Ultimate Fight Night IV lineup so far

I know you did. That's why I laughed. I understood exactly what you meant and yeah, you were right. Except for the whole judges being morons part that got in the way.

Ha ha. But really, I get your point. How did Bonnar win that? He got in one good shot but Jardine kept his wits and covered up quickly. Other than that Jardine had the clear edge.

Jardine looks a hell of a lot better at this smaller size. Edit: Bonnar always ducks straight down, at some point someone is going to wise up and throw a looping hook followed by an uppercut and break his jaw.

30-27 Rashad? What a fucking joke UFC judging is. They have got to stop rewarding guys for lying on top of someone while the guy on the bottom tries to submit them.

Rashad will probably get the win even though he didn't do a damn thing in this fight other than a flurry of punches at the start of round 1.

Can somebody summarize what I missed. I just tuned in during Sam/Rashad.

Randy Orton suspended by WWE for 60 days

Did you not read the thread? If you want to say he's an annoying prick but he looks good that's fine, but it's just plain silly to pretend he isn't an annoying prick.

    THIEF

I thought Over There was pretty good actually. I didn't really get into it during the season but they had a marathon for a couple of nights a while ago that I watched. The parts with the families/wives at home sort of brought it down. Too many characters and too many changes in location. About 15 minutes of every episode felt like it could be thrown out. For example the guy who got his legs blown off was totally disconnected from the rest of the show and cast. The parts with the soldiers in Iraq were pretty good though.

    Hey BITCH

LOST is not great, it isn't even good. It's cheap, contrived and silly. Compare the death of a character on The Shield to the death of a character on Lost. One is extremely powerful, the other is boring and formulaic. To each his or her own, but IMO Lost is one of the most overrated shows on TV. Lost and 24 represent what I hate on TV- pointless check your brain at the door shlock. Dopey plots, poor characterization, poor acting. Cotton candy in television-show form. But again, whatever floats your boat. Sopranos just is not my cup of tea. I'll leave it at that. Oz was good. Homocide I haven't seen much of, I'm kind of biased against it knowing that they did L&O crossovers, although I've heard many people say that Homocide was quite good so I probably don't give it the respect it deserves. (I'm not a huge fan of L&O, it's ok but nothing that will bowl me over)

    Hey BITCH

It was a good episode. "That scene will go down in my life as probably the most defining moment of TV that I'll ever watch." It certainly was one of the best scenes of fiction on TV I've ever watched. I'd have a hard time picking something else over it. Some show on TV has to have the single best scene of all time, and that isn't a bad choice. Dames did sound a bit breathless but whatever - the show is excellent. The Shield is without a doubt the best drama I've seen on TV, by a wide margin.

The Shield, season 5, official thread

Yeah I agree. I'm not angry at Shane. He's just mentally unbalanced. I feel sorry for him. He's crazy in the most dangerous way - just off enough to be wild and dangerous but not off enough for people to immediately say "woah, that guy is a nutjob!" Shane did what he thought he had to do, not only for himself but to help out Ronnie and Vic, the same way Vic took out Terry for them. He probably sees it as stepping up to the plate. The worst part is he did it for everyone and they are going to be insane with rage when they find out. He's just a stupid kid that tries to imitate daddy and keeps fucking up.

    Hey BITCH

What is this thread about? Seriously, I am really out of the loop. Dames is upset at Leena why exactly? I really enjoy it when I see things like this on message boards. I invariably have no idea what is going on - somehow I just don't read the right forums or something. Has there been some sort of incredible drama unfolding here that I've been totally oblivious to?

The Shield, season 5, official thread

Christ that was terrible. I thought something was going to happen to either Shane or Lem. Shane has turned into season 1 Vic. You could see it happening in the conversation about Terry. Vic was the one who killed Terry and forced Shane to go along with it, but in the conversation they had tonight Vic sounded remorseful while Shane was talking about "protecting the team." God damn that scene was awful with the food then Shane just dropping the grenade in Lem's lap and Lem just acting shocked then blowing up. Shane really is Vic from season 1. But we never really got to know Terry and Vic has spent the last couple years at least trying to turn over a new leaf, so the impact of him killing Terry was lessened - it was essentially backstory. It seems like Shane has learned all the wrong lessons from Vic. Ever since I heard the tagline "conscience is a killer" and saw where this season was going I was mentally prepared for Lem to die but still...god damn. I also have to say the acting there was superb. You could tell from the body language that something was up, Shane was kind of distant and stiff. This season has been incredible, but I'm not sure I can stand another one like this. I was kind of hoping Lem would commit suicide and then next season would be quieter and more character driven with less "what fucked up situation are we going to get into next" plotting. Not that I mind that sort of thing, I just think I'm overloaded after the last two episodes. I am not one for hyperbole - these last two episodes have been some of the most amazing stuff I've ever watched on TV. First Kern and then Lem, and not in cheap stupid ways like you would see on a show like Lost. Killing off characters without it seeming contrived is hard to do but they really pulled it off. Damn. Just damn. Poor Lem. I feel like I did when my dog died. Edit: Some random thoughts: It's awful that everyone tried to use Lem as a chip to further their own ends and in the end Lem was the one who paid the price. Isn't that how life normally works out though? Leena and Dames: Don't take your silly argument to our wonderful Shield thread!

James Woods is a good call, even in garbage like John Carpenter's Vampires he's good.

It looked to me that they placed a spare mask over the guard's head and it was going to get twisted around so he could see everyone's faces (it appeared to have eyeholes in it) and then the 1-9ers would off him. I didn't see the Kern thing coming at all even though it did seem strange to me when that other thug stepped in when they were arguing and was like "let's leave this personal shit in the past and get it done!" And that was harsh when they were deciding what to do about Kern. To some degree I think they genuinely liked Kern. These guys are good guys that have a lot of bad in them, and Kern was a bad guy with a lot of good in him. What could they do? Drive him to the hospital? I thought at the end when Vic kissed the lawyer chick instead of talking to her about Lem that he might actually keep his entire meeting with Antwon a secret and let Lem die in prison. That would have been just amazingly evil.

Christopher Walken - he's Christopher Walken. End of story. Has he ever been bad in anything? From Deer Hunter to Suicide Kings to King of NY the man is pure gold. Hell he was even good in the Prophecy movies. I could also go with Clint Eastwood here. I love his westerns and the Dirty Harry films. (Or the good ones anyway!) Eastwood has a much larger range than most people would credit him for. Women are tough. Kate Beckinsale is very hot and also very classy and seems intelligent, and she can act well enough. She was good in, um, Brokedown Palace, Laurel Canyon (or so I hear, neve seen it) and Last Days of Disco. (I saw that movie when it came out and never realized that was her into last month or so) I can't honestly say I have a favorite actress. I do have a soft spot in my heart for Winona Ryder though. (Heathers, Beetlejuice, Reality Bites, Edward Scissorhands)

The Pumpkins was a nice touch. I don't know what's going to go on with Corrine. I'm going to guess he "frisks" her or something like that, against her will. I find it very hard to believe she would do anything with him after he fucked with her and her kids.

    World Baseball Classic

A-Rod is good. He has his bad days but everyone does. As far as the US not playing well - the other teams are good! Baseball at the Major League level is very diverse. Much more so than basketball. The US team is probably under-performing but this is in no way comparable to basketball where the US pros should still be much much better. You know what is missing in baseball these days? Black americans. It's pretty interesting. Most teams have few if any black americans on them, and college teams are largely the same. Almost all the darker players on MLB teams come from Central/South America.

Damn, all I can say is holy shit. That was insane. The writing was great. "We don't have dick - which is more than I can say for the victim." -obvious line but perfect delivery. "I don't need to take shit from MC Has Been" Kavanaugh's entire fucking crazy rant about piss. The scene where Kern and the security guard got killed was intense. And the scene at the end where Vic is talking about the change in plans. It's clear that they are totally clueless at this point and have no idea what the fuck to do. The writing did a great job of reflecting this, just the way Vic delivered his new plan sounded so childish and silly. "You'll go - hide somewhere!" They are just totally making it up as they go along. I have zero idea what is going to happen in the finale, I can't even hazard a guess. I'm sorry to see Kern go, I was just thinking before the episode that we haven't seen him in a while. Him getting shot was truly a holy shit moment. That just went so so wrong.

Um...he has been on all sorts of reality shows very recently. He was on Road Rules vs. Read World and the new Battle of the Network Stars, among others. It was not 5 years ago, more like 6 months ago.
