That never happens though! I am still waiting for my reparations cheques from the whole Benoit RR/RAW/WM/World Title, thing in 2004. Lemme proclaim suckery now. I have a good track record!

My head is going to explode. Will Strong beat Dragon? No? Then tonights win was pointless. I was way too nice, fuck context, I'm right, this booking sucks.
-
Unless watching ROH will change the basic concept of "Guy beats 4 top guys" "Guy, despite beating 4 top guys, has no chance at winning the title because title holder can't lose yet" _________ "Guy beating 4 top guys is meaningless" Then I don't see how it would. Plus, don't make me watch ROH. It's wrestling poison.

They should change it to "under the bottom rope battle royale"... or maybe they'll do a lumber jack match... give Hacksaw a good excuse to haul out the lumber This is probably the only time I'd like to see Godfather back, just so Hacksaw can get aboard the "HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Train".

Strong losing to Dragon after a "taking him to his absolute limit" could have been done without going over the companies 4 top stars. Something like this should make the guy going into the title match as _the favourite_ to win at best, and "I have no idea what's going to happen - anyone can take it" at worst. NOT, as everyone so far here expects, "He won't win the title, but it will be a good match". THAT'S how tonights show gets cancelled out by the show next month. It's completely unnecessary booking. Booking like this should put someone in a better position, but with AD as champ, it puts Strong in the same position as before - as a guy who will come close, but won't win. And even if he *does* win, which is unlikely and will come as a surprise, it won't really matter because the important thing is buying him as champ _leading into_ the match. Granted, I don't watch ROH, I don't exactly know the circumstances around it, things could change - but on-paper, at this moment, this is how things look to me. This is not how to book a new star. You don't do all this just to cut him off at the knees by having him lose - no matter how competitive the match is. If I were doing damage control, I'd sidetrack Strong ASAP and get him away from that Dragon title match. Let Dragon get a few token wins out, get everyone comfortable in his reign and ready to see him lose, and let Strong be the one to beat him - if that's the ultimate plan. Maybe I just see this win tonight as being bigger than it really is, but -again- on-paper, beating those top guys tonight... it should go towards something more meaningful and productive. Is "Classic Old School Booking" making anyone else laugh/roll their eyes? Just me? Ok.

I figure "Gimmick Battle Royale"

I figured something similar to a combination of what HTQ said (getting over in a losing effort) and what KNK said (winning a match later-on), but you see -as KNK mentioned- Strong went over 4 or ROH's biggest stars, you'd think that would be for someone who'd _have a chance_ at winning the title he's contending for. Which brings back the "what is the point" part of what I was saying. A win like this would signal that Dragon is in trouble, but does anyone believe that? And as such, would they consider Strong better off than he was before beating all those 4 guys given his odds of winning against Dragon are equal now to before? It's not like he's any more of a threat, simply on the basis of Dragon being fresh into his title reign after a relatively short reign by Gibson and a reign that certainly had an expiry date on it in CM Punks. Would I be safe in assuming that people expect Dragon to have a long reign? Not a Joe-like reign, but certainly something that extends into next Spring and maybe even Summer. I don't see anything wrong with Strong going over those guys, or him challenging Dragon for the title - but I think there's something wrong with trying to do both. They sorta cancel each other out.
-
I don't care much for ROH and don't really follow it that much -but wouldn't it be better to elevate a new star later in AmDragons title run rather than earlier? I mean, there is no way Strong will beat Dragon at this point in his title reign, right? So what's the point of putting him over all these guys just for a match folks will expect him to lose?

If I were running a Womens Wrestling Show, I would do it in a 60's-70's exploitation/Russ Meyers way. Call it "Cold Hard Lady-Bitches" or "Pro Wrestling Pussycats" or "Foxy Fighting Femme Fatals" or something. Feature really bad acting, lots of cleavage and boobie bouncin, and chicks who want to get drunk, cuss, kick-ass and fuck... and not always in that order... along with pristine ladies who end up having to face this corrupt, lurid, amazon-filled world and may or may not be consumed by it. CC, next show you go to, find the owner and bring this up.

Plus... c'mon... Brock/Angle, HBK/Bret... not exactly a track-record between the two guys to be proud of. The match is rather unnecessary given both mens' position in the company. Michaels isn't really doing anything right now, they should think about incorporating him into Cena vs. Angle, since HBK has been playing more of a tweener in the past few months, and Cena and Angle both have their dividing fandom. An Ironman wouldn't really be the most appropriate way to get the third man in there.

Um. Hmm.. I saw someone wearing a Carlito shirt outside the other day.

I love how they gave you the answer to "what's in the hatch", and by doing so, gave you 20 new questions to frustrate the fuck outta you. I can't wait until Jack finds out that Locke used to be in a wheelchair. I imagine that would send him off the deep end. Shannon could not be any more annoying than she was in that episode - ditto Charlie. Kate going straight to Lockes side right after Jack said "I need you on my side (in regards to the "Locke problem"). The quarantine thing was a bit of a mind-fuck, as was the magnetic rock and the computer. I like how Jack was the only one to cover his hands while using the cable to get down the hatch. I imagine there was someone else living down there before Desmond - someone who showed him the ropes and took him in after he got strated there in his quest around the world - and someone who either was killed by the others, desmond, the monster, or he killed himself. The whispers is an interesting thing to think about - I imagine Shannon and Sayid will compare notes. Jack not believing Hurley was bullshit!

Haven't the rumours of the Eminem thing been going on since WM 19?

The character consistency of Lorelai drinking Heineken is also a nice touch.

Ok, I hate Liz too. TJ is the MAN, though. Him giving Luke the "OK" gesture with his hand was hilarity. I love reading this thread before I watch the 10:00 showing, cause the stuff about Cocoa and "That Mp3 Device" had me confused, and then when I saw it in play... awesome. The first thing Rory should say whenever she sees the dog is "You replaced me with a dog?!" Paul Anka in the jeep and Lorelais reaction... great animal/human stuff... is there anything Lauren Graham can't do? So, what are the odds Lorelai and Rory get back together in Episode 4? Going by the Max/Wedding thing, I think that's about right. Speaking of Max, some nice tributes to their season 2 engagement, with Max wanting to take two lives and merge them, and there's Luke just wanting to be a part of Lorelais. I am TRYING to incorporate the Luke Danes Goodbye Hand Gesture into my everyday life, but it's HARD dammit. I like the lil bits of intrusion into Rorys life from her grandparents. And the award for Best Bra in a Dramatic Series: Alexis Bledel. ..damn Emmys. It's weird having so few of the satellite characters in this one - Sookie and Mrs. Patty were about it. And didn't Lorelais interaction with Paul Anka seem awfully similar to Kirks interaction with Kirk? The Star Wars stuff was great, especially in knowing that Luke is a Trekkie. The "Hole" and "TJ" bit was hilarious, especially with Lorelai poke holes in Lukes plan to murder TJ. As for the rabbit that died.... "Poor Bunny"

Are we talking about "Gold Club" Eric Bischoff? Cause, I thought we were

Dude, I've said Lane and her mom are annoying. My lane hate knows no bounds. I kinda like Liz, and TJ is god. He's in ESCROW!

All I will say is this: It has been reported for YEARS, that the WWE was "getting rid of the risky stuff" and then the week after it was reported, the WWE would do something crazy. Seriously, don't believe it. The WWE will always do high spots, it's just they like to pick which guys do them. A ladder match after a cage match doesn't seem right, to me. And didn't they do this exact same scenario with Edge and Christian a while back (2001?)
-
I'd take an ether-rag to the face if it meant I could forget about Cabana/Flair. I don't even know where to start with how bad it was - were there any wrestling moves done in it??? It was the shittiest brawl I've ever seen, for sure. My god the chops. If wrestling were like driving, then Flair would have been arrested for driving backwards, in the wrong lane, with his feet, without wearing his manditory eye glasses, going 1mph, and then going off the road and into a ditch. And Carlito would have been arrested for going along for the ride. And even then, what I just described would have been more interesting than what they did last night.

Sleazy D, or "Dirty Dana" as I all em, is one of my and LOTC's favourites. The guy would be a perfect manager in the WWE. He's sleazier than Bischoff and Vince and Heyman combined. Infact, if those threes essense were condensed into one human being, that human would be Dana White. God Bless Him, and may the Devil Welcome Him.
-
I don't think you can understand the suck that was Cabana/Flair.
-
But it's not like he doesn't have a good reason to hate Cena. Shit, Cena started it. And it's not like Bischoff has been succesful or ruthless enough to take away his valid reasons in a "ok, you've gotten what you wanted, now stop cause this is getting excessive" kinda way. This is more "dude, seriously, stop cause you keep failing".
-
Oh, and Vince comes out and settles the title dispute, Hardy/Edge in a ladder match... are the WWE reading my ideas? Hey, yo, yo, HEY, guyz... next time you do that, pick the good ones and do em right, k? Flair/Cabana was some of the worst wrestling I've ever seen.
-
I second the praise for the group promo. It reminded me of an old school survivor series promo, each of the characters getting their "spots" in with one guy bringing them all together. Hey great, Todd Grisham is the coach and Cena is the Rock... Ok, I don't praise that so much. Shitty ass robot.

Even the gay way? Cause, I wouldn't blame you. Have you SEEN that chest??
