My only question is...WHY DON'T YOU BRING IN BENITEZ?! It's so frustrating. He's warming up, all of a sudden it's not a "save situation" anymore and they sit him down?! Then you bring in Matt Perisho who interupts a sure double play to load the bases and Seanez who promptly allows a base clearing double. If Benitez came in when he should have, we'd be going to extra innings, instead you just lost a ball game.

Nah, that was Raj. I don't think he'll last too long. He's kind of like Sam in season 1. A little bit too eccentric and crazy. He'll get on everyone's nerves before long. No one mentioned it, and I also thought it was a terrible idea for a toy. I couldn't believe that was the best toy a bunch of guys in their 20s and 30s could come up with.

I would have wanted to slap that Stacie J girl for rambling on and on and becoming increasingly paranoid and obnoxious when no one was paying attention to her. That was just a total meltdown, and now her entire team hates her. Count me in on that sentiment.

The Sandlot?!?! Are you on drugs? That's an amazing movie! PF Flyers all the way.

Al, if you think this isn't sports related enough and want to move it to general chat, please do. Anyone still collect baseball cards? I gave it up in the mid 90s, but this summer I wasn't planning on working, but found myself short of cash. My cousin works for Topps trading cards, and she got me a job in the autograph department. It was pretty amazing seeing autographed cards of all the greatest players on a daily basis, including some dandies like the 2000 Bowman Chrome Pujols Rookie that is booking for $1000. So, based on that I'm back into it. I've had some great cards pass through my hands since I got back into it. I mostly collect baseball, but the one basketball box I bought had a LeBron James gold parallel rookie /25 that I sold on eBay for $480. That was pretty sweet. I, as you can imagine, only mostly collect Marlins cards, and have accumulated about 12 Miguel Cabrera autographs, most notably his 00 Traded Auto rookie that is currently worth $350. I think it will end up around $1000 or more though, just like the Pujols. So anyone still collect? It's a way different hobby now, and most good boxes cost over $100. More expensive, but you're more likely to get great cards. I'd be interested to hear from some people who still do.

6-0 Marlins. Looks like the Cubs are going to have to hope to get to the rookie in Game 2, because no way Pavano gives up 6 runs.

The Marlins and Expos will play Monday and Tuesday´s games at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago with Hurricane Ivan threatening South Florida. Both games will start at 1:05pm ET. This blows. That's 2 more "home games" the Marlins will have to play in Chicago, with the first happening today in Wrigley.

Well, the weekend has arrived. Some big series in the National League, including the Florida Marlins traveling to Wrigley field to begin a 4 game series with the Cubs, that starts in about 3 hours with a double header.

I remember a few years ago, when Rafael was in his first or second year in the major leagues, he got arrested for underage drinking, as he was only 19 or 20. I remember how at the time I couldn't believe that. Looks like a pattern?

No way he's on the block! He's really young and probably the foundation of the Pirates staff until he achieves free agency. Watching the Marlins play the Pirates for two series early in the year convinced me he is the real deal.

I'm excited to watch tonight's game. I'm more of an NFC fan, but I want to see if the Pats are as good as advertised and if the Colts can finally establish themselves as a team to beat, per se. It doesn't hurt that Peyton is my fantasy QB, either. I'm just glad the NFL is back, it makes Sundays a very good day again.

I have a cybershot DSC-P8 from Sony. I got it about two years ago when it was still in the $400 range, but it's come down quite a bit in price. It's an amazing camera, very small so you can fit it in your jeans/pants pocket to easily take pictures at social occasions, etc. It's 3.2 megapixels with a 3x optical zoom and 3x digital. That camera Deon linked to has no optical zoom, so I'd be wary or something like that! It would be terrible for sporting events/landmarks, etc. when you would need a good zoom. It has a digital zoom, but that just distorts the pixels.

I think you need to read that a few more times, Staravenger.

While "Jeopardy!" producers will have to write Jennings a big check, that rules change has paid off: the game show's ratings have jumped by 50 percent during his reign. Taken from the last paragraph of this article... http://cbs2.com/entertainment/entertainmen..._205182653.html
-
I'd warn this is a SPOILER, but based on the emerging coverage, you won't be able to escape this news today: Ken Jennings has lost. Reportedly, he went down in a show taped Tuesday -- his 75th in a row (by the way: Wednesday, he won his 41st). He had reached the $2.5 million plateau in winnings. Prediction: His loss (coming in mid-October) will be the most-watched game show of our generation. Six words: Put that episode in prime time. From ESPN.com's Daily Quickie. 75 in a row, holy fucking shit. And 2.5 million in winnings. This guy is going to be a celebrity for the rest of his life, and I agree with the writer of this article...That show is going to draw monster ratings if enough people know that it's going to happen.

Another reason the Cubs are going to win: John Kruk is going with the Marlins as his team to emerge from the N.L. wild card, so in other words they are a cursed franchise. Couldn't they have found someone a little better than Kruk? At least Harold Reynolds isn't a complete fool and he's a good TV personality to boot. I see little redeeming value in John Kruk at all.

Beckett gets pulled for Benitez to start the 9th, but 3 up 3 down and the Marlins win their 9th in a row. If Beckett and Burnett keep pitching like this, forget about it.
-
Speaking of Cy Youngs (or at least Cy Young talent) Josh Beckett has a shutout going against the Mets into the 8th. It would be his second straight complete game shutout, if he can do it.
-
Well, Cubs lose. So do the Giants, and it appears the Padres are on their way to another loss. The NL wild card just got a whole lot tighter as only the Marlins and Astros won tonight.
-
Wow, so nice it had to be posted in two folders.

This would have had no effect on me at all, but now that I go to school at UNC I'm all for any extra ACC hoops and tournament games. It doesn't launch until March, coincidentally just in time for March Madness.

ESPN2 HD isn't really a new network, but the launch of ESPNU, which features all college sports, all the time, is certainly an interesting concept. If you are looking for a source, I just saw it on the bottom line; haven't looked around online. Thoughts on ESPNU, the all college sports all the time network?

Either that or Dorn's wife was on the prowl again.
