UFC is the type of company that would take someone like Rampage and ruin him by not building him up for their audience. Jackson knew/knows that. -
Goodridge must be 50 pounds heavier than Chuck, there is no way that fight is happening. Both guys are there as "familiar faces" to the casual MMA audience, since most of the guys fighting aren't. Beer sponsorship in MMA is a very interesting thing. It is believed, at least by MMA fans, that John McCain banned MMA in the US because it was a threat to boxing. McCain is not only a boxing fan, but both boxing and McCain get sponsorship from beer companies. That beer companies are now sponsoring MMA events, to me, is a very good sign. I like the idea of Quadros and Landsberg together. They may try to out-smug each other

They should have Franklin vs. Miletich for TUF 2. Pat is a good talker, though not very interesting, but he has already proven his coaching ability with MFS, and a fight between them would be pretty sweet. Though I find most of Miletiches matches boring, I think both guys are well-rounded enough to make for some great action.

Holloway Muses on 'Lost' Finale (Thursday, June 02 09:00 AM) By Kate O'Hare LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Calling in from the set of his new movie, "Whisper," in Vancouver, B.C., Josh Holloway has a few thoughts on the finale of ABC's "Lost." "I was a little disappointed in the finale," says Holloway, who plays con man Sawyer on the hit series. "I liked it, but I didn't love it. The script was one thing, but they tried to do so much, I feel like that some things lost the power they had. But that's okay; it was still good." After a season full of dangling plot threads and tantalizing clues, fans were hoping for some solid revelations at the end. What they got in the May 25 finale were some hints and a few surprises, but in the end, more questions than answers. And that goes for the actors as well. "We don't get answers either," Holloway says. "So I'm like, 'Aaaarrrgh!' I'm assuming that's the way TV is. I'm excited personally to quit asking questions about the writers and what they do and just do my job." "Lost" follows survivors of Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 from Sydney to Los Angeles, crashed on a tropical island a thousand miles off-course. In their month or so on the island, the castaways have discovered that it's no ordinary place, with polar bears, an invisible "security system," and the unseen "Others" whispering in the jungle. They've also learned they're not alone. Mira Furlan plays Danielle Rousseau, survivor of a boat accident, who's been on her own for 16 years, and William Mapother played Ethan Rom, who faked being a crash survivor in order to pursue his own nefarious ends before being killed by one of the castaways. Both Danielle and Ethan showed a lot of interest in pregnant castaway Claire (Emilie de Ravin), both before and after she had her baby. In the finale, Danielle stole the baby, hoping to trade it to "The Others" for a child stolen from her 16 years ago, but they had other plans. The Others -- or at least their scruffy, seagoing minions -- tracked Sawyer and fellow survivors Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) and Michael (Harold Perrineau) as they set sail on a raft. They ultimately snatched Michael's young son, Walt (Malcolm David Kelley), instead of the baby, shooting Sawyer and leaving the raft ablaze. Sharp-eyed viewers may have noticed something about the people on the boat, but if not, Holloway says, "There were twins, which I don't know if you could tell. They were identical twins, which was really spooky. There again, that wasn't emphasized." There also may be more footage showing what happened everyone was forced off the raft. "They filmed some stuff of us in the water that they cut out," Holloway says. "I'm wondering if they're saving that for the premiere. I'm hoping that it wasn't for no reason, because it was cold and it was three in the morning when we got there." Loyal Sawyer fans probably noted that he had a new hairstyle on the raft, trading in his free-flowing locks for a samurai-style ponytail. "I've been really having a hard time just with the logistics of the frickin' hair," Holloway says, "and trying to work with the hair whipping in your face all the time, because we shoot outside on the beach, right? I was thinking about that, on the raft, God, it's going to be coming from all directions! So I came up with that little idea. It worked great. I could actually see." In one of the episode's unexpected moments, high-school science teacher Arzt (Daniel Roebuck) was helping the castaways deal with some old, unstable dynamite when he was suddenly blown to pieces. "That was one of the best deaths I've seen," Holloway says. "'A shower of meat,' as it was described in the script. We were like, 'Oooh, God!,' but even that could have been a little more Tarantino-ish, if you will. It needed a little more blood." Since he went to work on "Whisper" the day after "Lost" wrapped in late April, Holloway didn't exactly get to have a viewing party for the finale. "I watched it in my hotel room after we wrapped at three in the morning here," he says. "That's how I've seen the last four episodes, actually, because I've been working every day." Since Sawyer is currently underwater and his fate unknown, fans may have to wait a bit to see another scene between him and Jack Shepard (Matthew Fox), the neurosurgeon who has become the castaways' de facto leader. That would be a shame, since the fireworks between them is one of the show's most entertaining elements. "They're like two brothers who were separated at birth," Holloway says. "They're two sides of the same thing. Sawyer's just had a different life experience. He was raised more on the darker side of life. I find it really interesting because Matthew and I work kind of similar. He's the kind of person I can sit next to and not have to say a word to and just get it. We really don't have to talk that much, like brothers. "When we've got a big scene to do, we're not all joking with each other. We don't even talk to each other. Then after the scene, we give each other a big hug. That chemistry, and the way we work, comes through on screen. So I find a scene with Foxy to be very intense, but easy to do, because he's right there, on fire, and I'm right there. It just works."

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
RavishingRickRudo replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
I think the next time Mole asks for this threads closure, someone... some mod... some mod named Brian... should ban him from this folder. I realized yesterday while doing some cleaning that I have 4 Angel box sets. I know that isn't a lot for some of you, but it's a lot for me. I don't think I've invested that much money into any particular interest of mine. -
That Hogan fella must've been lusted at by the ladies if he drew that much.

Wanderlei Silva (Brazil) vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura (Japan) - As a Nak fan, I was hoping it would out this way. Silva had problems with Yoshida - and if you believe he wasn't paid to make it look competitive, which I do - then Nakamura (who is 10x's better than Yoshida) should do pretty well. His stand-up is good enough to catch Silva on a rush, and his throws and GNP are very good which means Silva may be hesitant to be The Axe Murderer against him. The Nak dominated Murilo Bustamante, he beat Randleman and showed good skills in that fight, the man deserves some respect. This, next to Shoguns fight, is the one I'm looking forward to the most. Kazushi Sakuraba (Japan) vs. Ricardo Arona (Brazil) - Whenever Sakuraba goes against a BJJ guy, it's a fun match. He should have fun against Arona. Two things could happen in this fight - 1. Arona steps it up and kicks the shit out of Sakuraba, which he can do. OR 2. Arona takes a step back and play the grappling game with Sakuraba, which he will do. Both ways are fun ways. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (Brazil) vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (Brazil) - To me, this is the match which decides the entire tournament. If one guy beats the other, then it proves he can take any other guy in this tournament. Both guys are capable on their feet and on the ground, with Shogun being better standing and Noguiera being a Noguiera. Shogun is crazy, and Nog ain't. Chute Boxe vs. BTT. Fuck yeah. Igor Vovchanchyn (Ukraine) vs. Alistair Overeem (Holland) - Overeem can avenge his brothers loss. Igor looked GREAT against Kondo, but he won't be able to overpower Alistair in this on the ground, which means Staaaand Uuuup! These two guys standing is going to be awesome. Of course, me saying that means there will be a submission ending the fight. Additional Matches (Non-Tournament): Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (Brazil) vs. Pawel Nastula (Poland) - Noguiera is the Benoit of MMA, the guy just performs well against everyone. Sergei Kharitonov (Russia) vs. Pedro Rizzo (Brazil) - Everytime Rizzo fights, it's a chance to see greatness. He usually doesn't reach it, but against Kharitonov -who will push him- I think we may see the best Rizzo possible. -

Bushido was good. Takanori Gomi (Japan) vs. Luiz Azeredo (Brazil) Phil Baroni (USA) vs. Ikuhisa “The Punk” Minowa (Japan) Ryo Chonan (Japan) vs. Nino "Elvis" Schembri (Brazil) Tatsuya Kawajiri (Japan) vs. Kim In Seok (Korea) Akihiro Gono (Japan) vs. Crosley Gracie (Brazil) Hayato “Mach” Sakurai (Japan) vs. Milton Vieira (Brazil) Omigawa Michihiro (Japan) vs. Aaron Riley (USA) Dokonjyonosuke Mishima (Japan) vs. Yves Edwards (USA) Taisho (Japan) vs. Jens Pulver (USA) Yoshiro Maeda (Japan) vs. Charles "Krazy Horse" Bennett (USA) The ones in bold were "good" or better. I actually enjoyed Sakurais fight, and thought it was underrated by those claiming "boring". There was some really good shit on this card, that's all I'll say. -
How over was AA? On TV, I was shocked with how popular he was with the crowd.
-
The blonde looked smokin tonight. How would you compare the crowd to a wrestling crowd, and the event to a wrestling event?
-
How was the live experience? I know you recommended it, but for those who haven't been to a show, what's it like? Oh shit, Foley being there was awesome. They should bring him in JUST for his promos. Be Arlovskis manager, talk shit about Frank Mir and how badass The Pitbull is, and have AA do the "bang bang" and cheap pop/thumbs up.

You "don't know what I'm talking about" ? What the fuck? Seriously, I can understand YOU not being hyped for this card, but to say you "don't know what I'm talking about"? What the fuck are you talking about?! Silva vs. Nakamura, Sakuraba vs. Arona, Shogun vs. The Other Nog, Igor vs. Overeem... NONE of these fights are bad... or anywhere near bad. Plus, Noguiera vs. anyone is a treat. That is an awesome show, that is a big show. That is what I am talking about.

Really good show, every fight was at worst "fun" and at best "awesome". The UFC is doing a great job at building their welterweight and middleweight divisions, and LHW is starting to look good as well. Interim Heavweight Championship Andrei Arlovski vs. Justin Eilers - I think AA came out of this show looking nearly unstoppable. He just came at Eilers like the terminator, they did a great job building him. Fuck, this fight would have been sooo good had it went into the second round. Middleweight Championship Evan Tanner vs. Rich Franklin - FUCK YEAH. Franklin looked awesome in this, and Tanner just won me over. He looked great against Terrell, but this fight showed his determination and will. Franklin had some great combos, was aggressive at the right moments, adapted when he kept getting caught with those counter punches, and though Meltzer said he looked gassed, I thought his stamina was pretty damn good. I really enjoyed the story of this fight, with it being even at the start, and then Franklin gradually running away with it but Tanner never quitting and having to have someone end it for him. Welterweight Bouts Matt Serra vs. Karo Parisyan - Another great fight, Serra should have won it at the start as he kept plastering Parisyan after the knockdown. Karo using the power of JUDO~! for the win... that, and some really good gnp. Serra getting gassed was heartbreaking, because this could have been a FOTYC had he been in better condition and didn't slow down and become less competitive. Nick Diaz vs. Koji Oishi - Nice combination to end the fight. Oishi looked bad. Middleweight Bouts David Louiseau vs. Charles McCarthy - SPINNING BACK KICK! FLYING KNEE! FLYING HIGH KICK! TKD! TKD! TKD! Fuck, I apologize to Mr Loiseau for my comments earlier. Nathan Quarry vs. Shonie Carter - Nate looked GOOD. Shonie did too, but that was when he was coming to the ring. Rock looked possessed in the ring, a different guy. I like that dynamic. Light Heavyweight Bout Forrest Griffin vs. Bill Mahood - Griffin cuddling with Mahood after the tapout was gold. Heavyweight Bout Paul Buentello vs. Kevin Jordan - Good fight, weak finish for both guys. In this day and age, conditioning shouldn't be so bad that you gas in the first round, heavyweight or not.
-
Yeah, that's the one problem with this card, nothing really jumps out at you to get you pumped. It's odd that the big draw for this card is the ENTIRE card, rather than one or two matches in particular which usually is the case for the UFC. Very little hype and anticipation, but on-paper a very strong show.
-
Official Fight Card Interim Heavweight Championship Andrei Arlovski vs. Justin Eilers - Not to jinx this, but Andrei Arlovski doesn't usually have bad fights, and neither does Eilers. Thing is, the odds of this lasting beyond a round is very slim. If you like big knockouts and don't care about how long it goes, this may be for you. Pay to see Arlovski, though. He could be the real deal in the heavyweight division. I think folk are greatly underestimating Eilers, cause there's about a 5% chance at an upset and people are thinking 0%. Middleweight Championship Evan Tanner vs. Rich Franklin - This is an awesome fight. Tanner has been looking AMAZING in his last couple of fights and 185 seems to be right for him. This division is the hot shit, so this fight means alot. Franklin, if he's adjusted to this weight, is a top guy, but if he hasn't then Tanner could take it. Potential FOTYC. Welterweight Bouts Matt Serra vs. Karo Parisyan Nick Diaz vs. Koji Oishi - Diaz, Serra, Parisyan (haven't seen Oishi), are all exciting fighters. They fight at a constant pace and they're willing to take the fight to any position which means for extremely fun fights. Middleweight Bouts David Louiseau vs. Charles McCarthy Nathan Quarry vs. Shonie Carter - Quarry vs. Carter is such a good match, as Carter is so well-rounded and it's Nates first fight in the octagon. Louiseau hasn't really done anything to make me want to see him fight more, though. Light Heavyweight Bout Forrest Griffin vs. Bill Mahood - Mahood, by all accounts, is a slugger and Forrest definitely showed he's game for a slugfest. Forrest knew that the SPIKE TV fight was a once in a lifetime thing, so he was looking to impress rather than win. This may be different, since he needs to get a win in his first official match to prove he belongs. Which means a more conservative Griffin. I may be wrong, though. I hope I am. Either way, this will be good. Heavyweight Bout Paul Buentello vs. Kevin Jordan - They are grooming Buentello for a HW title shot, or so the word on the street is. He looked really good against Eilers, so keep your eye on him as well. Overall, this is a great show. It's not a HUGE show, like the next PRIDE is, but the odds of this being boring or bad is very slim. I said it before, but this could be the sleeper PPV of the year. RRR: Trying to find someway to watch it.

From Showdown.ca... FREEDOM FIGHT 2005 In association with Apex Championship Fighting UFC champ Chuck Liddell leads five-member USA team to fight Canada's best. Big Daddy Gary Goodridge leads Team Canada into battle! OTTAWA, ONTARIO – June 2, 2005 – Freedom Fight Productions announces FREEDOM FIGHT 2005—a USA vs. Canada team event featuring world-class talent in four weight classes. The event will be held at the Robert Guertin Arena in Hull, Quebec on July 9, 2005, and broadcast as a special two-hour, prime time event on TSN and RDS. UFC light heavyweight champion CHUCK "THE ICEMAN" LIDDELL will serve as the USA team captain, and "BIG DADDY" GARY GOODRIDGE will take the reins for Team Canada. FREEDOM FIGHT 2005 will be set up like an Olympic-style event, playing up the dynamic of two harmonious teams. "With pay-per-view piracy on the rise and hockey season in question, we feel that TSN, RDS and our sponsors are going to be very happy with our viewing audience," says Pete Rodley, producer. "The exposure on TSN, along with our prime time lead-in to WWE Monday Night Raw will open up the sport to a lot of new fans." In Light Heavyweight action, Freedom Fight will feature two of the top 205 pounders in North America: BILL MAHOOD (11-2-1) vs. KEITH JARDINE (8-1-1). B.C.'s Mahood has won all of his fights by KO, besting the likes of Chris Haseman, Tom Sauer and Jason MacDonald. Mahood makes his UFC debut against "The Ultimate Fighter" winner, Forrest Griffin on June 4. Jardine is one of New Mexico's brightest stars, competing in pro boxing, kickboxing and MMA. He recently returned from Russia, becoming the first man to submit Arman Gambaryan. In the middleweight division, Winnipeg native JOE DOERKSEN (30-6) battles Team Quest standout ART SANTORE (10-2). Doerksen recently submitted fellow Canadian Patrick Cote at UFC 52 and has wins over many top fighters including: Chris Leben, Denis Kang, John Alessio and Lee Murray. Santore comes off a three-fight winning streak and has finished all but two of his opponents. Aside from losing by an unfortunate cut, his only other loss comes by way of decision. In the heavyweight division, British Columbia's TODD GOUWENBERG (3-1) takes on LAVAR JOHNSON (5-1). Gouwenberg has won all his fights by knockout, including a KO win over the current TKO champion. Johnson has been tearing up the scene in Central California with five straight wins by knockout. After a year and a half layoff, Ontario native JEFF JOSLIN (4-1) makes his return to the ring in the 170 pound division. As a brown belt in BJJ, he's a lifelong martial artist with KO power in each hand. His opponent will be MIKE GUYMON, better known as "Joker" from the states. Guymon is 3-1-1, his only loss coming to "The Ultimate Fighter" winner Diego Sanchez. The five-bout undercard includes the return of Canada's bad boy, "PAIN" PETERS, whose newspaper quotes got him in trouble, but sold out the Robert Guertin Arena back in 2002. It's only fitting he makes his comeback in Hull after a year and a half of inactivity. Other fighters slated to appear include: KRYSZTOF SOSZYNSKI, RICARDEAU FRANCOIS, RONIN MMA'S FARMER BROWN and some of Canada's toughest fighters looking to defend their country's pride. Only the team bouts will be aired in their entirety on television so don't miss out on the live show! PETE RODLEY, CLYDE GENTRY III and CLINT DAHL make up Freedom Fight Productions. Rodley is a lifelong martial artist, marketer and cofounder of the UCC. Gentry authored "No Holds Barred", the first book on MMA and served as Editor in Chief of "Ultimate Athlete". Dahl promoted some of the first MMA events in California and has managed numerous fighters over the years. Gentry and Dahl recently wrapped post production on their first venture, VENOM, which is scheduled for release later this year. "The genesis for Freedom Fight started 16 months ago and I can say we have a great, well-organized team to really pull off something special for the Canadian fans," says Gentry. FREEDOM FIGHT 2005's commentary team includes TSN's very own MICHAEL LANDSBERG, whose program "Off the Record" has become the number one sports show in Canada. Joining him will be STEPHEN "The Fight Professor" QUADROS, famed commentator for such events as Pride Fighting Championships, K-1 and Too Hot To Handle. JOE FERRARO and ERIN TOUGHILL will serve as backstage reporters. Toughill is set to fight for the WIBA Super Middleweight Championship against Laila Ali on June 11. Also behind the scenes, FREEDOM FIGHT 2005 would not be possible without the help of ALEX CAPORICCI, Vice President of Operations for Apex Championship Fighting. Caporicci runs Freedom Fight Productions Montreal office and brings years of experience from the fight game. VIC THERIAULT heads up the world-class production team, bringing a well-established pedigree of producing over 60 full-contact events for television and pay-per-view. "Thanks to Vic, we're able to pull off a classy show, includinkg a nine-camera shoot and state-of-the-art lighting and sound. This production set with create a memorable experience for the live crowd and the viewers at home," says Dahl. Tickets go on sale June 3rd and they will go fast. Bus tours, pre event festivities and hotel information will be released shortly. FREEDOM FIGHT 2005 is proudly sponsored in part by BUDWEISER, XYIENCE, CHEZ 106, HARD ROCK CAFÉ, EAU COOL, ITGC.com and MAGIC DRAGON MIST.
