Any other team in the NHL would have been on Gauthier in a heartbeat. Christ, I'm watching Dallas v. Columbus right now, Ott made a slight hit on Nash's knee and Methot jumped on Ott immediately. Montreal has no heart, grit or character.

They have games on NBC every sunday too.

Tuukka Rask shutouuuuut! By the way the Rags are the most boring team in the NHL.

People in America just aren't interested in hockey.

Red Sox signed Varitek. 1 year with a mutual option. :/

That...doesn't make sense. He changed hockey in the short amount of time he played. That's one of the reasons he's in the hall of fame. you need more than one reason to be in the hall. you need to be multi-faceted and not have only 4 years of dominance. his reckless style changed hockey but ruined his longevity. i just dont think he dominated for long enough. That's one reason. The other two are his definition of the power forward position and his outstanding playoff numbers.

The best American goaltender of all time is a Hall of Famer. I would say John Vanbiesbrouck. Barrasso could be argued too.

Hard to blame him for not beating those Oilers teams. And everyone went on and on about Raymond Bourque being a playoff warrior when he rode the backseat to the cup in 2001. Bourque was a key member of those teams too. The Oilers were just better. The fact is that Neely is 4th in goals per game in the playoffs (ahead of Gretzky, behind Lemieux, Bossy and Richard). He scored 57 goals in 93 games in the playoffs. And of course, the "what if" thing had Samuelsson not crippled him in the 91 playoffs...we'll never know.
-
In those three seasons, he was an absolute force of nature though. It's a tough case but I think he's definitely deserving.
-
Or the cousin to that: Just having fun out there! Just out there gunslingin'!

Cam Neely defined the power forward position. He's one of the best power forwards ever. One of the best playoff performers of his generation too.

Phil Kessel returns to the lineup after missing six games due to mononucleosis and Michael Ryder returns from the flu. Watch out, the Broons are back at full strength (minus Marco Sturm) now.

Broons: Nobody really stands out yet. Chara is close, but I'm not sure what would happen if he (god forbid) had to retire tomorrow. He's a dominant physical defenseman but I don't think he's done it long enough to warrant inclusion. He would need the Bruins to do some serious winning over the next few seasons to get any sort of support and even then I don't see it happening. He'll be remembered for a lot when he retires, but he won't be in the HOF.

Stanhope can be hit or miss with me. I think he's a pretty smart guy, but he can be pretty far out there sometimes.

Highly entertaining Caps v. Broons tonight. Bergeron, Lucic and Ference were back and they looked good. With those guys in the lineup, it's a completely different team. Bitz held his own against Brashear too.

Brian Regan and Rich Vos are great. Regan's one of the best clean comics out there.

Winning coach gets fired, losing team gets to meet Diane Sawyer to have their balls washed. What a country. Will Diane Sawyer be visiting Lions training camp next season too?

Sean Avery's days at MSU are over!

It's mundane because the players want nothing to do with it. They'd rather have the time off than spend it flying across the continent to half-ass their way through some puck relay drills or something. They used to do that half moon drill. And the goalies rarely, if ever, stopped one. They did it two or three years in a row I remember. The problem isn't that the skill drills are mundane, it's that the entire weekend is. The young stars game was a colossal waste of time. The skill competition was only made interesting when Chara put money on it. And the All-Star game was what it's become. A fast-paced scrimmage. It doesn't need fixing, it just needs to stop. Make the showcase the outdoor game and be done with it. That way the game actually means something.

I mean I think she helps Jack and Tony without getting in with Emerson. Kind of like an extra entity and their own mole in the FBI. They'd still have Jack, Tony, Bill and Chloe working against the government but they'd add Renee to their stable.
-
Why should anyone care about an exhibition game? There's no defensive play, it's just guys out there fucking around. It's a scrimmage game that they keep score for.

FOX Sunday Night 08/09 - now in HD!
the max replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Television & Film
It can be funny from time to time. But if you try to compare it to Klassic Krusty, it's awful. Beyond awful. But it's still better than most of what else is on tv anymore. -
What kinds of skills competition should they have for goalies? You know, besides the breakaway challenge?
