  1. As it stands right now the Jets would have the 4th pick in the draft. Unless they're willing to trade up (and with the number of teams that will be after the first pic to grab Leinart, the amount needed to trade up will be outrageous) they aren't going to be able to get him. Right now the top 4 are... 1.) Houston 2.) Green Bay 3.) San Fran 4.) Jets Houston will be looking for D'Brackshaw Ferguson all the way so they can't drop too far. Green Bay has their QB in Rodgers and will most likely grab Reggie Bush. A combo of Bush and Gato could be a more explosive version of the Dunn/Duckett duo. San Fran also has their QB and if Houston decides to stay at #1 to ensure they get Ferguson then I could see San Fran trading with somebody to allow them to grab Leinart. The Jets have a chance, but right now its no lock they get either Leinart or Bush.
  2. according to Ken Rosenthal; Oakland is close to signing Esteban Loiza to a 3 year $21mill deal. That just doesn't seem like a Billy Beane move to me.
  3. I'd vote for Bert Blyleven, Orel Hershiser and Jim Rice. Blyleven and Rick should already be in the Hall as far as I'm concerned, but I think I've said that many times before on here.
  4. I'm excited about his glove since I personally love watching strong pitching and defensive performances. If he does end up getting back to form offensively then that's just extra to me. I like the guy and as I've previously said I feel he's a RH version of Corey Koskie. Only thing bad about him is he makes about $3mill more a year than he probably should. On the other subject though if any team is becoming like the Yankees its the Mets. Last year they signed both Pedro and Beltran. Pedro fits the mold of aging superstar and the Mets might have to part with Beltran in order to get Manny (another aging superstar who's AVG, OBP, and I believe SLG too have all been decling slowly since his big 02 season). On top of all that they just traded away a couple good prospects for an aging Carlos Delgado (who might not even be able to play first base everyday by the end of his contract), are going to be throwing big money to Billy Wagner (34 years old with a history of arm problems), and they're going to be throwing quite a chunk of change towards Bengie Molina or Ramon Hernandez. If anybody is trying to do everything possible to win now then it would be them.
  5. you don't seem to understand that the Yankees build around aging veterans and one year wonders and don't have any fiscal restraints. Its not even worth debating anymore as you simply refuse to see it any other way. I will say that I'm happy to see the Red Sox bring in a young power pitcher (even if they had to eat the contract of Mike Lowell to do so) along with still developing a good farm system. I can't wait to see a rotation that's mainly built around Beckett, Papelbon, and Lester.
  6. I'd say it had more to do with Matt Millen's personel decisions. Harrington has shown glimpses here and there but he still doesn't have an O-line capable of protecting him long enough to even take a 5-step drop. Charles Rogers has been a bust, Roy Williams while producing good numbers has had injury problems, and drafting Mike Williams may have looked good on paper but it was a stupid move. I'd say if the next head coach fails then you'll see Millen finally get the boot too. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Mooch go coach a college team either.
  7. mike is evidently the new AngleSault.
  8. NESN said that if the Red Sox can't sign Johnny Damon then they might go along with the proposed offer of Bronson Arroyo and Kevin Youkilis for Torri Hunter. I don't understand completely why the Twins would settle on that but that's what was reported.
  9. are you Brazillian?
  10. CWM is a Free Formed Man Servant
  11. Josh Beckett is an expensive veteran? Seems to me the Red Sox are building for both now and the future. Right now they have two very solid 25 year old power pitchers in Papelbon and Beckett. Papelbon will be making the league minimum while Beckett will end up getting around $4-5mill in arbitration. The team also isn't about to trade Jon Lester unless of course they're offered the world. The Red Sox are going to soon have a rotation (barring injuries) where 3 of their top starters are going to be under 28 years old and very good as well. Not to mention the bullpen will have two young flamethrowers in Craig Hansen and Manny Delcarmen. They don't just build for the now but for the future as well, unlike the Yankees who for the past several years have given up draft picks to sign aging stars and have traded their farm system away for possible quick fixes. I've seen alot of Yankees fans act as if Wang is some super pitching prospect. He's an ok pitcher, but he's not as good as the reactions of most Yank fans would have you believe. Same with Cano.
  12. I wish the Pats had the Texans on their schedule
  13. Pats still put up quite the battle with both starting tackles, the team's two top running backs and the #2 reciever out along with everybody on IR. If everybody left gets healthy at the same time then who knows...maybe they do something in the playoffs. My head tells me they won't but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
  14. Your family obviously isn't interested in nurturing his intellectual growth. Of course if the Dallas/Denver game was on then his need to learn would have to be put on hold.
  15. Defense is playing badly all things considered. This game could be alot worse right now, but holding them to a bunch of FGs after the initial TD isn't too shabby.
  16. I take it we shouldn't be gambling on these ranks...
  17. If they need more first basemen then I know of one who will be available... St. Louis gotta COWBOY UP! anyways, Billy Wagner declined a visit to Boston. I know he's pretty much decided where he's going to be playing but he could have squeezed a bit more cash from the Mets or Phils by just taking a trip here. Mets and Red Sox officials are going to get together at the Winter Meetings to talk about Manny. Omar still wants him even after getting Delgado.
  18. I would think Bama
  19. I wasn't egging him on either. I just figure he's not going to like that comment. I have him on ignore so I don't give a fuck what he says. Anyways, I've found Slayer to be most knowledgable on both the Big Ten and Big Twelve
  20. If you didn't have Dama on ignore before this comment, well you're going to want to after he reads it.
  21. *places iggymcfly into an AIM chat with both Slayer and Edwin for about 5hrs* After that you'll be an expert on the sport. Slayer is the one that got me into College football about 4 or 5 years back. Before then I knew nothing of the sport as I didn't care to watch it. Now though I know more than I probably should. Still, I'd say he and Edwin are the main guys to talk to about this sport.
  22. he could be dead but the loss of Pat Morita is just over shadowing it completely and thus nobody has noticed. Mr. Miagi was just a Hollywood icon
  23. I think the thing that bothers me most about it is that the Seminoles REALLY backed into this one while BC is coming off of two wins. I know they'd get killed by V-Tech but hell, they deserve the chance in my opinion.
