One of my favorite beatdowns is nWo just destroying Ric/David Flair after the tag match at Souled Out 1999....it ends really dissapointing because no babyface makes the save, but the crowd was red hot for at least SOMEONE running down and ending the carnage.

Lemme also nominate another...

The Sandman's Crucifixion. So controversial even ECW wouldn't air it.

It made no sense whatsoever.

It can be possibly regarded as the catalyst for the tailspin of the WWE in 2001 to the lowly position its in now.

It involved two egomaniacs cementing their positions of dominance over the rest of the roster.

But fuck me, the post-Wrestlemania X-7 Raw when Triple H swerved and hit Rock with the sledgehammer, and the ensuing Austin-Triple H destruction of the Rock, was cool as fucking hell. When Austin, Triple H and Vince all posed in the cage at the end I was marking out like a nutter. I actually really enjoyed the Power Trip, it was the Taker-Kane involvement that really sucked. Still, within a two-month period, we got some quality Power Trip beatdowns of the Rock, JR, Lita and the Hardyz and the Brothers of Arse. The Hardyz beatdown with steel chairs was particularly satisfying.

For me it was on an episode of Superstars leading up to SummerSlam 91, when The Mountie, Nasty Boys, and Jimmy Hart laid the smack down on Big Bossman. And they handcuffed him and The Mountie used his taser on him. Eventually, some refs came out and broke it up.

Hmmm...how about Larry Zybsyko crunching Windham's hand in the door in 1991?

Or Sting getting his ass WHOOPED after challenging Flair...the dumbass.

Dusty getting whooped is always fun.

Snake/Macho, what about Macho getting his ass whooped at SS 92 after the tag match by Flair and Ramon? I remember that being good.

Jack...Funk...ECW arena...250 chairs...I rest my case.

Austin's beatdown on Bret on 4.21 is absolutely insane and should be required viewing for Feud Building 101.

Vader whoopin up on Gorilla is still in my head. Almost the same as Yoko doing the same to Crush. Crush's ass-whoopin on Savage. What about that? That was RIGHTEOUS.

Almost any nWo beatdown, cuz it kept them on top.

Heel austin was god. Murdering lita with a chair makes you A-OK in the book of saturn. And I really enjoyed him squashing spike on smackdown and using the walls and the crossface too. Even better because people actually gave a crap when spike stood up to him in the back too.

Being the old school WWF mark I am, I thought of a few...

- Hulk Hogan getting the holy crap beat out of him by John Studd and King Kong Bundy on SNME in 1986 to build to WM2.

- Paul Orndorff turning on Hogan and joining Studd and Bundy in laying Hogan out after their big tag match in 1986.

- Savage putting Steamboat out of commission with the ring bell at the end of 1986.

- Outlaw Ron Bass jumping Brutus Beefcake and raking his face with his spurs in mid-1988, leading to Beefcake losing his IC title shot and Ultimate Warrior subbing for him at Summerslam 88. First appearance of the Big Red X.

Some have referenced the Horsemen/Dusty beatdown in the parking lot but the one I liked better was the one in the ring.

Flair was getting beaten down by the Russians in a cage and he gets saved by none other than Dusty Rhodes. How does he get repaid? The Horsemen come in and break his leg. Dusty's friends try to get in the cage but the Horsemen keep them out as the beating continues.

You might remember it, but I don't. Can you refresh my memory please?

I *think* it was after a tag match between the Hardyz and the Power Trip (I didn't see it live, so I may be wrong). Austin and HHH were beating down the Hardyz, Lita tried to stop the beating by covering up Matt, and Austin just pounded the shit outta her with a steel chair. HHH may have given her the pedigree too.

How about Ric Flair turning against Sting to reform the Horsemen with Pillman and Arn at Havoc 95?

Outside of the Yeti thing, I marked for the Dungeon beatdown. What the hell was he doing anyway?

IDK if you can call it a beatdown, but the hype with the Roberts/Warrior match where Warrior is force to go in a snake pit and he gets attacked by many a snake always gets me.

My all time favorite beatdowns are

1: Horsemen parking lot ass kicking of Dusty.

2: Horsemen beat down of Rock N Roll Express after Ricky Morton gets a fluke win over Flair.

3: Midnight Express beat down of Dusty and Babydoll.

4: I don't know who was the heel but Hart Foundation/Austin/HBK beatdowns on RAW.

Some of my favs are:

The nWo beatdown of the WCW locker room, where Rey is hurled like a javeline.

Lex Luger turning heel and breaking Ricky Steamboat's neck, circa summer of 88.

The Horsemen beating the holy immortal fuck out of Dusty.

The Horsemen turning on Sting, while he was a member. Circa 89-90.

Most of the Savage-DDP beatdowns/brawls circa 97.

Austin beating the shit out of Bret, all the way to the ambulance.

And I remember the Power Trip slaughtering Lita. Great stuff.

Think Austin/Rock Wrestlemania 17, except Lita = Rock. Also, that was on Raw in Boston in April of 2001. And yeah, Lita got the pedigree and I remember the Hardys getting fucking SICK chairshots from Austin too. Austin was on fire when it came to be pyscho after Mania 17.

actually it was a six person tag match with the hardys and lita vs power trip and stephanie. lita pinned steph to win the match and austin/hh proceed to whip the hardys. lita falls on top of matt to save him, but then austin just levels her with a chair pretty sick moment, then he gave her a stunner i think.

the nwo in disney was kick-ass. nash picking up rey and throwing him into the trailer scared the hell out of me. then rey saying to eddy guererro there was 4 guys (hinting at a new member, who turned out to be the giant i belive)

By the way, that match is on the Lita DVD. I don't know if the post-match beatdown is on there as well, though.

My favourite beatdown was the Syracuse Massacre where HBK got his ass handed to him by those Marines in the parking lot.

I wonder if Vince can sign them next…

;)

Seriously, mine would be Austin's beatdown of Michael Cole. Very stiff looking and brutal. I almost felt sorry for Cole.

Almost.

Oh, Austin's beatdown of Cole was great. It lasted for about 10 minutes, with Austin just brutalizing him with this psychotic look in his eye. Afterward, Cole's shirt is ripped off, he looks half dead, and is being carried away with his arms falling at his sides. I'm like, "Bah Gawd, Michael Cole has died for our sins!" They should have given him a crown of thorns.

Bossman's beatdown's on Austin before, and during the Survivor Series in '98. They were just funny for some reason.

Also, Test's various beatdowns on the Posse.

Sting coming to Team WCW and Team Piper's rescue at UnCensored 1997 is my all time favorite beatdown. The crowd went crazy and I was marking out seeing Sting finally pulverize the nWo.

I loved all of Sting's beatdowns on the nWo back in 1997. That was the thing I looked forward to most during Nitro and I could tell I was not alone in that.

Austin driving the zamboni into the arena and beating down on Vince while the crowd went apeshit is funny as is Austin beating down on Vince while he was in the hospital. Even my mother who doesn't watch wrestling loved it.

And the Anti-WCW midcarders beating down on Palumbo and O'Haire. That gave me hope that the InVasion would work. How wrong I was.
