Otis Thorpe for the #2. pick likely Carmelo Anthony.

Who traded Otis Thorpe for a 1st round pick?

this was when otis still had some skill and was still shining his ring from 94.

Pistons just said they won't take Anthony

dumb, dumb move

The foreign players have played well enough that it's not a reach to draft Darko instead of Anthony.

I don't understand the Pistons. They have Ben Wallace to play the middle. Why do you need a scorer there, if you can draft 'Melo and have him score from the 3? Stick Big Ben down low to clean up the glass and 'Melo, Billups, and Prince can score.

But hey... the hell with them... LEBRON IS GOING TO THE CAVALIERS!

They NEED a big man center-type alongside Wallace... but one who can actually SCORE> They got the defense down, they need the big man offense.

Darko is the OBVIOUS choice for THEM. I know Carmello is great, but looking at Detroit's position I just don't get why you all are saying they're obviously gonna take Carmello.

If this was some team taht didnt make the playoffs, i'd agree, pick up Carmello Anthony. For Detroit, take Darko.

Lebron said he wasn't going to play for the Cavs because of Lucas' firing.

Banky, I responded to that two pages ago. Yes, LeBron was initially pissed about the John Lucas firing, but he's backed off from that stance since. If- scratch that- WHEN the Cavaliers draft him, LeBron will be wearing the wine and gold on opening night.

It's not like Carmelo is all defense and no offense. He's a good total package.

However, an athletic 7 footer could dominate in the east.

Either guy would be a good choice for the Pistons.

I TOLD you that by hook or by crook LeBron was going to Cleveland.....there was just too much going for it for him to go anywhere else.... If Darko is as good as everyone says he is, That might be the one thing that could but Detroit over the top in the East... but we shall see what they do come draft day...

Question of the night: How do you trade a lottery pick for Otis Thorpe?

Did the Grizzlies hire Jerry West to run the franchise, or Vince McMahon and Co.?

Tino, the Pistons need a true center. Ben Wallace can play center, but he is much most comfortable playing the 4. Add to that Ben is either 6'8" or 6'9", decent for a PF but really undersized for a C.

Considering that most of the players coming out of Europe have been pretty damned good, this could be the final piece to the Pistons' puzzle.

And yes, I am still wondering just how in the hell an aged, broken-down Otis Thorpe gets traded for the #2 overall draft pick.... that just boggles the mind.

Then again, its the Grizzlies.

Yeah, Big Ben is better suited for the PF position. A lot of people tend to forget that yes, while he is an excellent help defender, DERRICK COLEMAN was murdering him on the blocks at times during the sixers/Pistons showdown. He really isn't a very good straight up defender on people his size or larger, Yao Ming nearly brought the rim down on him with one of the nastier facials of the season and all he did was spin left with lil resistance from Ben. I'd take Darko, he's a better fit for them.

I can't help but feel for Carmello though. Welcome to Denver: The place Satan is referring to when he tells you to go to hell.

Lebron James and Ricky Davis will hate each other pretty much immediately, although I do expect them to unload Davis quickly. Theres no way those 2 fighting over shots is gonna work.

Well back when the trade was made Otis must've been worth a future first round pick.

It's not like Vancouver knowingly traded away a #2 overall draft pick for Otis.

Yeah, to be fair, they traded that for Otis a while ago. They probably thought they'd be out of the hole by now and the pick wouldn't be so great.

Is Otis Thorpe buried at the end of the Pistons bench too btw? I saw Danny Manning the other night and nearly shit myself out of confusion.

Don't count out Denver yet. I am not saying that they are a dynasty on the brink or anything like that. But, in a few years Carmello Anthony and Nene Hilario could be one of the top forward tandems in the league. They have a lot of cap room this offseason too. Maybe they could be in for a bit of good luck.

Denver should bring back the rainbow jerseys.

The rainbow jerseys will bring them luck.

I bet the Cavs job is a lot more appealing to Jeff Van Gundy now.

They need to get rid of Ricky Davis ASAP. Not just because of how many shots he takes, but do you want that kind of example for young players like Wagner and James? Combine Ricky with the first pick in the second round and see what kind of offers you get, that is what I would do at least.

no...the rainbow jerseys rule.

The rainbow jerseys are better than the bland uninteresting jerseys Denver currently has.

Those were ugly and gay.

I second that.

I really do not understand how the people who designed those jerseys thought that at the time, those would look nice.

If I'm not mistaken, those jerseys were made in the late 70/s early 80s. They probably WERE the shit back in the day.

If the Cavs keep Ricky Davis....

I've got Thanksgiving in the "When Will Ricky Davis Kick LeBron's Ass" pool.

Darko is not really so much a center as much as a Dirk type 7 footer who does not mind getting physical.

I agree if the order of players go LeBron, Darko, & Carmelo it will be a good match for each team and player. Denver may seem like a black hole, but there would be more pressure on him in Detroit than in Denver. Hell, they'd be happy with 25 wins next year!

Good points made about Darko to the Pistons. Upon further review, I agree.

As for the Cavaliers, I'd like to see them package Ricky D. and the second rounder and see who they could get in the way of a point guard. They're talking about putting LeBron at point, but I think that's a necessity move. Put a natural point in the lineup and move LeBron to the 2. Combine that with the rest of the Cavs' lineup and suddenly, things get really interesting with them.

By the way, for those of you discussing the Nuggets' uniforms, they're getting new ones next season and they are going to be powder blue with gold.

Denver is in good position they got a enough cap space to land two good quality players (Arenas, Maggette, or Olowankadi) and getting either Darko or Mello they have a nice future.

powder blue and gold...is that an old school Nuggets colour combo or are they just using old school types of colours.
