I love this team.

Bruins defeat the Sens 4-2. Kessel (Phil Kessel what) with 2, Sturm and Lucic both with their first of the year. Bruins are 2-1-1 and head home for the first time this season. They looked very good tonight, tighter defensively. Fernandez was ok, not spectacular. I think Thomas deserves to start the home opener against the Crosbys on monday.

I finally found Miller's Crossing on DVD at Borders. The price said $9.99, but it rang up $5.99 and I had $5 in Borders Bucks, so...$1.06 for one of my favorite movies of all time. Swish.

She's on the Islanders in my dynasty. She's tough but beatable.

"What, they didn't have a Doug Bodger?" Canadian marriage.

There's some kind of rivalry between Malkin and Ovechkin that I'm sure we'll find out about soon enough. Ovechkin has really rounded his game though. Some of those hits were fucking brutal.

Don't like the Sabres but that old logo was one of the tops in the NHL. The one they have now is the pits.

I have no words. I stopped with the laptop at around the fifth inning I think. I paced a five foot long spot in my bedroom from the sixth to the end.

He was a starter. Then he did this: 2003-04: 2.04, 853/932, .915 2005-06: 2.97, 986/1099, .897 2006-07: 4.33, 421/483, .872 (in only 18 games) Essentially, he was a very good pre-lockout goalie but could not adjust to the new NHL.

Tony "falls asleep at red lights" LaRussa.

My team's getting embarrassed at home too but you don't see me blaming the loss of Manny Ramirez on it. The Red Sox overachieved, Tampa has brow-beaten them into submission now. A lack of healthy/quality starting pitching is what gets that done. Ortiz can call lineup protection all he wants, it's a myth. http://baseball1.com/bb-data/grabiner/protstudy.html http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/...-around-batters http://www.retrosheet.org/Research/RuaneT/lineup_art.htm

I for one welcome our new Tampa overlords.

She's a store manager at Lids.

I'm curious why they went with Quenneville, who seems to have an inability to work with goaltenders. He now has a guy signed to be the #1 and a guy making more than the #1, both of whom are going to want playing time...I don't understand.

Just newlyweds on their way to Earth Capital.

My gal got me a bunch of WHL/CHL hats from her work. I have a Giants, Rockets, Frontenacs, Hitmen, Oil Kings and one other I can't remember. The Rockets are my new favorite.

He said something before the playoffs about not having net at his house. -

Well we have a ratings/census argument in the ALCS thread...is nobody watching Chad Billingsley shit the bed, Torre bringing in Chan Ho Park with the bases loaded (and somehow getting out of it without giving up a run)? 3-0 Phillies after 2 and a half. -
I will give someone on the Boston Bruins five hundred dollars ($500) of my own money if they cripple one of the Kostitsyn sisters. Crippled means unable to play ever, ever, ever. For fuck's sake, one of the ladies had Wideman in the fucking figure 4. Wideman gives her a shove and the whole period comes unraveled. I know it's a big night for Montreal, what with the centennial and, according to most of the fanbase, they're going to present the Stanley Cup to the Scabs during the second intermission, but maybe we could get this called evenly? Maybe? Christ on a fucking pony.

There seems to be some kind of mistake here. I mean, they say this is "LIVE" but I'm convinced that they're playing a tape of a Bruins v. Scabs from last year. It's the same shit again. The Bruins overcommit, the Scabs find the open man and wreak havoc. Couple that with Thomas being unable to control himself in the crease and giving up ridiculous rebounds and I'm convinced I've seen this all before.

Somehow playoff threads always become a ratings argument and a census battle of some kind.
-
People bitch that I don't post in baseball threads, claiming that I "only show up for the playoffs." Then I get bitched at for actually participating. Go fuck yourself. There's participating and there's giving play by play. Look what happened to Marvin with the stupid Orioles in the baseball thread.

I stopped doing Bruins play by play for the same reason. By and large, people don't really care. Brett Hull is more a household name, but he was more marketable than Oates because he was someone who never shut his fucking mouth (and still doesn't). Oates was a better player though. Between Crosby and Ovechkin, Ovechkin's more marketable and is arguably the better overall player. Crosby's a better two-way player now, but Ovechkin has been working more and more on his defensive game plus he hits people harder than most defensemen. I think in two or three years, Ovechkin will be the best all-around player in the NHL.

Datsyuk is good, but watching Ovechkin and the Caps destroy the Canucks just reinforces how good Ovechkin is. Vancouver essentially decided that Ovechkin wasn't going to beat them, so they triple teamed him whenever he had it. So instead, he played defense, almost liquidated about three players along the wall with hits and generally played an inspired game without the puck. I'd pick Ovechkin to start my team over anyone in the NHL.
