not to jump on this pitchforkian buzz band, but the new liars album is pretty amazing. its gonna be their benchmark. something they'll always try to top. maybe its their loveless? do they have the CRED to become a my bloody valentine? there's no dance punk. no no wave. its almost about space & time. its a very quiet album. the loudest quiet album i've possibly ever heard.

the a's might be the best team in the league. and no one is picking them.

i've always like parsons version more. its simpler. more harmonious. jagger sounds a little too jagger in that song. i don't listen to the stones for gentle ballads, man. i been listening to alotta the dirtbombs lately. if that counts.

amazing rap music has as harrowing lyrics as any rock band. listen to mobb deep's the infamous. or even ready to die. this isn't a bullshit genre in the least. it gets a bad rep because of the oversaturation of "bitchaz niggaz ect" subject matter in mainstream music. while must of the beats are unoriginal, its faily ignorant to say all a rap dj needs to do is sample some kraftwerk or parliament. again, you've fallen into the stereotypical indie snob sector of critisising artists. (see: your "joke" about the strokes a month back). who samples parliament any more? that was only the g-funk shit that was popular 15 fucking years ago. but i digress, the orgin of these beats may not be original, but the way they are manipulated & assimilated along with various other samples, effects, ect takes some fucking skill. do you hate dance music, too? when you go to a club, do you stand their with your nose in the air waiting for them to play the fucking smiths? no wonder you're such a viciously obnoxious prick on the internet. you're repressed. even pitchform likes rap, dood. you've got a lot of nerve to be so critical of an artform that has spawned several tremendous lyrical talents; talents that could put to shame many of your indie rock darlings. but because of the beats, most of which aren't even made by them, you have to ignorantly discredit their entire musical output. but you play the trumpet, and your life has probably been programmed to hate any non-intrumental music anyway. so y'must hate the roots then, too. now we know why you hate rap. never come into a thread discussing it. you're quest for musical knowledge has clearly been a failure.

draper has been the bets player on the team. if team canada had motr players like him they;d be more successful. hence my idea of putting sullivan & other speedsters on the team to through off the opponant. this is a team game, not an allstar team.

canada can beat russia, don't get me wrong. canada has the tools to make russia suffer for any major mistakes. but judging by every game of the tournmane thus far, russia will murder them.

canada had a combined 8 shots in the last two perdiods. luckily they got off to a hot start. but russia is going to beat them. and its going to hurt. i can't imagine them even sniffing a medal in this tournament. they've been dominated by everyone except italy & germany.

is it a joke that evgeni malkin is playing for russia? or that henrik lundqvist is playing for sweden? or marek svatos is playing for slovakia? don't get into this middling bullshit comparing crosby to daigle. thats being unrealistic for the sake of furthering your flaccid argument. i wouldn't even call doan a grinder. his physical presense lies more within taking cheap shots than containing the other players. he has simply proven to be one of, aside form mccabe & smyth, the msot useless player on the team. its quite fitting that a habs fan would bring up ryder & rivet while critisising joe thorton. i said the team needed grinders, but they also need physical dominance. something thorton CAN do. i understand canada's loyalty to their old timers (sakic) but he really hasn't been playing very well this year. between missing last year & the rule changes this year, there are a lot of players that are being left in the cold. and while this may sound sacreligious, i don't think joe sakic is necessarily the force everyone has thought of. it was a mistake to ship out forsberg to keep him. he plays a soft game - which can be beneficial - but when he's playing allstar teams every night - his weaknesses are glaring. yes, he wins face offs, so does yanic perrault. i don't have a favorite player that has been jilted. but watching scott hannan place much of the western conference on lock down hen he plays is as good enough of a reason to pick him. he's an animal. scott sullivan is almost single handidly responsible for the predators turn around. in 2004, he got them in the playoffs. adding kariya to the mix has made him even stronger. that is SPEED. thats why the fins are outplaying them. physical intimidating these teams won't get them anywhere. defending the team may seem noble right now, but the fact we have an enourmous pool of players to pick from & we are losing to switzlerand says something. don't blame round robin. we just don't have a good team. wrong pieces. wrong players. maybe shane doan should be on the team. maybe he'd be good on a line with players of the same ilk. but putting heartless point scoring machines, lecalvier & st louis is silly. brad richards is great, though. i wouldn't have been against legacy being on the team, btw. brodeur is fine & all, but his day has passed. y'know? time for the dinosaurs to step aside.

He'd be a lot better than Draper or Doan. He can actually score, play good defense and he's not as slow as he's made out to be. He's a good leader too, something the Canadians are really lacking. Draper has been one of their best players. he's the speediest - which is what the team eneds right now. he is relegated to the penalty kill. doan plays even strength - and is horrible. i'd take enarly anyone over him. there's a healthy amount of youngsters who should be playing that aren't. we are going to lose, not make the medal standings, and hockey canada is going to have to take a long look at themselves in the mirror. i really don't care how canada does in the tournament, i just resent how the team has become gretzky & his boys club. there is so much talent in canada that is not being utalized on a major level. instead we are forced to see the sakic's of the world (and wayne says he's been one of the best plaers?) over & over again. sakic over alex tanguay? nonsensical. mccabe oevr phaneuf? thats an ambarrassingly poor decision. and look at all of the international teams with young phenoms in their system. all of them are playing in this tournament, except the one who is the "next gretzky". crosby should be playing. scott sullivan should be playing. paul kariya should be playing. scott hannan should be playing. isn't it funny how eric brewer was completely forgotten about after he left the oilers? he did quite well in the 2002 olympics. don't put an endless amount of "superstars" together. make a TEAM. thats why switzerland, and to a elsser degree, finland beat them. finland has very few "superstars" but they are successful as a team. oh ya, and marty turco should be starting goaltender, too.

you know nothing. shanahan is just another aging, slower canadian player who can still score. unfortunately, the international game is about speed. he doesn't have it. he'd struggle just as the others have. i agree with your other selections, though. and i hate crosby. they needed youth & speed. gretz dropped it. if canada ends up winning, they still didn't deserve it. they aren't the bets. not close.

this swiss loss magnifies all of canada's weaknesses. too old. not adaptable. poor coaching. no discipline. canada won't be able to bully their way through this tournament like they have over the past few years, both at the jr. & professional level. they had a lot of shots at the net, but not too many quality opportunities. why was sakic playing so much? why was heatley playing so little? bouwmeester was their best defenseman. rick nash was their best offensive player. the best chances were when nash, throton, & bertuzzi played. too bad quinn didn't realise to play them a lot until the last 5 minutes. why did they pick doan & smyth? (i know the answer). but their spots could've been given to staal & spezza. speed prevails on this big surface. thats why russia or slovakia will win. the swedes will lose out because they stuck with the old guard, and so will canada. guys like bergeron, staal, phaneuf, cammaleri, ect. should've been considered along with thorton, nash, heatley, ect. sakic has no place in this tournament.

the russians are pounding the swedes. looks like all of these upsets will even themselves out in the end.

the raiders are in disarray. horrible drafts. even worse free agent signings. idiotic coaches. primadonna players. can it get worse? no one wants to coach the raiders. they are stuck with losers. although i am happier with art shell than i have been since gruden. so who knows? norv turner is a dunce. i've felt the detroit tigers have been on the cusp of success the past two years. unfortunately everyone stigmatizes the orginzation as losers, thus if they want to trade or get free agents, they must put up an exorbinate amount of cash to lure them in. i think they have some of the pieces to get gong. but their pitching staff still has little to be desired, and because of that, they won't really improve from last year.
