Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I'm chatting with the guy that posts as Slingshot Suplex right now, and the convo turned to video game rage when he lost a game. How many people actually break shit when they lose? I slam controllers around when I get pissed, I know for a fact I've broken: 1 N64 Controller, 1 PS controller, 1 SNES controller, and 1 Sega Master System controller by slamming and throwing them around. I broke my N64 controller after a bad Goldeneye day, I played and played and played and couldn't beat a level. So I slammed the controller down, and a button poped off... Now I was enrages and pounded the shit out of it till it was broken into many many pieces. Your temper ever lead you to break controllers? Games? Systems? Here's the convo by the way: ---------------------------------------------- Mooniemaniac: What a bunch of bullshit Youth N Asia182: What Mooniemaniac: Hogan beat me at Wrestlemania despite not even getting enough offense in for a special Mooniemaniac: kiss my ass....THAT bullshit is not getting saved Youth N Asia182: That's the Hulkster brother Mooniemaniac: Fuck you Mooniemaniac: Granted,I should have pinned him when I had the chance but that's just shit Mooniemaniac: See if this was my Playstation the fucker would have been across the room by now Mooniemaniac: I have some restraint Youth N Asia182: How many systems have you stomped out? Mooniemaniac: Lord knows Youth N Asia182: I know you killed a 64 and maybe a playstation Mooniemaniac: oh FUCK YOU Youth N Asia182: ... Youth N Asia182: I'm not appreciating this tone Mooniemaniac: He beats me and I offer my congratulations????? Without an option to deck him???? Mooniemaniac: SUCK MY BALLS PS2!!!!! Youth N Asia182: Hogan has creative controll Mooniemaniac: Fuck you slow with a dwarf Youth N Asia182: THAT's GOING IN THE SIG! Mooniemaniac: and I drop from a 99 to a 76 ? Youth N Asia182: He burried you Mooniemaniac: Hulk Hogan Helmsley? Youth N Asia182: HHHecks yeah Mooniemaniac: fuck and I didn't get to unlock Faarooq's aattire..... Youth N Asia182: That's a real tragedy
The Dames Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 What game were you playing??? That sounds like EWR. I've broken an N64 Controller before. Dames
Agent_Bond34 Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I haven't broken any controllers before. Sure, some have stopped working, but I didn't act like a dumbass and throw them across the room, or anything like that. Reason I never try to break my controllers, the damn things are expensive nowadays, or at least they were at one point.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I didn't say it was the smartest thing to do.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 What game were you playing??? That sounds like EWR. I've broken an N64 Controller before. Dames The guy was playing SYM if I'm not mistaken. ...uh, I need something relevent to be said now, I guess don't I? Haven't broken any of my video gaming machines, but I do remember that the very first time I got through FF4 and Tellah said to Edward "You spoony bard~!" I was laughing so hard while I tried taking a sip Pepsi that I spilt the whole two litre bottle on my SNES. Still worked though.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 When I was a kid...I had the sweeeeeeet joystick controller for NES...and my dad always played Airwolf ... well one day he loses and is so mad he throws the controller THROUGH the window...pulling the NES off the top of the TV and ripping some wiring...so then he gets pissed at THAT and throws THE NES OUT THE BROKEN WINDOW~! Well...the next day I got me a new NES...but no joystick controller btw...for those wondering...my father did have mad crazy temper tantrums... I was going to get into stories about him being a wifebeater but this forum is really no place for that...
Guest Reservoir_Kitty Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I've wanted to sometimes, but have restrained myself. If only because it's my boyfriend's PS2 and he'd probably be slightly upset if I flung it out the window or smashed it with a hammer. *shrug* I can only assume, ya know? Controllers I have broken though, I broke a 64 controller whipping some ass at No Mercy. I lost the match because of it. The little joystick thingee snapped in half. For as much as those cost, they should be a little sturdier.

I've never had so much rage that I've broken any game consoles or controllers. I always think of wasting money to get another one afterwards.
Guest Lethargic Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I always break my remote controls. I get so pissed that I have to throw something but the game controller has a cord on it so if I throw it, it won't go far enough. I grab for the remote and I can toss that damn thing all the way across the room and smash it on the wall. Did it last night playing NBA 2K3 online as a matter of fact.
Guest GeneMean Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 I've broken too many controllers to count. My best friend used to joke that Sony designed the PSX controllers similar to a boomerang shape so they'd come back to me when I'd get pissed and toss them. Of course he's the same clown that threw his copy of Excitebike out his second story window and into the lake. I did break a Sega Master System after playing HOURS to beat Shinobi. God damn that game was hard! When I finally beat the last boss, I was so overjoyed, until I realized that there was ABSOLUTELY NO ENDING, just the simple level end 'stamp' you got for every level completed. Sorry SMS, you must die for that.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 I probably broke at least 3 PS1 controllers.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 playstaion + gasoline + match = Fun.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Wow... Do you guys have rage problems with games, I mean there is no reason to get angry over the games. Your best friend deciding that in a simultaneous played NHL game season (EA) he decides to shoot instead of pass the puck to the WIDE OPEN RIGHT WINGER with the BEST CHANCE TO WIN THE GAME, CAUSE THE CAGE IS OPEN BESIDE HIM. Now that is a reason to break things. Namely that "best" friend.
Rendclaw Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 I've chucked a controller a time or two, when I was playing live 2001 for the PS1... I never did understand how a CAP with a 3 point rating of 99 can miss six wide-open threes in a row... and the computer was not missing a thing they jacked uo.... I realize if I am at the point where I am throwing controllers, its time to bury myself in a book.

I broke mine after about 5 hours of Alex Kidd and The Lost Stars...instead of continue I accidently went to end...I took the controller by the cord and slammed it to pieces.
Guest Flyboy Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Never broke anything, but I've been close to crying when I was younger (playing SF on Sega).
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 The first time I beat MK3 I was so happy I threw the controller in the air...and unplugged it from the system...almost broke it...almost...
Guest fazzle Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Nope, can't say I ever have. +1 to self control
Guest Cavi Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 I don't hurt my gaming equipment, though an N64 controller came close to being snapped in half during the APA handicap match in No Mercy. With that said, I am not beyong beating the crap out of my chair if I get extremely pissed off.
Guest crandamaniac Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Me and my bro was playing some sports game, and I was getting my BUTT kicked, so I got pissed and went to turn the Genesis off. My bro had one of those big Arcade Joysticks, and he took the thing and bashed me over the head with it. Knocked me out COLD~! That's the worse thing that's happened. Thrown a few controllers, but never broke them
Guest wwF1587 Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 yeah i have thrown a few controllers in my time.. i only broke 2 but thats before i started smoking.. now i just have a smoke when i get mad... SHUT UP!
Guest creativename Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Never broken anything on purpose, though I have nearly broken a bunch of stuff by accident. I did break my PS2's power supply trying to install a $15 no-solder mod-chip. Decided to just send it in to a pro and get a sweet Messiah 2 chip instead. Er...I suppose none of that was really relevant to the topic. Well...umm...hey Rando! I think I remember that joystick! The "Advantage" joystick, right? Everybody had one of those babies but me. I was always jealous. But then I got this obscure thingie which I could plug both regular controllers into--simultaneously!--and use turbo. That was pretty cool, and always impressed the friends, because no one had ever heard of it. (There, that counts as staying on topic. Yes, yes it does...)
Agent_Bond34 Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 I didn't say it was the smartest thing to do. I realize that. I try and take care of my games, controllers, etc as best I can so they last longer and won't need to be replaced very often. A video-game-anger related question, who here has taken a game out from the system and broken it into pieces?
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Mario Party. I have thrown my (Gold) N64 controller countless times because of this fucking game. The CPU is such a bastard. He cheats like a motherfucker, and you know he cheats, but you can't do anything about it, because he's the fucking computer. It never lands on a fucking red space, and always manages to steal your coins just as you were about to collect a star. Not to mention that he's always conspiring with the other 2 characters to fuck you over and steal all your shit. Fuck him! Fuck him straight to hell! ...Can't wait for the next one, though.
Guest Renegade Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 I've sworn at games many a time...but never damaged them.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 The Advantage Joystick ruled the world... and can easily break a window.
Guest Lethargic Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 I had a friend in the Navy who had a Genesis on the ship with him. He was playing that old CASINO game. I don't know what he was playing (poker, BJ, whatever) but he lost his money and got so made that the threw the whole system overboard.

Preach on, man. I can't count the number of obsenities I've shouted at the TV when playing that game. No matter how big of a lead I get, that motherfucking computer will ALWAYS manage to make a miraculous comeback. Usually it's by making me lose a whole series of 3-on-1 games (and thus giving all my coins to him and his cohorts), or by magically landing on a 1-player mini-game and somehow walking away with 25-30 coins (fuckin' Whack-A-Plant). That shit will just piss me off to no end because it's SO BLATANT. Of course, when I end up winning anyway, it's that much more satisfying, but getting there gives me more stress than I should ever have to suffer through...
Guest Lil Naitch Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 I used to slam around my Gamecube controller when trying to get throuhg a season in Wrestlmania. You know, when you were two to one in a cage match? Hated that shit. Then, I sold back the game and gave my Gamecube to my best friend, so problem solved.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 I trump you all in this dubious honor... Back in high school all of my friends were very competitive with NFL Blitz. We even bought one of those foam WWF championship replica belts at KayBee Toys and declared it the "Blitz Belt." As the champion one Saturday afternoon in like January '00, I was defending my title. Already trailing the best of 3 series (Blitz Belt rules) 1-0 and losing in the second game, I was DESPERATE for a break. Instead of getting a break, I got royally screwed over. I don't remember the exact details, but somehow, a pass to Jerry 'the Franchise' Rice got dropped, then intercepted, screwing me out of an easy TD. I got so pissed off, I punched out my bedroom window with my bare fist. It didn't actually hurt at all, but the broken glass and the blood streaming down my arm after I did it made for quite a sight to behold.
