Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 7, 2003 Once again if San Antonio would be decent with their FTs, they wouldn't even have to be good, the would've won. That's why I think the Nets will take the series.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 7, 2003 The Spurs didn't deserve to win tonights game. 20 turnovers, 14-25 FT, including 3-10 from Duncan. Hopefully we get both teams A games Sunday.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted June 7, 2003 This is going at least 6 games. The next 3 games are in Jersey, but there is no way they are taking 3 in a row, even at home. I am still sticking with my prediction=Spurs in 6.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted June 7, 2003 Turnovers and free-throws once again cost the Spurs. Like Vern said, they didn't deserve to win this game. Jackson's three at the end might be questionable to some, but he had a good look -- although he probably rushed it a little sooner than he should of. With that said, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Spurs win the next three games (they're taking two; IIRC the best road team in the NBA), as they seem to get a wakeup call after they lose. Especially when they have so many turnovers and missed free-throws.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 7, 2003 The Spurs have played pretty well on the road in the playoffs so far. I believe all their blown leads have come at home.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted June 7, 2003 Well we's gots ourselves a series. I think that Mutombo is going to play a more vital role from now on. He gives them experience and a big strong bondy to defend against Robinson. I think that the Nets could win this series. I think it will go down to the wire. For once, I pray, we will actually have a good wire-to-wire series. Kidd is the best playter in the East, and Duncan is the best in the West. Sort of like the series of old where Bird would face Magic in the Finals. So we are on to New Jersey, with New Jersey looking like they got most of the rust off, while regaining their confidence back. Definately shaping up to be a great series, and proof why I love basketball so much. Go Kidd, representin tha Bay Area once again in the Finals.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted June 7, 2003 I didn't see the game so: What happened to Duncan? I know the Nets doubled him, but so has everyone else, and he's backed them off by finding his teammates for open shots. Did Dikembe make that much of a difference or did he just have a bad game?
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 7, 2003 Bad game. But what happened to Duncan's free throw shooting? It never used to be this bad. Mutombo earned minutes that's for sure. I have a feeling that the next game he'll play more like Robinson did in Game 2. The silver lining for the Spurs has got to be they only lost by 2. Duncan didn't have a great game, and the team has whole was very sloppy.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted June 7, 2003 Bad game. But what happened to Duncan's free throw shooting? It never used to be this bad. Anybody whose followed the Spurs for a while knows Duncan has never really been a good shooter at the line. Now more people are finding that out. The two things that have hurt the Spurs all season have been bad free throw shooting and turnovers. They're normally able to hand one of those things happening, but when both happen, that's when they lose.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 7, 2003 I think the Spurs were definitely overconfident coming into this game. They came out to such a feverish start and I think they just expected to win the game with ease. Moron Scott actually came to his senses and remembered why they traded for Mutombo in the off-season. Good job, Moron.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 7, 2003 Its all part of the Network & League Conspiracy to have the Spurs win the championship in San Antonio for David Robinson. This would give a "boring" series a backstory and make it worth remembering. You see New Jersey the "big market" city gets all three games played so they can milk it for all they can and game 6 will be played in San Antonio for the final, for Mr. Robinson. [/sarcasm]
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted June 7, 2003 Sorry, but Byron Scott's coaching has been pretty damn good thus far. It's just a matter of the Nets themselves taking care of business.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 8, 2003 I hate the LA Times. The NBA Playoffs is actually exciting for a change because the outcome is very much in doubt, yet it gets buried in the 7th page of the Times. A stupid, pointless story on Shaq is on page 1 and the paper harps over and over about the lack of interest on the finals. I know they are just sore after their team getting bounced but this is ridiculous.
Guest Spicy McHaggis Report post Posted June 8, 2003 When the Finals loses in ratings to its former network, that's generally considered a lack of interest.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 9, 2003 Joe Pisco makes a good announcer for the Nets. But he is no Michael Buffer.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 9, 2003 Well, this is shaping up to be a 75 - 70 game. And once again Byron Scott's substitutions have killed all of the Nets momentum.

Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted June 9, 2003 These guys are channelling the Knicks and Rockets from 1994 (appropriate, given where these two teams are from). This is FUGLY basketball.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 9, 2003 Jewel - kill me I agree the song is hard on the ears. Jewel should of continued with her new direction and dressed sexy i.e. half naked.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted June 9, 2003 GODDAMNIT. Will K-Mart PLEASE stop getting in foul trouble? He's been great against Duncan during the whole series, but that's his only downfall.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 9, 2003 Well he did just "Throw it down" for a big dunk.

Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 9, 2003 This might be the worse game in finals history.
Guest Bricks Report post Posted June 9, 2003 Throw it down Malik! Throw it down!
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 9, 2003 Malik had a big game doing the dirty work of getting the rebounds and "Throwing it Down", Manu made a very important steal in the 4th quarter to keep the lead, and of course Parker had a big game shooting 3 pointers.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 9, 2003 The Nets got killed when Duncan got the rebound after Parker missed two free throws with a minute and a half left. In a year or two Manu Ginobli will be an All-Star. Everytime I watch him play he impresses me. He can take it to the hole with the best in the league already, and he plays solid aggressive defense. Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted June 9, 2003 Has anyone scraped Dikembe Mutumbo's scarred and mutilated corpse off of the floor yet? Rose had him for lunch on that stuff. Fun game. Ugly as fuck, but fun anyways.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 9, 2003 The Spurs won because they got K-Mart and Collins in foul trouble and they let Jason Kidd shoot the ball at will. The problem with Manu is at times he wants to make those crazy passes to unsuspecting team mates who are double or triple teamed which results in turnovers. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 While the game was ugly as hell, it's the type of game the Spurs like: ugly and low scoring. Rose's dunk was awesome! I was expecting him to wave the index finger but he didn't. Still an awesome dunk.
