Since WWE is so bad...

Recommended Posts

Guest Mole

Since WWE has been pretty bad lately, what makes you keep on watching?

For me, it is a few things.

First off, the wrestling on Smackdown. Every week I read the spoilers, and if I find out one of the matches is awesome, I make sure I tune in. For some reason, I can miss Smackdown, and not get pissed off. I guess it is because there is no element of suprise on the show, because it is taped.

On the other hand, I never miss Raw. Ever since ECW came back, I made sure I don't miss a Raw, because you never know what is going to happen. That is another reason I watch Raw, the element of suprise because it is live.

I also watch Raw to see my favorite two wrestlers, Booker T and RVD. And as of lately, Scott Steiner wants me to keep on watching. For some reason, I just like him.

Plus, I keep on watching just because I love wrestling. No matter how bad it is, I'll keep on watching.

What about you guys? Discuss.

Addiction, I've been watching for over 20 years now. Even when I try to avoid it, I end up going back to get my fix. Plus the blind belief that things have just got to improve at some point.

Because I know someday it'll get better and I don't want to miss it.

A lot of ppl hate RAW, big time. Ok, I don't like RAW, but I still watch. I keep thinking, one of these days, it will turn out to be good.

The main reason I watch it: WWE SMACKDOWN

Maybe I'm in denial. But, it's more of a habit then addiction for me.

I've been watching for 18 years now. Hard to break something after that long.

Plus, I watched the Crap from the early 90's turn into something really special between the years of 96 - 99.

Just hoping I see something like that again.

I still like Smackdown, and I did quit watching RAW. So I still watch it because one of the shows is good. If Smackdown sunk to RAW's level I wouldn't watch anything.

RAW would be better off taped. The WWF is bleeding money right now, and going live costs too much. It doesn't make any difference whether a show is live or not. Back in 1998 & 1999 when RAW was taped every other week, it made no difference whatsoever in the ratings. I can see that they have no choice but to have it live after PPVs, but it can be taped otherwise.

I still watch because I'm a wrestling fan and even though business is down it could be a lot worse. I mean, look at the WWE roster right now. It has the greatest assembly of talent in history. Besides, things will turn around eventually and I don't want to have to read or hear about it when I could have seen it for myself.

Well since I am at work during the showing of Raw and Smackdown, I tape them which is a HUGE aid in watching them. Just fast forward the crap I don't want to see. Sometimes when I get off work early and have the oppurtunity to watch RAW live, I abstain because I know I won't be able to avoid certain things, so I just go watch MNF in the other room or whatever else is on.

I concur. It's not like in wCw where they had great talent but no one to guide them into greatness (bookers, writers, etc.) They were a lost cause with no hope of succeeding. WW_ has both great talent and leadership with a proven track record and the potential for greatness (Heyman, anybody except Steph and Gerwirtz), so I too don't want to miss out.

It's getting harder and harder, though, and my interest is actually waning to the point where I use my VCR more and more. Upside: I'm following football a lot more and remembering how much I liked it as a kid.

For me, it's pretty much like a drug addict that's hit rock bottom. I know it's bad, but for some reason I'm hooked and can't stop.

Mostly Smackdown, w/ the occasional bright spot on Raw.

People I enjoy watching: Hurricane, Booker, Jericho, Storm, Bischoff, Trish, Victoria, Molly, Stevie, O'Haire, Stamboli, Christian, Eddy, Chavo, Rey, Benoit, Angle, Kidman, Knoble, Mattitude, Palumbo, Lesnar, Shannon Moore, Heyman, RVD, Flair, Kanyon, Rhyno, Hugh Morus/Bill DeMott.

That's plenty of reasons for me to watch.

I watch because there is still enough I like about the WWF for it to be worth my time. Sure, I dislike the Raw main event scene, but the main event is the last thing airing, so I can merely shut off the TV when that happens, or just ignore it, which is what I usually do. I enjoy most of the Raw midcard, so it is certainly worth it to see them even if they may not be the greatest wrestlers in the world.

As for Smackdown, I enjoy most of the show. Heck, they even made the Big Show seem partially interesting. Plus, with guys like Tajiri, Matt Hardy, and the like showing up ever so often, I am happy. I wish they had Funaki on more, but c'est la vie.

I watch for Smackdown! mostly, and the occasional good time on RAW. It isn't the talent on RAW, really, it's the direction and handling of the creative, storytelling elements. If they can get that on track, and kill off whatever backstage politics there might be, they'll be fine.

But mostly for Smackdown! and seeing HBK back again, and RVD/Jericho/BookDust on RAW.

1. I am a die-hard fan of pro wrestling.

2. I love to watch certain performers such as Chris Jericho and Christian, Rey Mysterio, Brock Lesnar, etc.

3. WWE is like pizza or sex, even when it's bad it's still pretty good.

4. It's free.

5. I might see HHH tear his quad again.

6. Football sucks.

7. If I don't watch, how will I know if/when the product turns around?

Nothing else is on Monday night unless the MNF game interests me which it doesn't this week. Also there's nothing on from 9-10 on Thursday, but i don't watch smackdown until 9.

Because just when I tink they can't get any worse, they bust out a moment that makes me a fan again. After said moment, they will slowly go back to sucking and I will await the next cool thing.

There's always the hope it will get better.

And I'm a WWE fan for life. I'll still watch even if it's Bossman vs. Haku in the main events.

My remote just seems to wander over to that channel all on it's own. I've tried to stop it. Maybe I need a new one.

And there was a time when Bossman-Haku wasn't all that bad. Especially if Heenan was at ringside.

I don't even watch anymore. I read rants and reviews online and order the PPVs with my friends if they sound decent. If I'm really bored I turn on the weekly shows.

insert TIVO 2001 joke here

characters are actually developing on Raw too bad they always screw it up at the end with sex jokes. Still waiting for a Main Event to develop but only god-uh is there, on Raw. The lowcard and midcard now have characters but of course there is a glass ceiling so oh well.

Why can't HHH be a movie star like the Rock so he can disappear to Hollywood for months, and only show up on tv for movie hype.

I guess it's mainly because I'm a diehard WWE fan, and I'll never stop watching, no matter how bad the product is. I mean, there were times recently which I'm glad I didn't miss it, ie. Bischoff announcing the Elimination Chamber match, the return of Steiner, the return of the nWo, and the return of Bischoff. Okay, the last three weren't recent, but it proves my point. Anything can, and will most likely happen in the WWE, and that's another reason that I watch is the element of surprise, especially on RAW since it's live.

There is a simple reason why I still watch the WWE, no matter what the shape is of it's product...

It make me better appreciate times when things good happen. When I see all this crap happen on TV, whenever I see something I like happen, it brings a smile to my face.

Oh, and because the Goddess is part of the company.

It comes on for free.

I would order Smackdown only PPVs. I just won't pay for something only to see more than half the show suck (RAW + Big Show), as opposed to a couple of things (Big Show & Al Wilson).
