He was cool in WCW when he had the Raven's Rules matches and when he feuded with Benoit and he was mildly entertaining when he was the hardcore champion but lately he's been nothing in and out of the ring. I do admit the quality of his matches has gone recently. I'm guessing its due to lack of motivation more than anything else. The difference between him the hosses however, is that while Raven has the possibilty of putting on decent matches, people like Albert or Bradshaw can't put on good matches period. Guest Passenger Report post Posted January 22, 2003 He was given a lot of TV time at the beginning of 2001 with his hardcore title reign and during the invasion he got more TV time then a lot of alliance members did. All I can recall him doing during the Invasion was getting sprayed with milk, getting chewed out by SCSA on a regular basis for basically being shit (wow there's a way to get someone over) and singing 'wind beneath our ring'. Can't believe he didn't get over after that exposure. I have all Ravens promos/matches from his WWF debut till the end of the Invasion on tape. I recently watched the Invasion period, and apart from a massive squash by Kurt Angle and a loss to Tajiri on Raw he was on heat teaming with Justin Credible nearly every week, losing more often than not as well. The only good thing that happened to him during the Invasion was (funnily enough) his win over Regal on PPV (his ONLY ppv win in the WWE). That was his only win on a show other than Heat during the whole Invasion angle if i'm not mistaken. Anyone who says Raven got a fair chance to get over is sorely mistaken. And why not have him in a wrestler/manager capacity with anyone? Kane, batista, Sean O Haire... I really think he could have gone places with test as well, odd as that sounds. Just have him 'break' stacy's fingers like he did to dreamer and that jobber on heat, and you might get test over as a face...but that's just me and my stupid fantasy booking again. Next, Test will go to Smackdown and defeat the entire cruiser division! YAY FOR ULTRA-SUPER-TEST! Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted January 22, 2003 Hey bob, if Raven is so bad how come he's partially(sp) responsible for putting ECW on the map with his feud with Dreamer, and he was getting huge pops in WCW when he wasnt being pushed, atleast not properly, while the ME guys were causing WCW to die slowly. I never watched ECW but you can't say a guy is still good cause of something he did 8 years ago. In WCW he had big feuds against Benoit and DDP- had his own stable revolving around him and I think was always at least in the midcard or upper midcard. The whole masterpiece thing was the most nonfucked up storyline they had going. Damn the WWE for screwing up THAT story. I mean, honestly, how hard could it be to do the '7 deadly sins'? I'm sure there are some indy workers out there with decent acting skills to appear in one of those kinds of segments. Hell, WWE wouldn't even have to pay them much. Of course, we all know the writing team isn't smart to think of a FINISH to the angle... Hmm.... I just thought of something. Perhaps they were thinking of putting him in a manager/wrestler type of role with Stevie? No, NOT THE FLOCK, that's NOT what I'm thinking of. The storyline wasn't even mentioned in many weeks of it's duration even though Raven had matches. And when it was mentioned, rarely was anything noteworthy ever discussed. Raven's promos during that period of time were more pointless than HHH's. If the key to successful, non-fucked up angles is to mention them periodically, and being very vague when doing so, then I apologize. "The Masterpiece," for most of the course of it's existence, had nothing going for it. Bookers didn't care about the angle, and as a result, neither did the audience. I actually think that's the thing about Raven - he's one of those wrestlers that, for whatever reason, has tons of people who love him, and because all reasons I love him notwithstanding he's only perhaps a slightly above average wrestler there's just as many people who inexplicably hate him. I mean who else but Raven could provoke bob to post for pages and pages about how much he hates him everytime his name is brought up? Maybe he can cut a bitter shoot promo on the WWE filled with lots of dark meanings! And then he can run in on a jobber match and people can go crazy that he's reforming the flock!
