Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 14, 2003 Spurs should always play Steve Kerr in the 4th Quarter to keep the lead.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 14, 2003 Outside of game 3 against the Lakers, the Spurs could be 15-1 right now, but missed free-throws and turnovers cost them some games Its a Work Shoot
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted June 14, 2003 ahh, so many reasons to wish for a spurs championship... david going out on top. steve smith and kevin willis finally getting rings. good guys finish first. duncan is the best player in the league. but fuck all of that jazz... the new mantra for steve kerr= ONE FOR THE THUMB! Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 14, 2003 Well, the Nets blew this one. There is no real #1 scoring option on the Nets. Thorn needs to get a scorer in the offseason. Can anyone from NJ make a shot? Byron Scott needs to put Rodney Rogers at the end of the bench. If he's not taking stupid shots, he's whining about not getting fouled. Someone tell Tony Parker to stop taking those teardrop shots in the lane. I swear one out of every five goes in. Ginobli continues to impress (me at least). I know Duncan will win MVP, but Ginobli has been a real spark for them. I would love to see NJ pull this one out, but I figure there is no chance of them taking 2 in a row in the Spurs' house. Especially considering they couldn't take two in their own.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted June 14, 2003 Good luck next year, Nets.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted June 14, 2003 -- tony parker's teardrop in the lane was money all season long. it wasn't until this series that it hasn't been going in. -- ginobili gives the spurs some energy but is way too inconsistent and having bad shooting games to be considered a serious finals mvpcandidate. i must admit that his dunk tonight was right up there with the malik and rj dunks for the series. -- the nets do have scorers but the spurs are just shutting them down. martin was sick and the rest just missed their shots. what the nets need is a true center that can give them offense and defense. none of their three (mutumbo, williams, collins) can do both. Guest Flyboy Report post Posted June 14, 2003 I still stand by my point that Kidd > Duncan, and should have been MVP.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 14, 2003 I still stand by my point that Kidd > Duncan, and should have been MVP. That's a joke right? Steve Kerr should play more in the next game. Is there a chance that the Spurs will choke at home again and lose game 6?
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted June 14, 2003 I still stand by my point that Kidd > Duncan, and should have been MVP. prove it... give some stat breakdowns, comparisons, evidence, etc. what did kidd do this year to deserve the mvp? until you can actually back your stuff up, it's just gibberish. Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted June 14, 2003 oh but comparing stats of a center and a point guard makes perfect sense. - Ginobili KICKS ASS. How Stephen Jackson starts is beyone me. - er, Duncan is ok too. - When Kidd takes 20 shots, an angel falls from heaven. 2 or 3 if he's really off. - The Net's problem is a great point guard who doesn't have anyone to pass too who can score is just a good point guard. If Kidd played on Dallas or Sacremento he'd get like 15 assists a game. uh, that is all.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 14, 2003 Stephan Jackson can score but in streaks of either hot or cold. Manu is a good person to use off the bench because of his quickness and ability to get a steal out of nowhere. If you question why Jackson starts then why not question why Parker starts, Speedy Claxton is a better guard at scoring and gets steals while Parker just goes for the tear drop or outside shots. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 14, 2003 If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Their lethal combination of contributing bench and starting role players have brought them this far...
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 14, 2003 If it was me I would start Claxton Ginobli Rose Robinson Duncan
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted June 14, 2003 "oh but comparing stats of a center and a point guard makes perfect sense." it does if you are going to make the claim that one should be the mvp over the other. "Claxton Ginobli Rose Robinson Duncan" um no. bowen is nowhere to be found this series but he has been invaluable as a deadly outside threat and our best defensive threat not 7" tall. For most of the year, Jackson has been solid AND consistent. once again, his inconsistency began in this series. parker starts because he has been better than claxton all year long. he has two bad games but lets forget the three consecutive games of 20+ and 5 assists +? i don't think so. once tony gets a ring on his finger and one more year, the kid will be ice. EDIT-- also razatece.. it is ginobili not ginobli. just so you know.

Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 14, 2003 I was glad to hear Kobe Bryant had made up with his parents. It's nice to see a story have a happy ending.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 14, 2003 The Spurs should bypass Jason Kidd in the summer and look to add some more size to their lineup. Robinson, Willis, Ferry, Kerr and Steve Smith are all old and getting a shooter like Eric Piatkowski could fill in nicely for a guard with lots of range. They can also go after a big man like Jermaine O'neal, Elton Brand or the Kandiman. Looks like a very intersting summer is ahead. Hopefully, they won't choke in game 6. Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 14, 2003 Change the line up to give Bryon Scott headaches, build a lead then put the defense line up to sit on the lead.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted June 14, 2003 I've liked Speedy Claxton since he was in Philly. He's a good scorer and ballhandler. He really should be starting somewhere. Anyway, I really think the Spurs should go for a big guy instead of Kidd. If Kandi asks for the max, then fuck him. Brand or O'Neal if they can pull it off. I think Brand would be the best choice because O'neal would inevitably bitch about Duncan taking all the shots (which he should)
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted June 14, 2003 Ginoibili would of made more noise this year had he not gotten hurt during the World Championships. A lot of people probably forgot about this or don't even know, but eyebrows were raised by some Spurs fans when the Spurs held a press conference -- announcing the signing of Manu -- last year and gave him a #6 jersey. #6 was the number of former Spurs point guard Avery Johnson, who was (and still is) very popular with Spurs fans. As for going after Kidd ... I would of said yes a few months back, but now I say go after a big man. I once read a column on ESPN.com that said Kandi would take less money to play with Duncan. Whether he really would remains to be seen. And with the amount of money the Spurs have, they can get quite a few players without throwing money to one guy. IIRC, Speedy Claxton & Stephen Jackson are both free agents; Duncan can pick up his option for next year.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 14, 2003 It would be nice to keep Jackson and Claxton on the team but the Spurs needs a big man who can score more than anything. Avery Johnson was one of the local media's favorite players to interview when he was in San Antonio, he was never afraid to talk and his accent OWNS.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 14, 2003 There's talk that Moron Scott is getting a lot of criticism in Jersey and many are saying that his assistant eddie Jordan is the brains behind the scenes. The LA Times is reporting that the Lakers would make a run at Moron next season after Phillip leaves and his contract expires in Jersey.

The LA Times is reporting that the Lakers would make a run at Moron next season after Phillip leaves and his contract expires in Jersey. Scott is a Laker at heart. He'd love to me their next coach. As for Eddie Jordan being the brains behind everything. I don't buy it, this could of been leaked by the Nets to get Jordan some good publicity for the Philadelphia opening he's up for. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 15, 2003 Supposedly, the players don't like Scott who is very tightly wound. I'm not sold on Eddie Jordan as well. I think the real reason for the Nets success is Rod Thorn, their president for putting this team together. They can do without Scott.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 15, 2003 Tightly wound usually means yells on occasion. It wouldn't be suprising if NBA players complained if the coach yelled at them. I think alot of people deserve credit for the Nets recent success. Rod Thorne, who put the team together, Jason Kidd who is the team leader on offense and defense, Byron Scott who has done a good job getting all the pieces to fit together, and the Nets have been healthy the last 2 years. That's something they weren't previously years.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted June 16, 2003 i remember when the lineup consisted of kittles, marbury, gill, van horn and jason williams. SI ran an article that the lineup would win a championship in the next 5 years. well, the nets have reached the finals but only kittles remains.
