So it's okay Rock has used the Sharpshooter...

I was watching it last night, when he did the sharpshooter, and it looked like a credible move again! Why, because Storm had it locked in perfectly.

Remember the night when Triple H and Austin took out The Rock the night after Wrestlemania X-7? Rock put the sharpshooter on McMahon to get the title shot, and I remember saying to myself, "what the hell is that?" Even I thought I was too good to tap to that shit. It was one of those times where Rock should've let go, punched him in the face, and done it correctly to repeat the spot.

Everybody does the Sharpshooter better than The Rock. Austin does, Michaels does, Eddy does, etc. You can get Johnny Stamboli out there doing the move to a jobber on Heat and I'm sure it would look better.

The thing about a half-crabs and perhaps other moves such as the crucifix armbar, is that they look dreadfully simple. While these moves are in reality more effective than any Figure 4 variation or Sharpshooter, the psychology doesn't come across to the viewer. Especially in the case of the Half Boston Crab. To the technically uneducated, they're thinking why the attacker wouldn't just do a full Boston Crab. If just hooking one leg seems to hurt so much, why not hook both? Two is always better than one, right? Only after gaining some knowledge of submissions and the move particularly does a viewer start to realize that the tork and pressure of a single leg crab is much greater than the smaller amount on a full crab. Unfortunately, all this is much too complicated for a WWE announce team to convey to an audience, especially one that has a very small attention span. While an argument can be raised for the simplicity, yet overness of the Anklelock; this is a move that is unlike any other, much like Mandible Claw. When fans first see it, they accept it for what it is unlike the dynamic created between half crabs and full crabs.

BTW, I think Lance might have looked better in his red & white tights, but the red trunks are definitely better than his last pair of tights (the black ones with the x's). Plus, Triple H began to rise to the ME scene after ditching the tights, so you never know.

I've never understood why Rock can't do a decent sharpshooter. It's not like it's a complicated move to perform. Couldn't Rock have taken an hour to learn how to use the move without looking like a total dumbass doing it.

[And the point I'm trying to make is JR flips out how it's wrong that someone steals Bret's signature move on Raw, yet Rock's been doing it for what? 2 years? That's just stupid.

Lance Storm is a heel. All J.R. was doing telling people that a heel had no business using the great Brett Hart's signature move.

Course they do, look at hurricane

Yep, and we all feel sorry for him, you know..having to work the RAW Main Event every week and all...

ANYWAY, People cared about Lance Storm when he had that ULTRA hot Canadian angle going in WCW, one of the few things they got right. Before the whole 'Team Canada' bullshit, when Lance was on his own, he was quite the entertainer. I say put Lance back into a situation like this, ditch Regal, give him back his sick red and black long tights, have him viciously defend in country to the point where it sickens the audience and watch as it WORKS.

Then again, that would MAKE SENSE, wouldn't it Vince?

Rocky's version of the Sharpshooter is a lot close to Sting's Scorpion Deathlock in the way he crosses the legs.

But Sting didn't look like he was taking a shit.

Damn right!

I can't stand it when The Rock slaps on the sharpshooter. I feel punching his face in.

I've never understood why Rock can't do a decent sharpshooter.

1) He's too Tall, so the move doesn't come off looking "tight."

2) He tries to do it more like Owen Then Bret. Owen always spread his legs apart, unlike Bret who would make it look legitimately Painful by keeping his legs straight forward.

But still...even the casual fans know that Rock used it, so does that make Rock a heel?

No! Because Rock was a face. J.R. will say a face is honoring Brett Hart but a heel is stealing the move.

Maybe we should point out that Benoit has been using the Sharpshooter as a finisher along with WWE giving Benoit the sell that he can win with a variety of moves
