Yess I finally got to see "Once More with Feeling" today!

 

It was as cool as people said. I literally teared up a couple of times.

Too bad you had to see the edited version...when it first aired on UPN it ran about 8 minutes longer.

I loved the cheesy little opening credits and the "The End"

 

It was just done so well. And did everyone do their own singing? In that one scene it really looked like Dawn wasn't doing her own singing.

I don't remember exactly...I just remember that on the rebroadcast it was shorter. I'm pretty sure Xander and Anya's song was missing a verse or so, I think "I've Got A Theory" was cut short...plus some other stuff to trim it to an hour with commercials.

I don't know really. I know all the singing was done in studios and dubbed over the voices in the episode. I'm pretty sure everyone did their own singing. You'll notice the weaker singers didn't have many lyrics though (Willow & Dawn)

The scene where Dawn was singing with Sweet her lips weren't fitting with the words very well is why I asked. If that was really her she didn't do too bad.

I'm almost 100% sure that everyone did their own stuff...and I had a whole new respect for Tara after that episode.

Everybody did indeed do all of the singing on their own. James, Tony, and Amber had previous singing experience, while the others did not. A job extremely well done all around, I thought.

Correct. Ghost of the Robot is the name of it. I know they released an album a short while ago.

 

Adam Busch (Warren) also has his own band.

Cool I decided to download some stuff of theirs and I ran across a cover of "Come As You Are" they did and it's not half bad.

I finally watched that episode too tonight, and it did indeed kick ass.

 

SO much of the storyline was advanced, it was great. Everything just click together, it was great.

 

Dawn didn't look like she was singing, they must of pulled a Britney Spears with her. Tara is an great signer, but Willow sucked big balls.

 

Joss must of worked forever on this episode. I remember reading at Buffyguide.com, with the archive from the Bronze messege board, that he was working on it since season 5. He didn't know if it would be good or not, but of course with his creative mind, he pulled it off.

Willow's reaction to Buffy saying she was in Heaven was great acting.

 

I also loved Spike's reaction at the end when he realized he didn't need to be singing.

Yeah, Willow didn't sing much because Aly was terrified to do it.

 

Joss had been saying how he wanted to do a musical for years, but he just never had the time to do it. At the start of Season Six, he surprised everybody by showing up with everything written (of which he did over the summer). They did the ep while filming the first seven episodes of the season as well. They had it set up so everybody could go do a scene on another ep when they weren't needed on the OMWF set.

I think in the second Watchers guide Anthony Head talks wanting to do a musical if Joss would write one up. And that's far and away the best musical a tv show has ever done.

 

Maybe Dawn just isn't a good lip syncher. Willow only had one little solo line in "I"ve Got A Theory," and then another tiny part in "Walk Through The Fire"...other then that she had other voices backing her.

I knew I missed something at the end of the show. I was on the phone, and everyone was still singing. I didn't know that was when Buffy told them she was in heaven, damn it.

 

And Spike's reaction was grand.

They did indeed cut out quite a bit from the original UPN version. I had the TV on in the background as I was making dinner last night and more than a few times said "...Wait a minute! That's how how it went!" It was little things but noticable still. The full version is available on Kazaa and WinMX.

I can't connect to Kazaa at school because my room has the only firewall on campus it seems. Everyone else can connect, but me. I am home for SB, and I can connect at home, via a modem. So it takes forever for the download to transfer all the way.

 

Anyway, I've been downloading "The Body" for 4 days. And when it finally finishes, the damn thing is just a sound file. I FUCKIN HATE THAT. It is soo annoying.

 

Sorry for the rant, I was a bit pissed. I hope "Hush" doesn't do the same thing.

I hate that too... although, it would be incredibly funny in an ironic way if you get Hush and the sound doesn't work...

Whoo, I finally saw "Once More" this morning. Pretty fun stuff all around....

 

"He got the mustard out!"

 

And though Willow ain't a great singer and she sang only a couple lines on her own, she had one of the best lines in the episode...

A litttle tidbit for those that may not know - Mustard Guy is writer/director David Fury and the woman singing about the parking ticket is writer/director/exec producer Marti Noxon.
