See, from what I can recall.. I remember one of the reasons he chose LSU was because he didn't want to sit behind Vince... so how is he taking having to possibly sit for the next year or so after thinking he had a legit chance at making it as a starter for LSU? *shrug* I just think Ryan would've been a better fit for the offense we created for a QB like Vince. Oh yeah, I'm with the consensus that USC/Nebraska will be a lot closer than people think it will be. NU could keep it within a touchdown to 10 points agaisnt USC.

Most of my picks are due to either geography, or national exposure. Growing up in Houston drove me to rooting for the Astros, Oilers, Rockets and such. I would've kept a loyalty to the Titans, but much like the fans in Charlotte, I (along with most of Houston) were pissed off with Bud Addams for not only moving the team, but during their run to the super bowl, telling the media he'd wear the bowl ring on his middle finger to show it to everyone. A blatant shot at Houstonians so we basically all went to cheering for Dallas *cringe* or just falling back on either UT or AnM. NFL: Texans MLB: Astros NBA: Rockets (..god I wish we'd go back to the yellow/orange look..) NHL: Stars (..although our minor league team, the Aeros are damn good too) College: University of Texas / Notre Dame / Army Notre Dame because of their national exposure on NBC and always being able to see them on a Saturday afternoon. Texas, well.. it's my belief that here in Texas, you're either bred to cheer for UT or AnM and there's dual-rooting. Either you Hook 'Em, or you Gig 'Em.. I think the only thing we both agree on is that OU should die. Army... eh, my grandfather is a WW2 vet and that set the tone for us all. Rooting for Navy or attending Navy gets you removed from the family.

So yeah, Texas fucked up and I'd expect nothing less than a Cal-like drop in the rankings after their play tonight. Dama, while you're right to think the RRS will be closer... I just think that Texas come Oct. 7th will be a --bit-- more sound on offense. As far as OU possibly going undefeated in the Mediocre 12.. well, if they lose to UT.. I think they could lose to AnM at Kyle Field. Now I fucking hate AnM with a passion.. but the one thing any Texan cares about is OU getting fucked up and if Fran can get his boys up for the game, then I think OU might walk out a bit sore. (Of course, if AP can keep carrying the rock 20-30 times and Thompson can refine his passing a bit then OU could be a decent force). Hey Teke, what's the news with Ryan Perilloux? I haven't heard much about him after he snuffed Texas and caved into peer pressure to sign with LSU. Is he even inline for a starting job or have they tried to move him to a new position? I'm sure the RRS will actually be pretty competitive this year because, depending on what happens with UT/Ohio State, Texas might be trying to break in Jevan Snead and well, OU always picks up their play to face Texas... especially after last year's beatdown. If OU's only loss on the season is to Texas, and Texas either goes undefeated or is a one-loss team to Ohio State, OU won't get the nod over Texas, IMO. If OU were in the Big 12 North (like has been thought of by a few people) then they'd have a shot, but with the two of them stuck in the same conference, the loser of the Red River Shootout will more than likely get the nod for a bigger bowl / title game.

Honestly, I don't mind not having Madden to announce. I think him not being on the game is due to the whole shake up in TV rights that the NFL did just before the season and that EA didn't have the time to try and set up things for whatever channel and announcer John would be with this year. The whole radio thing actually gets me more pumped to play it. Don't know what it is exactly, but I just get more in-tune with the game and not have to worry about John bemoaning about my play-calling...
