Guest B-X Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 So yea. 15 days to go till the Audioslave album hits. Granted, I already have the CD, but I want to see how far it'll go on the charts. And you will ALL buy it. Because thats what I want.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Well then I'll buy it* I'm digging Cochise so hopefully everything else will be equally wicked. *by buy I mean steal.
Guest Madmartigan21 Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 This is the first albumn by ANYBODY that I've looked forward to in sometime. A couple of questions though: 1. What does "Cochise" mean, and why is the song called that? 2. In the video Chris Cornel is NOT playing guitar. Does he play it on the albumn?
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I always get all these bands mixed up because of their names among other things. Isn't there some group called Audiovent or something? Anyway, I bring this up because it is one of the main reasons I put Madden on mute during the options screen, at least until I get to the actual game. Than I put it on mute again because of Al Michaels. God I love Madden...
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Oh shit. I totally forgot that this is basically Rage Without Zach. My bad... Still, Madden rules it.
Guest HungryJack Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Cochise was an Indian chief , who was screwed or something.
Guest Madmartigan21 Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 From Launch - NEWS - Audioslave's Tom Morello Discusses 'Cochise' Guitarist Tom Morello told LAUNCH that the band looks at the tune as an attack on today's rock scene. "The song title was inspired by the last great American Indian chief to die free and absolutely unconquered, who during his days as a leader was uncompromising in his fury, as Cochise the avenger when his people were wronged and was known more than anything else for leading his warriors on a warpath to end all warpaths. And our song sounded exactly like that." That's exactly the kind of prententious thing I'd expect from a Rage Against the Machine member. Eh... but the song rocks, so why complain?
Guest B-X Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 This is the first albumn by ANYBODY that I've looked forward to in sometime. A couple of questions though: 1. What does "Cochise" mean, and why is the song called that? 2. In the video Chris Cornel is NOT playing guitar. Does he play it on the albumn? I'll quote Tom Morello on this.. "Cochise was the last great American Indian chief to die free and absolutely unconquered. When several members of his family were captured, tortured, and hung by the U.S. Cavalry, Cochise declared war on the entire Southwest and went on an unholy rampage, a warpath to end all warpaths. He and his warriors drove out thousands of settlers. Cochise the Avenger, fearless and resolute, attacked everything in his path with an unbridled fury. This song kinda sounds like that." And yes, Cornell does play guitar on some tracks, however, I'm not sure which ones.
Guest redbaron51 Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I'm not pleased with Cochise, but the song will eventually grow on me
Guest converge241 Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 i dont like the equation that ive heard Chris Cornell vocals + rage music sound (which does NOT gel) multiplied by heavy aping of Led Zeppelin = crap Id rather listen to goddamn awful downset than hear anymore of that stuff
LaParkaYourCar Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 i dont like the equation that ive heard Chris Cornell vocals + rage music sound (which does NOT gel) multiplied by heavy aping of Led Zeppelin = crap Id rather listen to goddamn awful downset than hear anymore of that stuff Have you actually listened to the music or are you just assuming that? I like Cochise and I'm anxious to hear the rest even if I don't agree philosophically with the band member's views. I didn't with Rage either, but still enjoyed a lot of their music.
Guest converge241 Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 what ive heard is Cocheise so like i said thats the equation that ive heard, that was enough to turn me off and Cornell is my favorite singer ALL TIME so im actually going in with a bias and still turning away. just MO, thats all
Guest B-X Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 I have some... *ahem* Advance copy of Audioslave. Cochise is actually one of the average songs on there. Why they chose it for the first single, I dont know.
Guest converge241 Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 i will still give an open listen to the album but man Cociese = Whole Lotta Love
Guest goodhelmet Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 i will still give an open listen to the album but man Cociese = Whole Lotta Love hah! i thought i was the only one who put that connection together. hey, i like rage, i like soundgarden so i'll give the entire thing a shot. plus, once it is released it will be easy to get all of the songs off kazaa. no harm, no foul.
Guest imajackoff? Posted November 13, 2002 Report Posted November 13, 2002 I freakin' love Rage, but I've never been a fan of Soundgarden. "Cochise" is the only song I've heard from Audioslave, and the one thing I kept thinking was that this is kick ass music, with average, forgettable vocals. Vocally, Zack was the perfect fit for the band. The few things I've heard Zack do outside of Rage havent impressed me either. Why couldnt they just get along?? yeeesh.
Guest geniusMoment Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 Well I hope everyone likes this one CD because they already have broken up.
Guest Angle is Wrestling Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 Are you sure they broke up? I just got through watching a brand new show on MTV about Band break ups and Chris Cornell said, "I'm glad to finally be in a band where I get along with everyone"
Guest Madmartigan21 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Now that the albumn is out, I'd like to hear thoughts on the whole thing by people that have it.
Guest converge241 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 "Are you sure they broke up? I just got through watching a brand new show on MTV about Band break ups and Chris Cornell said, "I'm glad to finally be in a band where I get along with everyone" " they broke up right after they finished recording the first album (their two label contract requires them to record an album for each label)right before the Ozzfest, when they had to scramble to get a replacement, when the band was called Civilian then they reunited I saw cornell on that ultrasound special and he was either being: tounge in cheek or bullshitting
Zetterberg is God Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 This album is solid. Good guitar work by Morello and equally good vocals from Cornell. I'd say it's one of the best releases of this year
Guest Syxx Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 This album is solid. This is the hardest Cornell has sounded since badmotorfinger, not to mention he is showing more vocal range than ever. The Rage guys are also showing a lot of diversity, playing their awesome hard hitting riffs, but also toning it down for some of the slower ones. All in all this is my favorite album of the year, and a must for any Soundgarden fan, and most rage fans. And NO the band has not broken up, they will be touring soon, and their second album is already in the can waiting for a release date probably next year.
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 Few questions for my Illusion-ites... 1) Officially YES OR NO has this band split? 2) Does anyone know where i can find a proper review of the new album or does anybody feel like going into a little detail about it and giving their overall opinion? Many thanks in advance, humble followers Illusion - Egotistical
Guest B-X Posted November 28, 2002 Report Posted November 28, 2002 No, they didnt break up. I dont know what the fuck that dude was talking about.. You could check Botters review at 411. Thats all I've seen.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted November 29, 2002 Report Posted November 29, 2002 The only review I have seen is Botter's. I'll say that is definitely worth piking up. There really isn't a bad song on the album, which is ALWAYS a good thing. I have a certain theory as well that well, ensured I wil like this album. It's more of a commandment I have for myself: Whenever Chris Cornell's voice is heard singing on a record, thou shoult purchase that record. That hasn't failed me yet.
Guest B-X Posted November 30, 2002 Report Posted November 30, 2002 Whenever Chris Cornell's voice is heard singing on a record, thou shoult purchase that record. Word.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Posted November 30, 2002 Report Posted November 30, 2002 I must be the only one who thought that Audioslave sucked a fat one.
