I would say a more overlooked fact is that Mir has been punched in the face, while Brock hasn't. I doubt Brock is training with people fully punching him in the face, and one's reaction to getting hit like that is always an x-factor in a fight.

There's a difference between seeing Soko as a prospect and as a top ten fighter. I can't possibly try to figure out the placements in this division, but I will say that Lyoto moves up, Soko moves way down, Arona and Noguiera fall even further. We're getting to a point where there is, to a certain degree, a lack of options where guys with the least flawed fighters are in the top 10 by default.

It's really hard to rank Soko after he got fucked by Lyoto so hard and by showing so little skill on the ground.

Stylistically, Chuck should KO Silva on a counter-punch (just given the way Silva rushes in and the way Chuck steps back, and also given that Silva has gotten caught like that in the past) or at least get a knockdown and then either finish with GnP or rinse and repeat for an eventual stoppage. However. Dude lost to Keith Jardine. Silva is better than Jardine. Chuck had opportunities to put Keith down and he didn't capitalize for whatever reason, which is a bit concerning if you are a Liddell fan. Also, before his big run of knocking out grapplers, Liddell had a string of decision wins over lackluster opposition. Killer Instinct is such a big part of the game, and Chuck was just waiting around for that one punch that never came. Silva's conditioning also looks to be improved while Chuck will probably come into it in Chuck shape, so if Silva uses the right strategy Wand could use Chuck's one punch-wait-and-see approach against him. But this is precipitated on the fact that Wand doesn't come forward and give Chuck an opening, which is probably not going to happen. Odds are Chuck will catch Wand in the 3 rounds. But I want Wand to win. There are just more options available with him being relevant in the division.

Since I don't think Kenny will be able to put Joe on his back, and I do think Joe will put Kenny on his, my BJJ comment was made in relation to what I think will be relevant in the fight in regards to Kenny being able to win. I don't think he will be able to tap Joe off his back, nor do I think he will be able to successfully stifle any gnp from Joe. If is able to take Joe down, it's a different story, but I don't think he will be able to do what he did to Stout or Cope there. The experience comment comes from the fact that Joe has twice as many fights as Kenny. If you want to qualify experience, rather than quantify it, Joe hasn't done 5 rounds against Sean Sherk. But then again, Kenny has Karalexis, Stout, Cope under his record as well. Leg Kicks don't get knock outs, generally speaking, and it's once in a blue moon that you see one score a TKO. Beyond that, I don't see Kenny being able to use them effectively against Joe. Everyone remembers the Mishima fight like it was every Kenny fight, but it wasn't. Kenny is going to look to evade and Joe is going to press forward. I don't think Kenny is going to be able to handle that, unless Joe's knee goes out... And Alves puts his MT together much better than Kenny does.

More experience? Looking like Zoolander, yes. Fights? Only if you score it like golf. Better wrestler is confusing. Better BJJ, yes, but he hasn't really proven himself effective off his back with punches coming down over him. Stand up, leg kicks don't mean much and aside from that he has his elbows. Kenny doesn't like getting punched in the face, period. He looked very timid against Thomas and Joe will be putting fists up and not backing down, combining it with takedowns will fuck Kenny up. He folded against Diego and the best thing he can say in regards to improvement was that he was only run over by Sherk.

I'll add another one: Breakout Fighter of the Year This is a pretty big year for Breakout fighters; guys who were unknowns in 2006 and became contenders not even a full year later. In regards to most relevant to the division, I'll say Frankie Edgar, given his proximity in skill and position in the division to the title and his ability to win against the top guys.

I don't really see what Kenny brings to the table to off-set Lauzon's wrestling and GnP. Look at Kennys performances against guys who are stylistically similar to Joe (Diego, Sherk) and he gets whooped. Plus, the time Joe has spent with BJ will have done nothing but improve his game. I imagine the same people who pick Kenny in this fight picked Kenny over Huerta as well. This Kenflo love is GETTING OUT OF CONTROL!!! So tell me how Kenny wins this fight?

I think Lauzon should suitably crush Kenny. Tanner vs. Okami is sooo good eats.

LOTC brought it up, but I will expand, the Fight Night 10 card had an awesome main event in Stout vs. Fisher, a come from behind with Fitch besting Carneiro, big time KO's in McFedries and Johnson, and a super-dope performance by Tarvares. I also thought Fight Night 11 was really good. It didn't have that one big FOTYC on it, but it had two crazy fights in Leben/Martin and Quarry/Sell; and Hazelett/Goulet, Maynard/Veres, Cummo/Crocota were shorties but goodies. Alves/Hironaka was a fucking wicked shitkicking, emphasis on kicking and Miller/Garcia was a fine bout. I don't think I'd have this in my top 3 shows for the year, but it's one of the better offerings. I'd say my 1 and 2 shows for the year were Respect and Second Coming though. That PRIDE show was a total game changer, with Diaz, Hendo, and Sok pulling off huge upsets; the former two being exciting bouts. Respect had Couture dominating Gonzaga, GSP dominating Koscheck, my aforementioned FOTY, plus Stevenson/Batman was a really good fight IIRC, Leites and Babalu pull of sweet subs, and PEE COAT wins~!
