Saw the play on Sportscenter. It was nothing remarkable, really. He just went for a tackle low and the player kept running. And then he just kind of fell down. It didn't even look bad. It's a shame.

He was trying to give Jack McKeon a compliment during that rant for having two pitchers throw CGs in the first week. I just sat there and cringed. All they have to do is state the obvious - Dontrelle only threw 97 pitches and Beckett threw 113. They might have been CGs, but they didn't get overworked.

Phillies/Marlins start a three game set tomorrow! No matter how good or bad the teams are, I always get amped for this series. Growing up in PA, I always hated the Phillies and most likely always will. Leiter/Burnett/Willis go for the Marlins.

You mean Albert Pujols, quite possibly the best hitter in baseball.
-
You suck.

The human OBP machine Juan Encarnacion just hit his 2nd Grand Slam this week. Maybe he will proove useful this year after all - but thankfully he's back in the 7th slot. Beckett: CG shutout, 11 K. 2-0, 0.00 ERA

Overshadowed by Smoltz is Josh Beckett who has gone 7 IP with 0 ER and 8 K. Still has yet to allow an ER this season.

I love the Barry Gibb talk show as well.... I just think the absurdity of it is pretty funny. I was happy to see it last night.

They switched them for the first game and he hit 7th. He didn't play today.

Yeah. I'm not too high on him, but I think he'll be good as an 8th inning man. It was just a tough way to lose. The LoDuca ball looked to be a sure HR, and then Pierre's double with 1 out set the team up, but no one could drive him in. I just hope McKeon snaps out of it and moved Encarnacion back down to #7 from #2. A few great games doesn't make him a great hitter and he has no business batting 2nd.

I don't get it. Anyway, Nationals win. It was a tough loss.

A great bottom of the 9th in Miami. After Livan shut down the Marlins all game like he always does, Delgado hit a game tying HR. Two batters later, LoDuca drilled what looked to be a sure HR that saw all the Marlins stream out onto the field, but it hit just off the top of their very high scoreboard. To extras.

Tiger is charging hard at -8 through 8 holes of the 3rd round. He's in second and only four behind Chris Demarco at -12. Should make for an interesting finish.
-
HA! You're an idiot.
-
They should just call up Prince Fielder already. As long as they limit his access to the buffet line, he'll do fine.
-
2 HR for Cabrera tonight, the 2nd being an upper deck shot. Will go nice with the first complete game shutout in the majors (I think?). Got a bit dicey at the end, but Cristian Guzman earned his money by grounding into a second double play to complete the CG shutout.
-
7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER for Dontrelle in Miami. We could be looking at a complete game shutout. The problem with Willis is that for everyone of these games he'll trot out an 8 ER in 2 and 2/3 performance.

Hey Al, after reading a list of all of Charlie Manuel's medical problems in the recent ESPN the mag, are you even 100% certain he will survive the season...literally? And for the record, even I think ESPN the magazine's baseball preview was wrong for picking the Marlins to win the world series and Miguel Cabrera as NL MVP.

Isn't this America? I thought this was America? RANDY MARSH!

ESPN.com My favorite: June 3: Stuck on 493 career home runs and without a team to play for, Fred McGriff announces he has begun training for a return under the direction of pro scout and instructor Tom Emanski, whose teams have won back-to-back-to-back AAU National Championships.

Even better. I just hope they don't kick him off.

Once I write my Dodgers preview on this board, it should look clearer. As for the Giants, they have no hope without Bonds. Bonds created 183 runs last season. You take away 183 runs from the Giants, and they fall from 2nd to 13th in runs scored. That bumps them from 91 wins to approximately 69 wins. The Giants can flat out not win this division without Bonds. Let me save Al some trouble... the Dodgers have the best farm system in all of baseball. They have seven prospects in the Top 100 Prospect List, more than any other franchise, and Irvin "Joel" Guzman is going to be a stud. The Dodgers are gonna be pretty great in a few years.

Man, I didn't even think of that. He'll probably just find a bag or two and have to choose between saving Claire (or something equally poignant) and taking some.

"The greatest battle of all time is about to take place... to see which side can get the most media attention." "I found the paper. It says... If I'm ever in a vegetative state, please, for the love of God, don't show me on National TV." Matt and Trey always seem to deliver the perfect punchline. It was just perfect.
