Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 The following are highlights from Xtreme Mayhem's interview with Mike Awesome! The interview was conducted by Mike Nagel and Jeff Meacham on May 20th, 2003. Visit http://xtreme.themayhem.com/ to listen to the streaming audio or downloadable version of the 50+ minute interview! - When he won the WWE Hardcore Title in Madison Square Garden, he thought it was great at first, but a few weeks later he realized it didn't mean anything since they were going to bury him anyway. - He talked about being released from WWE, and said they simply had too many guys and he was simply one of the guys they got rid of. He doesn't want to go back to WWE at this point, because he is currently with All Japan Pro Wrestling and NWA TNA and he feels things are going really for himself. He said he tries to watch WWE from time to time, but he finds it hard to not turn off the television. He compared his debut with WWE to going to a new high school, where you had to adjust to everything and do things the way everyone else did. He said if you did one wrong thing that WWE didn't like, they were all over you. - He felt the Invasion could have possibly worked if WCW and WWE were given totally seperate shows without there being interpromotional matches every month. He doesn't have any relationship with Paul Heyman but did talk with him in WWE, but he feels that deep down inside, Heyman doesn't like him. He likes David Flair and feels he is a good talent. He doesn't know why WWE isn't using him and feels that even know he isn't Ric Flair, he still has something to offer to the business. He said Spike Dudley is sick in regards to the amount of bumps he is willing to take.

I think people just judge him too harshly because he's the son of Ric Flair...but think...was Ric Flair better than David at the amount of years David has been wrestling? He said if you did one wrong thing that WWE didn't like, they were all over you. That's a more appropriate metaphor than you'd imagine, since it seems like backstage these wrestlers act JUST LIKE high school kids. - He felt the Invasion could have possibly worked if WCW and WWE were given totally seperate shows without there being interpromotional matches every month. No, lack of star power, resistance to making WCW look like a threat, and watering down of it all (throwing WWF guys in there just to do a quick heel turn) seemed to be a problem. The Booker/Buff match killed the separate shows plan in WWF's view. He likes David Flair and feels he is a good talent. He doesn't know why WWE isn't using him and feels that even know he isn't Ric Flair, he still has something to offer to the business. No comment, but I'd heard that he still sucked--maybe some would disagree, but I don't know how many...
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 21, 2003 he feels that deep down inside, Heyman doesn't like him. Gee, Mike...you think so? I like Awesome, he was the best of the hoss group...but WWE just has way too many guys under contract now.
EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 David Flair hasn't really had a chance to show his stuff...I mean, basically, everyone thinks that by putting him out there since he's Ric's son is gonna make him great. It's not gonna. He's still young, and he can improve. I personally think having his dad go out there with him and being there would give him some motivation. And guess what...in about five years...the REAL gem of the Flair kids comes to town...in the guise of Reid Flair. I'm telling you. This guy has the chance to do something HUGE if he wants to wrestle. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I don't beleive David Flair has anything to offer in the ring. However...I am strangely compelled by his character on occasion.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Speaking of Flair's Sperm...What has Reed been up too lately? Last time I saw him was when he GORE GORE GORE Vince Russo and actully threw some stiff punches on him...

Last time I saw him was when he GORE GORE GORE Vince Russo and actully threw some stiff punches on him... Didn't he win a state tournament or something?? It's been a while since I've heard anything, but I was amazed at how much he's grown physically from the time of Russo in WCW to the Royal Rumble at ringside when his dad took on Vincent Kennedy McMahon
Guest ViciousFish Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I've never really seen Ric Flair wrestle in his prime. I've downloaded a couple matches from the 80's but I've never watched them. Besides his Rumble appearance I've never seen anything besides a few WCW matches and his WWE matches so I can't really compare David to him and I still say David sucks
