However, I could see where disastisfaction with his position in life and his job (that of a wrestler) was leading him to be disgruntled at the time and possibly express his rage and emotion in a unsatisfactory way. It does not make what he did any better nor do I condone it, nor do I feel that the WWF or his merely being a wrestler can be blamed for the incident.

Guest Ace309 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 1. 20 2. a) 2-4 hours 3. a) Yes (though let me express my distaste with this question, since I had a twin brother and we were going to fight no matter what; I'm concerned that you're going to be drawing inappropriate lines between violence between siblings and watching pro wrestling, despite the fact that, for example, my brother and I fought mostly when we were much younger. Little kids fight, and I've seen no scholarly material that considers five-year-olds fighting on the same scale as an adult male battering an adult female, but in the interest of honesty I'll answer this way.) 4. Both. It was a two-way street. 5. b) I have had a few experiences with domestic violence 6. In 1-2 sentences, briefly describe your thoughts on pro wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin (Steve Williams) being arrested and put on 1 year’s probation for assaulting his wife Debra Williams: - I'm fully in support of that punishment if and only if it's as severe a punishment as any other perpetrator of domestic violence of the same magnitude would receive. As a side note, some of the questions weren't anywhere near exhaustive in option (for example, number 19... I would have liked a 'somewhat offended' answer, and I certainly hope that your study doesn't equate actual violence against women - say, Jericho repeatedly antagonizing Stacy - with the women's matches proper), and the questionnaire seemed a bit slanted.

Guest Breetai Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Far be it for me to comment, but your research project is way too barefaced to yeild significant results. Not to mention the fact that the results are open for other people to observe, thereby bringing in the whole problem of altering one's own answers due to social desirability, plus the fact that it's no use asking questions like "How do you feel about participating in violence after watching professional wrestling?", because data of this nature is best collected through obsevation. Your higly introspective approach is damaging to the credibility of ANY data you collect. Are you perchance doing this for a Psychology Honours or undergraduate thesis? Because if you are, you've shown a complete disregard for essentials such as the need for a noterised consent form and a mandatory background information sheet, and if I were your supervisor I'd fail you immediately and make sure you get barred from practicing postgraduate psychology for the rest of your life.
