Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted January 6, 2003 If you wrestled for the WWE for a living, would you really care about the backstage politics, who wins and loses, or putting on **** matches? Or would you just care about the paycheck getting into your pocket?
Guest NoSelfWorth Report post Posted January 6, 2003 I'd care about taking pride in my work, and getting what I deserved and had earned. I'd be real mad if someone was derailing my push due to his insecurity.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 6, 2003 To get as good as possible, but angry if some one like H-man was telling me I don't know how to work. And for WWE to keep the same shitty writers, but cut MY pay when it's THEIR fault the shows are often so shitty.
Guest Rob Edwards Report post Posted January 6, 2003 As much as I'd like to wrestle for pride, it's a short career that could end with one botched spot so money would always be at the forefront of my mind
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted January 6, 2003 To please the internet of course
Guest Banky Report post Posted January 6, 2003 I'd be in it to do what *I* want, not any smarks. If I wanted to cut an interview with inside lingo, I'd do it. If I needed to stab someone in the back before they'd do it to me - I'd do it. I'd be like Scott Hall - minus the whole dope/booze addiction...I'd hope. Guest bravesfan Report post Posted January 6, 2003 It would be much better, if we listed the priorities in order... 1. Money -- of course this is #1. Adam Bomb summed it up nicely... 2. Taking care of opponents in-ring -- very obvious one also... 3. Entertaining the crowd -- even if you not being pushed, ala Tommy Dreamer, you put on a show for the crowd and they'll love you for it. 4. "My push" -- unless it horribly affected your amount of income, being unhappy about NOT being pushed is trivial...
Mrnoitaull 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2003 My biggest concern would be not to botch a single spot -and- pulling off the nastiest bumps everytime!!!!!!!!
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Actually, my main goal would be to finish every conversation I would have with a McMahon saying "You know what? You're full of shit".
Guest DawnBTVS Report post Posted January 7, 2003 #1 Money #2 Protecting my opponents(I'd take pride in not hurting anybody too ala Bret Hart) #3 Entertaining the crowd through great matches...and taking big bumps cause I enjoy shit like that #4 Input on my push, try and help push other wrestlers(Like Jericho likes to do with the young guys)
Guest BobbyWhioux Report post Posted January 7, 2003 I'd probably care most about the art of my in-ring persona, and/or staying true to my character. This is also why I would very likely not last long. I would very quickly get frustrated over lack of personal control/input into what I would be doing and saying around the ring. I mean, if I were portraying a "technical wrestler" I'd be miffed about being told to go out there and punch kick for three minutes and then job. Jobbing itself probably wouldn't bother me too much, because I think I'd be more suited to being some wacky over the top jobber to the stars in the manner of how I personally remember, for example, Repo Man. And I'd quit before long because, hey, I likely wouldn't be making very much money. [i mean, any character I came up with would certainly amuse me but most likely wouldn't catch on with most fans.] So I wouldn't have money or fame, most likely, trying to seduce me into staying and betraying my artistic/creative integrity. I wouldn't make a very good politician, either, knowing my temperment.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Yes, money is far and away priority #1. However, I'd be interested in putting on exciting matches. I'd also insist of having a gimmick of some type, because that's what sells merch which puts money in their pocket which makes you more important. I wouldn't mind jobbing to people, because as long as I'm not jobbed out into unimportance, I'm both a draw and a valued asset for not arguing over a job. Finally, I wouldn't care about politics that much really. As long as I did what I was told (jobbing), made money, and had good matches you're pretty much untouchable, even by The New You-Know-Who. I guess this means I'd be The Rock, except he's lost so much of his gimmick and become a bland babyface... Augh..
Guest jester Report post Posted January 7, 2003 I think I'd want to be as good at my job as I could possibly be. Be the most entertaining wrestler that I could. I'd be at work on my character constantly. Or as much as I was allowed. That being said, I have never worked well in jobs with lots of politics. I don't think I'd fit in well there. Or I'd be in a tag team with the local indy jobber on Heat for my entire career.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Well, if I would get more money wrestling in the indies instead of jobbing to people in the WWE everyweek, I'd probably do the indies. But if I get a win once and a while and I still get some type of reaction from the crowd, I'd still wrestle for McMahon.
Guest Funaki Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Wearing a Gold suit and playing mind games would be my number one priority.
Guest Brian Report post Posted January 7, 2003 If I go into wrestling for a living, money would be of little concern to me in the first place. I'd be more interested in doing the best at what I love to do; wrestle and build intriguing feuds.
Guest subliminal_animal Report post Posted January 7, 2003 As Brian kind of touched upon, anyone whose top concern is money probably shouldn't be a wrestler. #4 Input on my push, try and help push other wrestlers(Like Jericho likes to do with the young guys) What young guys does Jericho help out? My list - #1 (tie) - Not hurting my opponents / Being the most entertaining worker I can be. #2 - Having majority control over my character. Not whether he wins or loses, but his interviews, ideas for feuds and angles, etc. #3 - Helping others out with their interviews and ring mannerisms or helping to come up with gimmicks and ring names and such for them. If I'm good at that stuff, that is (I think I would be). #4 - Not rubbing most people the wrong way (there's always the odd asshole).
Guest Brian Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Read the eddy shoot. Guys like him, Benoit, and Liger work for the match. Those are the kind of guys I'd look up to as a worker.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted January 7, 2003 As Brian kind of touched upon, anyone whose top concern is money probably shouldn't be a wrestler. Sorry, if anyone is going into a job for anything, money is going to be top concern. You can try and be as moralistic as you want, but go ask anyone from the top of the card to the jobbers and ask them if they don't care about the money. Guest Brian Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Everyone cares about money, but in a business like wrestling, it's not top concern for a lot of people, Look at Guerrero. Benoit. Mysterio. Most indy workers, like Styles who works another job, or Daniels who's been working indies for ten years. How do you explain that? You have to love wrestling and performing. Guest notJames Report post Posted January 7, 2003 My number one priority would be to connive, manipulate, and backstab my way to a program with HHH... then shoot on his ass on live TV. Then I'd go live at the Wrestling Blackball Commune with Maxx Payne, Dr. D and Shawn Stasiak.
Guest Rob Edwards Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Styles? He turned down a WWE development deal for financial reasons if I remember rightly

Guest Super Pissed Smark Report post Posted January 7, 2003 If I were a wrestler the thing I would care most about is getting into Stephanie's pants as quickly as possible. Then everything else would take care of itself.
EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2003 I know that if I wrestled, it would be because I want to. What would I do it for besides myself? I'd do it for the respect of my peers and my fans. I'd do everything I could to make people happy, but I wouldn't sell myself short because somebody else wants to look better than me.
Guest Rob Edwards Report post Posted January 7, 2003 He turned it down because he had a job and family that he would have had to move. Well that's a financial concern then, I believe his wife is well paid but he's till putting money first
Guest Brian Report post Posted January 7, 2003 No, he's working with costs. Costs versus finances.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted January 7, 2003 My main focus would be to make sure the matches are good and the fans enjoy it. Then money.
Guest Rob Edwards Report post Posted January 7, 2003 No, he's working with costs. Costs versus finances. Yes I agree but whatever sums he's doing it all boils down to money or putting things before wrestling, I'm not blaming him for it or anything because as stated above I'd be exactly the same, you go where the money is in whatever job you do
Guest Insanityman Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I'd like to say put pride into my work. But in the back of my head the win-loss record would be nagging me. But, however, I'd try to pull five star matches if I could.
