  1. Pride and Prejudice...the comedy?
  2. I thought 40 year old virgin was the funniest movie I saw in the last few months. I'm gonna have to pick that up.
  3. I wouldn't call Todd Jones washed up. He had one of his better years last year.
  4. At this very moment - only two Marlins are making more than $1M next year, Brian Moehler and Ron Villone. Moehler just signed the deal yesterday, so that will stick, but Villone is gonna be gone. So after D-Train goes through arbitration, he and Moehler will be the only two players making over $1M on the entire team, barring any FA signings. Crazy.
  5. The worst besides the Marlins. We don't need that repeated 100 times.
  6. I think the Marlins had a good rule five as well - picking up Dan Uggla to potentially be the starting 2nd basemen. He had a good year last year in the minors - just needs to cut down on his Ks. 2005 AA Tennessee 498 ABs he hit .297/.378/.502/880 with 21 HR, 87 RBI, 52 BB, 103 K
  7. I'd also like to add that the Marlins payroll for next season is currently $18 million. That's not a typo. Joe Girardi has said they are looking to add some players at 2B and LF and that the payroll should settle around 30 million. Take that for what it's worth.
  8. Al, read your article. A few minor points: I think the prevailing notion is that Hanley Ramirez is going to start at SS. Joe Girardi has already comitted to getting Willingham back behind the plate and is going to give him special lessons this offseason, whatever that means. As for the pitchers, while Vargas and Olsen are not established, they did pitch for the big club last year. Vargas did manage to throw a 1 run, CG effort, so he may respond well this year. Overall - I agree. This is going to kill the franchise. Completely dead. But I also don't think they're going to lose 100 games next year.
  9. I've said it before and I'll say it again... Randy Marsh is God.
  10. The Florida Marlins may have the best minor league pitching roster of all time, at the moment. You figure by process of elimination, some of these guys are not gonna work out but when you have 15 potential MLB stars in your farm system, you have to figure that somewhere along the line you're going to end up with 5 aces. But where's the offense?
  11. I can't believe the Braves would move their #1 prospect for Edgar Renteria.
  12. You are aware that Todd Jones was un-friggin-believable last year?
  13. They're not that stupid. It was taken out of context by Newsday...surprise, surprise. Basically the Marlins wanted Cano and Wang for Pierre and the Yankees countered with Cano and Wang for Willis. The Marlins quickly said no, but apparently that makes them available. I don't know. As for the trade, the only teams that would be able to make a necessary trade would be Dodgers, Angels, D-Backs and that's about it.
  14. Being from Pennsylvania originally - the Phillies might be a logical choice but I've spent so much of my life disliking them - I'm not sure if I could do it.
  15. If they traded Cabrera or Willis, even I would say fuck it.
  16. The Clicksor ads scared the hell out of me. I thought I somehow managed to contract spyware on a mac and that would have been bad.
  17. Man, are they gonna end up regretting that contract...
  18. If AJ Burnett signs with the Blue Jays, the Marlins get screwed. The Blue Jays have the #14 pick in the draft - meaning that the pick is protected and can not to transferred to the Marlins. They have already given up their 2nd round pick in the BJ Ryan signing (he is rated higher by Elias) - so that would leave the Marlins with the Blue Jays 3rd round pick as well as the sandwich pick. Not exactly Class A.
  19. Well I was in to it from the beginning - so should he have just ended it then?
  20. UNC is ranked 24 in the latest poll. That didn't take long.
  21. That would be interesting. Eventually get the "real" flashbacks. That would be cool.
  22. They didn't just get a PTBNL. They got Gaby Hernandez, the Mets #3 prospect.
  23. Next year's team (not totally because I can't even begin to speculate who will come in for Pierre and Villone so for the sake of this discussion, JP is still on the team) C: Josh Willingham 1B: Mike Jacobs 2B: Robert Andino or Josh Wilson SS: Hanley Ramirez 3B: Miguel Cabrera LF: Joe Dillon (??) CF: Juan Pierre RF: Jeremy Hermida SPs: Dontrelle Willis Scott Olsen Jason Vargas Brian Moehler Whatever prospect is most ready I should also mention that there is heavy talk of one or two of the pitching prospects going to Tampa Bay for Toby Hall and Joey Gathright.
  24. Dodgers, Angels, and Marlins are at the top. Dodgers are still stacked and the Angels have a ton of potential superstar players. I'd say Marlins - but I'm biased.
