Guest razazteca Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Him: I mean it's ok but it has no catchy beat and the lyrics aren't making sense...Take Linkin Park for example...Now they are revolutionary...They are the only people to combine Rap and Rock so perfectly and have good lyrics to boot... wait a second...is it possible to listen to modern rock radio (as your friend seems to) and NOT be familiar with rage against the machine? Well, LP sucks... Rage sucks... so I'm not too concerned. Or even System of the Down?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Or the almighty STUCK FUCKING MOJO?!

River City Rocker Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 And I've heard my dad say this whenever he sees someone like Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, or whichever rock star who was famous for doing massive amounts of drugs during their heyday: "These guys are still ALIVE?!" Yeah, not really a moronic statement, but still funny nonetheless. It's like all three ceased to exist when Dad got old enough to turn it to the adult contemporary or oldies stations full time. And then there are people who believe G.G. Allin was/is just an urban legend. Reportedly, even Rolling Stone took that stance a long time ago... -Ben

Guest subliminal_animal Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 "Played" as in "you playin' yourself," with all that rah-rah bullshit.
Guest Spicy McHaggis Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 "played" as in what? overplayed? "Played" as in the same tired act for too many years.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 "played" as in what? overplayed? "Played" as in the same tired act for too many years. They only put out, what? Three full-length studio releases? Self Titled Evil Empire Battle for Los Angeles. I'm not into their "Go Mumia Go" ridiculously left view of things much myself, but they really weren't around all THAT long. I'm iffy on RATM overall, though. I love..love the first album, the rest of it though...eh. It's good for what it is.
Guest godthedog Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 "played" as in what? overplayed? "Played" as in the same tired act for too many years. oh, i'll definitely agree that they got stale, and their subsequent albums were pale imitations of their debut. but that doesn't change the fact that, the first time, they got it right, whereas linkin park never did. on their self-titled album, they did in fact "combine rap & rock so perfectly and have good lyrics to boot," which is what the argument was about.
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 In an efforts to provoke the anger in others, at the "Henry Rollins covers Black Flag" show my friend and I told people that we only knew Rollins from his work in GAP ads and his role in the upcoming Bad Boys 2 film. You'd be surprised at how agitated people get.

I agree with that. I honestly enjoy them in small doses, communist views or not.
Guest justsoyouknow Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 My sister just the other day: "Wilco sucks. They're totally just a bad ripoff of Bright Eyes."
