Hell Yeah. I am going to my first ever playoff game, in the next 2 weeks. I believe its October 10th, when game one of the League Championship begins. Of coruse, Atlanta is gonna get past the Giants, (:D) so I am getting tickets for game 1 of round 2 in Atlanta! It's gonna so kickass. Very excited.

Anyone else going to any postseason games?

While I think the Braves can beat the Giants (and they probably will), there's no bigger let down than having tickets to a play-off game that isn't going to happen.

Go (anybody but the Braves & Yankees)!

I'm thinking about rooting for the Twins and D-Backs.

Rooting for my Phillies would be pretty pointless.

I live in cincy and have to deal with the bengals and reds, not to mention bob huggins just had a heart attack so I feel no sympathy toward atlanta fans.

Wow--Giants v. Braves. The biggest individual playoff-choking player in MLB history vs. the yearly underacheiving, disappointing, tried to call themselves "Team of the 90s" until the Yankees shut them up, boys from Atlanta.

I can hardly contain myself.

Hey Spiff, Phillies guy here as well. How about that T. Lee going all out for a foul ball and making a great catch in extra innings!!! Course, by doing that, the winning run scores...

Sigh...

What right do the Braves have to even TRY to call themselves the 'Team of the 90s'? Sure they had the most division titles, but they won as many Championships as Cincinnati did during that time period, so that completely takes them out of the running.

And, while the Yankees would be the team of the 90s, the Braves aren't even second. That goes to the Blue Jays. Sure, Atlanta was more consistent over that time period (the Jays from 94-97 downright sucked), but the Jays have 3 division titles, plus 2 World Series under their belt (even beating the Braves one year). But the Jays teams of 1998 and 1999 were decent (both 80+ win seasons), but were unfortunate to be in the same division as the Red Sox and Yankees, who both years were the wild card and division champions respectively.

And that's my little rant.

You're absolutely right. The Braves and their fans really believed that. In fact, I think they had their one world series ring engraved with "Team of the 90s".

I actually remember, back when they were playing the Yankees, I think, reading an interview of one of their executives. He said something like, if you look at Wins, winning Percentage, division titles, etc., then they were the team of the 90s.

He acutally said, "except for one stat--WS championships--then we are the team of the 90s". I had a really good laugh on that one.

I consider the Braves to be the team of the 90s. They were in the playoffs every year but 90 and 94 (when there weren't any playoffs).

They played in 5 World Series, but only won 1 of them in 1995. Just to play in 5 World Series out in a 9 year span (10 years minus 1994) is an achievement of its own, even if they didnt win them.

The Yankees on the other hand went to 3 World Series in the same 9 year span, winning all 3 times. The Yankees made the playoffs 5 of the 9 years. Also consider that the Yankees had to use a wild card to get into the 1997 playoffs, (Finishing behind the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East), whereas the Braves made all their playoff appearances by winning the NL East (NL West before realignment).

Also up for consideration:

Between 1995-1999, the Braves played in The all 5 NLCS, where as the Yankees only played in 3 (1996,1998,1999) as they were eliminated in the ALDS twice.

Playing in 5 World Series during that time period is impressive, yes, but winning only one of them disqualifies them, in my mind, from 'Team of the 90s' status.

Going by World Series wins in the 90s, its:

-Yankees

-Blue Jays

-Braves and a bunch of others

The Braves place number 3 on my list, simply because they appeared in all of those World Series, and also due to their great regular season records. But they did NOT win every division title from '91 onwards.

What if the Braves did this year has to be considered a miracle.

No one expected their bullpen to be any good and Julio Franco?? Matt Franco??? Vinny Castila???

Yet they were the best team in the NL and won the division for the 11th straight year.

I believe they are the team of the 90s

Why are the games on ABC Family. WTF is that station anyway. Do most people even get that network or not?

Go Twins. It's not going to be easy with Oakland's Big 3 and postseason experience, but the games this season have been close and the games should at least be close.

ABC Family is available pretty much everywhere Verne.

It used to be The Family Channell and then Fox Family.

I don't think Family Channel is available in Canada so does anyone know when the games are on then

I was just digging around the folder and thought it was funny to see someone so cocky that the Braves would take out the Giants, which obviously wasn't the case, as the Braves didn't make it out of the first round. Sort of like this year.

Of course my question is whey didn't he just get tickets for the NLDS series? At least that way you are sure of seeing a postseason game.

And going to MLB postseason play is great -- Games 3 and 4 of the '92 NLCS here. Should have gone to Game 5, but c'est la vie...

I always look at threads from the first post then from the bottom up. It's just funny to see Bob talking about ABC family and then going back to see where the fuck that came from.

Man, we can really get off topic around m'yeah.

You French fuck.

I know, I know.

The only reason I parle francais is because I took this stupid language for 2 years in high school (that’s where all the cute chicks went – too bad I had no shot with ANY of them) and spent good money to take a year of this garbage in college because I had to fulfill a foreign language requirement. That's the only way Academia can keep these profs that otherwise would be unemployed if they had to sell their wares in the Real World -- to force you to take stupid courses that you have no need of enrolling in.

Although I’ve noticed if you do parle francais at the right place you might have a chance to hit it off with a chick that took/takes that class in school…

If you ever "parle francais" around me. I'm going to punch you in the face.

If we ever meet in real life.

"If we meet in real life"? WHAT KIND OF PUSSY HIPPIE HUGGIN COMMIE CRAP IS THAT.

If you were a real MAN you would punch him through the computer screen.

Pussy..
