Guest nikowwf Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Seems management was not happy at the way Big Show swung Rey into the post, they were expecting him to protect Rey more and they were upset, especially since Rey legitimately got injured. This fact may change the title match at Judgment Day as punishment for Show. (seems he was in line for a title match, sigh...) niko
Guest Sakura Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 What??? No Show/Brock III? Well then I am boycotting!
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 So instead we'll get Brock/Albert......
Guest Mole Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I remember reading a few people say in their Backlash reports, that he was in line for a title match. However, I don't remember hearing that AT ALL before Backlash, so yeah. It shouldn't be Big Show anyway, did they forget about Survior Series?
Guest Mad Dog Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Did they forget about Big Show hurting Brock the first time and having to hot shot the title twice to make up for that?
Guest nikowwf Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 DO NOT SAY THINGS LIKE BROCK/ALBERT! The wrestling gods will hear you, and punish us. niko

Meltzer reported that he was going to get the title shot at Judgment Day in the week leading up to Backlash and there was a topic on the board about it.

Guest AndrewTS Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 *Halleluja chorus chimes in* Oh crap, I guess we're going to have to just push some one else into the title picture here. Cena's program bombed, and there aren't any good top heels around to challenge. What about faces? Hmmm...are there any top faces who could really use the shot, who have gotten very much over, who could help Brock's wrestling, who gets standing ovations sometimes for his wrestling, who cuts promos 10 times better than Brock. Hmmm...who could we push?

Best thing to do with Hogan / Piper is to spread it out. Have each guy work programs with others and then bring them together at ... oh ... WrestleMania. Or even a little earlier at Summer Slam. If Show doesn't get the title shot (which is a good thing and could only increase buyrates and attendance), the only other WORTHY contender I can think of is Benoit. Albert sucks beyond words, Rhyno hasn't been properly built, same with Matt and Eddie. Taker ... eh, I suppose they could hot shot a program there but I'd rather not see it.
Guest wwF1587 Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 well the saddest part of all this is that before Backlash, they were going to give him the title match at JD, but luckily the big goon fucked it up.... i hope this leads to some sort of respect match between brock/beniot
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Good, he deserves that. At least we will be spared from that disaster.
LooseCannon25 Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I'd rather see Benoit get the shot at a big PPV like SummerSlam........It might sound crazy but you can work a little program wit Rey Mysterio in a battle of Power vs. Speed, and Substance vs. Style.........But, we all know that Taker will probably get the shot.
cawthon777 Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I'd prefer they hold off on Benoit / Brock until Summer Slam but ... it has potential.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 How was Show supposed to "protect" Rey after a shot like that? Show's getting too much shit for this. I'm sure it wasn't his idea to do the spot yet when it goes wrong he gets blamed. Put the blame where it lies, with the bookers.
Bored Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Bah, its 1bob so I'll take it with a grain of salt. Besides I don't really care about Big Show being fed to Brock again because really the only other option is Benoit to get to fed Brock as there is no way Brock is dropping the title an earlier than SummerSlam. The longer they hold off on Benoit facing Brock the better the chance Benoit has of winning the title, even though I don't think he'll end up winning it anyway but at least chances increase with the longer Brock is champ.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Give me Matt vs. Benoit and Cena/Brock II.
Guest notJames Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 How was Show supposed to "protect" Rey after a shot like that? Show's getting too much shit for this. I'm sure it wasn't his idea to do the spot yet when it goes wrong he gets blamed. Put the blame where it lies, with the bookers. Big Show let go of the stretcher after it hit the post. From what I understand, that's where Rey got injured, not from hitting the post. He should have held on to the stretcher, then dropped him a little more safely. Understandably, it's probably easier said than done. But I see what you mean. In trying to build Show up for the next PPV, the writers potentially put another guy in danger. Stupid humans.
LooseCannon25 Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Give me Brock vs. Benoit vs. Rhyno vs. Cena in a Fatal 4 Way for the title, that way Brock vs. Benoit 1 on 1 is saved until SummerSlam.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Give Cena a rematch, would give them more time to book the feud better.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 you could start the feud with angle/ benoit/ rhyno. isn't the ppv after Judgement day raw only? If they book right, it gives them a 3 month build up for the first smackdown only ppv.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 you could start the feud with angle/ benoit/ rhyno. isn't the ppv after Judgement day raw only? If they book right, it gives them a 3 month build up for the first smackdown only ppv. Man are you wishing on a star. The creative team they have now have no clue about a 3 month fued/build-up. The long feuds are something the WWE has been missing far a while now. I don't see them going back to it anytime soon either. Which sucks!
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Save Benoit for Summerslam, give Brock a long enough title reign that by the time he faces Benoit you think he might actually lose it
B. Brian Brunzell Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Even though Show is a useless tool and hurt Rey legit, he has one thing going for him: HOSSITUDE! I'm betting he *still* gets the title shot at Judgement Day, due to someone's hard-on for HOSSES.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 The thing with Brock being champ is that Big Show looks like the only huge guy compaired to him. So no one else looks like a real threat
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 personally, i've got no problem with big show getting a title shot. He's not gonna win, so let Brock get a good win over a big guy to make him look stronger.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I think a Rey/Brock match would own (and not because of Brock), but unfortunatly I imagine Show will still get the title shot because he's fat. The real question is will HHH beat Brock after he's steamrolled Benoit, or wait till Wrestlemania and steamroll Angle as well?
