Guest AndrewTS Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 That's why the best selling of it have always been when the receiver dives pretty much head-first. Makes the move look both more brutal than it SHOULD be, and a little more realistic. Yeah. It also works fine when Edge would start it out like a DDT in his variation of the Edgecution (in SYM).
Guest The Hamburglar Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Quick note on the Angle Slam. Watch Bobby Eaton do it and see how when done properly, if is a legit move. Tim Blasphemy. Well, not blasphemy, but for me, I don't give a shit how effective the Angle Slam looks, it just tends to look cool. And Angle does perform it at a really cool high angle sometimes. I am a long-time defender of the Angle Slam, and it kind of irks me when its treated like a secondary move. Actually, they need to develop the Anglesault as another finisher for him, and possibly give him another impact finish as well. Angle's already gone the right finish route by doing a few unconventional finishes in the last year (heel hook, the amateur uber-pin on Cena, the awesome turnbuckle ultra-suplex roll-up to Rey). Angle, Eddie, Benoit and Lesnar should all be put in the position where the crowd knows damn well that anything they do could be the big finish.
Guest Jim Ross Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Somebody will probably do this with ease but explain the mechanics of running the ropes. When you Irish Whip some one you fling him/her with so much strength and momentum that you can actually make your opponent run against his/her will. They are as helpless as toys with wheels on them that are given a big shove. Well if they were being thrown with so much strength and momentum.. wouldnt they just run face first into the ropes? Rather than spinning around, putting their arm up, and then running back? Speaking of Ropes, and thankfully we dont see this anymore, what about the one where the Heel would be standing on the apron and holding the top rope.. the face inside the ring would then jerk the rope and the heel would get flipped over the top rope and into the ring... 'brought in the hard way'. or the classic where about two or three guys are outside of the ring.. and there happens to be an agile guy on the inside.. "Hey lets all get up and group together while the guy in the ring does a plancha or something" Honourable mention goes to the time a groupd of guys outside the ring all got up and grouped together teasing a moment where the big show was going to jump off the top rope to the outside.
Guest dt5 Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 It wasn't called the 619, it was just a trademark fake out. Hence its original name, the Tiger Feign. I have seen Black Tiger 3 use this move for offense before Rey Mysterio Jr did it in WWE, so is he responsible for its orgin? No. I have seen that move used in Mexico by a number of wrestlers (Super Astro, Oro specifically) way before Black Tiger 3. Tiger Mask used the move in Japan in the early 80s, hence the name.
Guest hosserific Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 finishers need to be sudden, like the stunner, so the crowd goes crazy. when shawn winds up for the kick, it totally blows the crowd for the move, cuz they know its coming. if the WWE didnt use the german suplex so much, i think that would be great for angles finisher. on an unrelated note, why the hell does the WWE have the heels enter first. especially in terms of jericho, his countdown isnt abrupt or anything, then everybody knows michaels is comin out. the WWE needs to concentrate on getting the crowds back into it. the mania crowd was almost as dead as the crows when jazz comes out. its the little things that you dont realize that make wrestling great C'MON vince!!
Guest hosserific Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 notice how the new F5 looks now compared to back in his debut. he spins the guy around, and then he basically lifts them straight up in the air, as opposed to the old one where he flung the guy around like a rag doll. he might have changed it because guys couldnt land it right. but they cant land it now either.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Hmmm, the schoolboy. That time on SD a few weeks back when Eric subbed for Kurt, how in HELL didd Kurt beat big strong Lesnar by putting his arm between his legs and pushing his stomach? Does he have an Achilles tummy?
Guest AndrewTS Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 THE MOVE THAT I DON'T QUITE GET WHY IS SO EFFECTIVE.... The low blow. In wrestling it is the Spirit Bomb of moves that can be used to take almost anyone down. Why? Seriously. I've been kicked in the nuts before, and I know it hurts like hell. And most low blows are actually short-range punches which shouldn't hurt a whole lot in comparison. Plus, if you're in a fight or a match, anger, adrenaline, and willpower could just completely shut it out. I don't think you would be forced to just let yourself be pinned, or BEND OVER TO BE SET RIGHT UP FOR A FINISHING MOVE. Stunning a guy with it and then hitting a finish is at least understandable, rather than some one getting pinned after a low blow and a roll up.
LooseCannon25 Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Talking about fake moves...........If a guy heres 20,000 people cueing the band for sweet chin music wouldnt he just roll out of the ring or something. Van Daminator.,......wouldnt an opponent realize that they should NOT catch the freakin chair when RVD throws it at him Trish's Stratusfaction........perhaps one of the worst finishing moves ever right after Hogan's Legdrop......whats the difference between this and a regular legdrop...the guy barely gets any air on it whatsoever.
Guest AndrewTS Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Hogan's Legdrop......whats the difference between this and a regular legdrop...the guy barely gets any air on it whatsoever. Uh...Hogan is really big? Never understood it myself, either.
Guest TonyJaymzV1 Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Van Daminator.,......wouldnt an opponent realize that they should NOT catch the freakin chair when RVD throws it at him The logic behind that is its instinct to cacth the chair, otherwise you knocked in the noggin. Now the Van Terminator is contrived....
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Yeah...that's one of the laws of human reflexes. If something is thrown at you...you catch it.
Guest AndrewisyourHero Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 ..And then get kicked in the head..

Another thing too, wouldn't wrestler be smart enough to wear a cup by now?
Guest AndrewTS Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 The Taker ropewalk? Sure, I could see being stunned and surprised the first time you saw it, but when he's done it for about 14 years...
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Nah.....the kicking in the head only happens if there's this stoned dude standing in front of you.....
Guest Goodear Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Why the hell does Chris Benoit keep ramming his head into the chests of his opponents while his neck is a freaking mess?
Guest evilhomer Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Nah.....the kicking in the head only happens if there's this stoned dude standing in front of you..... Mental note: next time you're with Cheech, don't catch chair if he throws it at you
Guest Breetai Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 The Taker ropewalk? Sure, I could see being stunned and surprised the first time you saw it, but when he's done it for about 14 years... Bah, that's nothing. Shinzaki does a ropewalk that travels almost halfway around the ring. (About 1 1/2 rope lengths.) What I never got; when you've got your opponent in position for a scoop slam, why don't you just Tombstone them instead? Surely that would be more effective! Also, why can Flair work out which leg his FUCKING FINISHER works on??!?!?!
