Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 13, 2003 According to the Torch, Angle's neck is so bad that he may never wrestle again after Wrestlemania. He's currently expected to get two vertebrae fused so he can make a comeback in a year. The problem comes from the fact that his neck is so screwed that he will eventually need to have more fused, ending his career. They don't know if this will be required in 10 months or 10 years. This is a sad day for the WWE on so many levels that I can't believe it.

Guest Brian Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Both Dreamer and austin went for a long time with similar injury.
Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Yes it is, but I don't think the WWE would stoop low enough to tease a possible Angle retirement just to work the "smarts."

Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted March 13, 2003 *Sigh* I guess this is why Kurt decided to do Mania then. Better to retire after a Mania than after a regular show... I really, really hope that this is exaggerated, though.

Guest Steviekick Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Damn. I hope this is not so. Thanks for the memories, Kurt. I can't think of anyone who accomplished as much as he did in ONLY 4 years of being in the WWE. Truly a legend and an American hero.

Guest EternallyLazy Report post Posted March 13, 2003 If this is truly going to be Angle's last Mania... then it's probably going to be my last to watch as well. I've followed wrestling for almost 13 years now, and lately I've been growing very uninterested... Kurt Angle has been basically the sole reason I've continued to watch. His wrestling, character, and background have been a breath of fresh air... and without him, I don't see myself wanting to follow the product anymore. I guess the only thing that could convince me to stay a fan, would be the title win of Chris Benoit, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon
Guest geniusMoment Report post Posted March 13, 2003 NO Dreamer and Austin didn't, Dreamer had two hernaited discs in his back that could have been healed through rehab and Austin only needed on vertebrae fused to another. Once you have more than two vertebrae fused in your neck you have very limited mobility. If Angle came back not only could he never take a back bump where he landed on his shoulders or neck, he would also have the mobility of say Hulk Hogan. Its not the same thing HBK had done either. Once you have this type of surgery you are done for good one way or another.

Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted March 13, 2003 *Plays the song "The End" by The Doors* Kurt Angle, other than Austin, has been my favorite superstar of the past three years. What a career. We'll never get to see him get that huge face push that eventually gets him to be the next franchise. The only question I have is, what if this is a ploy for Angle to go to the Olympics in 04? He won two gold medals with a sprained neck.
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Its not a ploy. I'm almost sure of that. Neck injuries are bad...theres always a chance the person will not come back. So sad.... niko
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted March 13, 2003 If Kurt has to retire, then good luck to whatever he decides to do in the future. I think the match at Mania is a horrible idea. The match will probably suck, now. Of course the bigger picture is that Kurt could be seriously injured, and it also puts alot of pressure on a lot of people. That being said, I have heard alot of stories such as this one before. Ric Flair had a broken back that he would never come back from in th 70s. I heard Vader and Steiner had injuries so severe that they would never wrestle again. Ditto Funk, Hennig, Dreamer, Sandman, Austin. Plus, this comes from the Torch. Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted March 13, 2003 God I hope this is wrong. For some reason I wanna take my anger out on Vince McMahon for making these guys work as much as they do. But yet, let the Hosses and other "Big" names take it easy and rest.
Guest Luke Cage Report post Posted March 13, 2003 I hope Angle is able to live a happy and healthy life after all of this. I further hope that the WWF will tone down the sick stunts. They have the ability to educate the viewing audience to a less risky style of action. Maybe they could give it a try.
Guest Banky Report post Posted March 13, 2003 I think he is just wrestling this match IN CASE something else is detected during surgery. I'm sure he hasn't made up his mind already. Besides, look at Michaels. He came back after 5 years. If I had to put money on it, I'd say Angle will be back.
Guest candie45 Report post Posted March 13, 2003 No no no.. please don't be true... dammit! Kurt... thanks for everything. I hope you can come through. This just keeps getting worse...
Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted March 13, 2003 This should have been HHH instead of Angle.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted March 13, 2003 If the first 4 years of his WWE career were anything to go by, then Kurt will go balls out to make this his best match ever. He won't quite get there, but now I can't see this match going any lower than *** 1/2 Good luck Kurt.
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Why wish a serious neck injury on a person you have never met? because you hear he is a bad guy from the internet? Personally, I hope HHH stays injury free, if only so he gets exposed as the crappy wrestler that he is.
