Guest GameCop Report post Posted January 26, 2003 1wrestling.com is reporting that during an interview, Rock revealed that he will be done with WWE after Wrestlemania. My question is -- who else is gonna put Benoit, Eddy, RVD, Jericho, and Edge over? Triple H?

Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2003 I'm just waiting for the day when Helldorado bombs and the Rock comes crawling back to WWE.
Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Helldorado - Rock and, to quote JR, "the guy who played Stiffler in American Pie!" Â should be a winner...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Benoit, Eddy, RVD, Jericho, and Edge  Edge is the only one on that list that would benifit from Rock putting them over.  Benoit, Eddy, RVD and Jericho are already over plenty and don't need Rock's "rub". Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted January 26, 2003 I loved that Rock "Driven" special on VH1...the people talk about what passion and desire he has to be in the business...Bah! Â I'm not knocking the guy for taking the injury free Hollywood route...but he owes the fans a proper sendoff if he is bailing.
Guest Gathering Moss Report post Posted January 26, 2003 I'm just waiting for the day when Helldorado bombs and the Rock comes crawling back to WWE. Like that will ever happen. Guest Army Eye Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Rock is no movie star. He'll find that out soon enough , but he's really jumping the gun if this story is true.
Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Rock is a movie star, whether you want to admit it or not. He has good looks, charisma, and he isn't that bad of an actor. He has 5 more movies lined up after Helldorado. He won't be needing any work in Hollywood for awhile.

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 26, 2003 I don't understand where people get this idea that Rock's not a "movie star" from. Â What about Rock doesn't scream "Movie star"? Rock has EVERYTHING Hollywood looks for in an action star. Â Well i suppose these people could be talking about Rock not being an "acting star" which would be true. However that doesn't matter because he's wanted for action movies.
Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted January 26, 2003 You know...if this is true... Â this sucks... Â Not because I am a huge fan of The Rock or anything, it's just that it seems everybody that made wrestling "cool" to the world is just jumping ship...even if one is supposedly crawling back in to try and save the sinking ship... Â I know the WWE is doing poorly but at least most of the guys are most likely going to stick around to the end...or until the next boom period comes...if that's ever... Â It just seems like the line between Hoss Main Eventer and Cruiser Midcarder and further being drawn. Rocky wasn't a hoss, but he was damn sure a main eventer...but now...the ranks of the main event scene (at least on RAW) are nothing but hosses, and besides The Smackdown Six, everything in the Uppercard and ME slots are Hoss-erific. Â I think that Vince should take more notice in exactly who the crowd is really cheering for...and not who the production team is making it sound like we cheer for. That's how Rock and Steve Austin got into the main event and that is how they stayed there...but they are some of the last non-hosses to do that. Â Geez Rock...give us a freaking break~! Didn't you have that big speech last year about leaving the company...and you said that if you don't want to stay in for the long haul you might as well "Get The F Out"... Â well Rock... Â I guess it's time for you to get the F out... Â Have A Nice Day...

Well i suppose these people could be talking about Rock not being an "acting star" which would be true.  Meteor, apparently 1popups is reporting this now. I'm assuming they have actual information, and are not basing it off of those fake ass pictures. Though that would be funny.
Guest geniusMoment Report post Posted January 26, 2003 If this was true don't you think Meltzer or Keller or even Scherer would have at least heard rumors of this.
Guest Texas Small Arms 09 Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Really? What 5? I was watching ET and MGM, Paramount, Warner Brothers, Universal, and Sony are all wanting him to do movies. Waner Bros. is looking at make a Johnny Bravo movie, Sony would like to do a movie King Kamya Kamya where Rocky would play a Hawiian king, and MGM wants Walking Tall. Guest mickberna Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Rock isn't a movie star because his entire fanbase consists of WWE fans. Movie stars generally work for years doing shit movies until the public discovers them. Rock got thrust into the limelight, and once the fans bail on him out of principle, he's doomed. Â Hey, Hogan and Piper had a whole bunch of movies... would you consider them movie stars?
Guest Rob Van Dam Report post Posted January 26, 2003 the four movies he has lined up after helldorado are: Â Scorpion King 2 comedy remake of the movie Witness movie about the king of hawaii spy hunter
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Rock's wrestling fans don't make or break his movies. Rock is the type of guy Hollywood can sell to the general public. Hollywood loves guys with a good look and charisma and if you think they can't sell him to anyone outside of wrestling fans you're insane. Â Rock is totally different than Piper or Hogan. Hogan doesn't have a look that Hollywood could give a serious push. Piper never tried to become a movie star so it's pointless to include him in this. Â Would Rock be in Hollywood if not for wrestling? No of course not. Does Rock need wrestling now that he's inside the Hollywood machine? NO and in fact Rock would do better in Hollywood if he walked away from wrestling.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 26, 2003 I am not buying the validity of this report considering source Material but If he is done, then well that is sad. Â Do I hate him for this? No, He did what is totally logical, Unlike Hulk Hogan, He doesn't need Vince McMahon anymore. Â Yes, Rock would never been famous if it wasn't for WWE. However, that is in the past. Â He IS what Hollywood loves, Good Looking, Charismatic, Funny, Well spoken, Intelligent, Buff and has a preexisting fanbase. He shouldn't have a problem sliding into his Van Damme 2000 role in Society.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Whether or not he stops wrestling full time, I bet he still remains on the WWE payroll. The name "The Rock" is too valuable for him to lose. And on the flip side of the equation, with Vince's ego being what it is, I bet he feels paying Rock's downside guarantee is worth it to get his name on an executive producer credit in major motion pictures (not to mention he can still market Rock merchandise, and maybe get some PPVs buys too). Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 26, 2003 How would that increase Buys if just still owns his name but doesn't have Rock performing?
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted January 26, 2003 So, if he's not willing to give back, why are they going through the effort of getting Goldberg for this guy? Â Especially if he quits after WM, and they have Goldie through Backlash? Oh well, his loss would be someone else's gain. Because of WCW politics, GB probably won't lie down for Benoit, but how about Kurt Angle? He'll need heat after WM anyway.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted January 26, 2003 How would that increase Buys if just still owns his name but doesn't have Rock performing? I mean if he decides to work Wrestlemania and another PPV each year or something.
