  1. Now I want this to go 7 games.
  2. Wow. Flyers aren't....good. Shady, shady goaltending.
  3. I will be severely pissed if this is the third time in a row that Tampa Bay fucks over a Philadelphia team for a sports title. The Bucs in 2003 and the Lightning in 2004 and the Rays in 2008? No fucking thanks.
  4. You think after winning two World Series titles in the past four years after waiting almost seven, eight decades? (I forget how long it was) for one title would allow Boston fans to be a little bit less critical of their team. You guys still have a good team regardless, and will probably contend next season.
  5. Don't boo me, boo Craig.
  6. Seriously, I loved the Tigers/Cards matchup. If only Detroit could've been competitive it could have been one of the greatest series ever.
  7. That was a long ass lunch.
  8. I heard Owen's partner, the White Turtleneck, was unharmed.
  9. The first Survivor Series logo was awesome, the rest have sucked. The old RR logo was awesome, as well. Bullocks.
  10. Something I've been wondering, and maybe alkeiper can help me out. Jimmy Rollins has not been himself this season. I'm not talking about offensively, I'm talking about that guy who looks happy all the time, etc. He has shown no emotion really, and in Game 3 he was shown on the bench yawning and someone patting him on the back. I've been wondering if he has been dealing with personal problems, because nobody has talked about it in the Philly media. Maybe he's just so determined he changed his outlook and is all business? But ever since he came back from that ankle sprain, he just hasn't been the Jimmy Rollins I've seen since 2000. It almost seemed like he wanted out of Philly, especially after his comments on the fans being frontrunners. Just throwing it out there for an other Philly fan to see if they think the same.
  11. I really haven't cared about those infamous Philly fan stories until I have to hear it day after day after day. Of course I could just shut the TV off, but it just sucks me in that the only story people have on Philly is their fans. That's it. It's like it's saved on their hard drive or something and they just switch the opposing teams. And if those fans were drunk, nothing is really too outrageous to be true.
  12. The only worry I have, obviously, is if the week layoff is going to have an effect on the players. I really hope not, because I would love for them to steal a game in the first two and if by some miracle they could win the WS in 5 games I'll stay on Broad Street until they arrest me. Well, maybe not, but you get the point.
  13. From what I've heard out of LA these past three games, it seems like LA fans are just as bad, if not worse than Philly fans. Also, their media believes Torre should've taken them to the promised land, when they didn't have that great of a season. It's easy to string a manager up after he definitely mismanaged Game 4, but they need to stop acting like they expected a championship this season and it was a total failure. If anything, they need to be praising Torre for how he handled his team down the stretch and look forward to next year. What I meant by their fans is I've heard from Philly fans and media who are out in LA for the three games that the LA fans threw shit, beat up people and the like to the point that security had to move the Philly fans to a club box. I know if it was in Philly it'd be one of the top stories right now. Anthony Gargano is a pretty respected sports personality throughout the country as he has covered the Cubs, Mets, and Red Sox I think (may have been Glen Macnow), and he said one of the postgame reporters from FOX Philly was getting punched, hair pulled, food thrown at her. Yes, her. LA fans take out their anger on women. Nice. Sorry, just wanted to get that off my chest. Ever since hearing that, it's really gotten to me since I have to deal with the Philly fan stereotype all the time from out of towners. Unless someone is a fan of a Philly team and lives inside the city or the suburbs, they really don't have a clue. (ah, and Mark Grace saying "Dodgers need to watch out, they may get batteries thrown at them" not once, but twice really annoys the shit out of me.)
  14. I almost wanted to cry. This is the moment I found out how emotionally invested I am in these Philadelphia sports teams. My love is baseball so the Phillies going to the WS where they have a chance against TB or Boston make me just wanna stay home tomorrow and take it all in.
  15. Madson has not thrown this hard ever. Pleasant surprise.
  16. For all intents and purposes, on a full count the hitter HAS to swing at anything close. That was close enough to warrant a swing and at least foul it off.
  17. Unless you were in the Impact Zone when Angle said it, you really are as clueless as the rest of us.
  18. I don't see how rating could be lower for Rays/Phils. Philly is the #4 media market, the most passionate sports market in the US, and starving for a championship. It's going to get a huge market share. Plus there's enough fans in the Northeast he have reasons to tune in to root against either team. The Rays are a great underdog story that will draw in a decent amount of casual fans. It's easily the most appealing match up this decade. The last World Series I cared about was 2001 because I was sick of the Yankees getting all the 9/11 love despite being the evilest franchise in North America. Is this the same Philadelphia that was drawing less than 2 million fans a year to Phillies games for the better part of a decade recently? If by most appealing you actually mean least, then I agree wholeheartedly. Even if EVERYONE in Philadelphia watched every game it would still be one of the lowest rated WS of all time. The reason the fans weren't showing up for the Phillies games was because the owners never seemed to care about winning. They didn't want to spend and they didn't go out and get good players. It was more of a "fuck the owners" type attitude than "fuck the Phillies".
  19. At least we're all lucky he isn't being jobbed out.
  20. The only shortie I received was Foley/Orton, I don't have the PTW episode, the NWA episode ( I do have the Supertowns episode), or the Old School LA show. Very disappointing, and one of the few problems I have had in the past year.
  21. That's what sucks about network television. They care about ratings too much when it comes to sporting events. Phillies/Rays is possibly the best series matchup for the true baseball fan, but all the Hollywood lovers and casual fans want Dodgers/Red Sox.
  22. Yeah, why did they start doing that? As far as I can remember, the WS always opened on a Saturday night. And oh my God MLB wants money and so do advertisers and networks, so the day off between each series allows each series to have some prime time games instead of always having two games every day. But for the WS? That is a bunch of shit.
  23. I really fucking hate the Penguins. We played so well.
  24. Sad and awesome at the same time.
  25. Thanks for the clarification.
