrous than others in those regards. I do think Shaq could've learned another technique in his career that was more effective, but I'm just saying it's a little more complicated for him because he doesn't have the same mechanics as the rest of us.
-
Actually, Shaq's shooting wrist can't bend back that far from when he broke it as a kid. The way it healed left the wrist so he can only cock it back a quarter inch or so and he can't get the full extention on his shot. Kareem Abdul-Jabaar tried to work with him when he first joined the Lakers and this is one of the reasons he is not good with the free throws. Now, Shaq could develop a different and more effective way to shoot freee throws, but just saying that he is limited in this capacity. I just figure it's God's way of evening things out because if Shaq could hit free throws at 80% clip, he'd average at least 40 ppg or more when he was in his prime.

Rey has looked softer and less ripped than at any other time since he joined WWE.

Let's have a look at HIAC matches from the last couple of years... 1997: Taker vs HBK 1998: Taker vs Foley 1999: Taker vs Bossman 2000: HHH vs Foley, Angle vs Rock vs HHH vs Rikishi vs Austin vs Taker 2002: HHH vs Jericho, Taker vs Brock 2003: HHH vs Nash 2004: HHH vs HBK 2005: HHH vs Batista, Taker vs Orton Notice a little pattern here? They might as well call it the HHH/Taker Invitational Cage match from now on.
-
I predict that I won't be ordering Armageddon.
-
Artest would end up choking Mr. Bryant in about a week's time. Remember, Artest is looking for MORE shots. He sure as fuck won't get them in LA. Then he'd choke Phil for trying to get him to read some book that has no relevance to basketball.

That is a point I haven't thought of there, LOTC. Also, very surprised at your stance because I had you pegged as a hippie -
Peja doesn't fit in defensively for the Pacers because he can't guard a closed door. However, offensively he'd be fine. You figure an inside/out game with J. O'Neal with a hopefully healthy Tinsley getting in the lane and creating oppurtunities would make the Pacers more potent offensively. Again, Peja is not and never will be a stopper and that hurts the potential of it being an equal value trade. The Cavs won't do it because they don't want a cancerous type like Artest around LBJ right now. Plus, if the Knicks are gunning for anyone in the future, it's LBJ, not Artest.
-
Alfdogg, you are the resident Pacers fan, what is your take on Artest demanding to be traded? He has now reiterated his desire to no longer play there and now is basically making himself Terrell Owens-like in the locker room. He can no longer be welcome there. I'm listening to some Jim Rome and while Rome can be a prick, he has a great point in that Artest is an ungrateful shit for this. Here is a guy who starts the biggest riot in NBA history and the franchise, his teammates, and his coach stood by him and supported him through his suspension and this is the thanks they get- Artest saying he doesn't like the coach and doesn't get enough shots. Well, if shots are his issue, why does he want to go to NY? He won't get shots there either unless his plan is to run LB out of town. So much for turning the page and being a new and improved person.
