Guest Ravenbomb Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 why do these thread's always end up with people insulting people for not liking (or potentially not liking), or liking a particular movie?
Guest Vyce Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Best thing to come out of AICN in years: That Keira Knightely ad for "Bend it Like Beckham". Sexiest tomboy beanpole on the planet indeed.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 AICN is good for updates and whatnot but I find Harry's reviews to be a cross between overtly dramatic and generally annoying. It seems to me that the man loves every single movie. He called the character of Nightcrawler in X2 "a revelation." I'm a big fan of X2 and of Nightcrawler but the word "revelation" is something I'd use a with a lil more discretion. He reminds me of Ric Flair fans to whom every single match is **** or more. Oh, and Tears of the Sun was 10x better then anybody gave it credit for.

Sexiest tomboy beanpole on the planet indeed. I liked the Gordon has a beer and cheats on his wife jokes better. That's the only thing I look at on those boards. I just read the title of the posts. The actual posts are some of the stupidest things on the internet.

Guest Marshall Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 I personally love Harry! He does have a lot of intelligent and interesting things to say about movies, he is also a very sick man. Read his Blade 2 review, it's amazingly off topic and just plain wrong. But then read his Grand Canyon review, it's very insightful, it's very moving and interesting. But dont read his book, it's a load of crap!
Guest bravesfan Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Biker Boyz? *DING* *DING* *DING* WE HAVE A WINNER!
Guest kane3212321 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 The resonates with the emotional intelligence of Graham Greene one that's coming in is pretty funny, but the Gordon has a beer and CHEETS on his wife joke is the best.
Guest redbaron51 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 that one movie thats coming up with the two american idol finalist...that musical. It'll suck the big one. and how could you say DareDevil was bad. At least it was better than Spiderman.
Guest bravesfan Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 From Justin To Kelly....man, really, WHY would anyone watch this?
Guest SP-1 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 How exactly was Daredevil better than Spider-Man? Spider-Man is, to me, the first superhero movie to get it right. It's not too real-world, it's not too off the wall. It was filmed like a comic book that moves. There was character development, drama, and just enough humor. X2 kills them both, but to me DD and Spidey are right on the same level.
Guest Brush with Greatness Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 The Insomnia on Rotten Tomatoes that pulled 100% is not the Robin Williams/Al Pacino one but rather a Swedish film from 97 which the 2002 one seems to be based on.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Harry Potter came out this year? Ugh, that takes it. I'd rather watch Life of David Gale 20 times in a row than watch Harry Potter
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Harry Potter came out in 2002. Next one 2004. 2003 is Harry Potter free...unless you count Order of the Phoenix coming out in hardcover. SATURDAY BABY!
Guest Marshall Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 DareDevil was just boring! Ben Assfuck was as boing a hell. Nothing even happened in that movie, think about it. Every piece of dialogue is just horrible.
Guest MrRant Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Dumb and Dumberer or Legally Blonde 2 - Red, White and Blonde. Just a hunch.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 For the longest time when you guys said Spirited Away and said it was an animated film, I thought you were talking about that horse movie, with Matt Damon. Ahh well, both were pretty damn good in my eyes. I'd assume that nothing is worse than Biker BoyZ, although I haven't seen it. I personally disliked Spiderman, hated Daredevil, and again disliked X2. Honest to God I don't know why, if someone can explain why they liked it as much as they seemed to, I'd like to hear it, since I didn't want to leave the theater hating these movies, but I did anyway. Matrix Revolutions was alright, could've been better without all the pseudo-intellectual discussion being spewed all over the place.
Guest SP-1 Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Paragon, those kinds of movies just might not be your thing. And I don't think anythingin reloaded was pseudo. It's essentially a movie about Pre-destination, which is something very interesting to me as a Presbyterian.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 I loved the original Batman movie, but in truth, I'm not a big Superhero comic book fan, so perhaps you're right. I think the Matrix was trying to take itself too seriously, as I was referring to all the "philosophical" discussion. The Pre-determination thing is pretty interesting I must admit, and that puts the movie in the "good" range for me. The Car Chase scene also happened to be the greatest Car Chase scene ever, but maybe that's just me.
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 The Car Chase scene also happened to be the greatest Car Chase scene ever, but maybe that's just me. No, I totally agree.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Anyways, in reference to what I was saying before, most people have only seen Spirited Away it seems. What are your opinions about Spirit, Stallion of the Cimmauron or something like that? I thought it was pretty enjoyable, traditional American flick. Did anyone here actually see Biker Boyz? 2Fast2Furious?
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 I saw Biker Boyz. It sucked the big one. I mean the acting and dialogue was terrible and the characters all annoyed the hell out of me.
Guest HBK16 Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Dumb and Dumberer or Legally Blonde 2 - Red, White and Blonde. Just a hunch. Dumb and Dumberer is one of the worse this year. I think Downhome will back me up on this one.
LooseCannon25 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I agree with Dumb and Dumberer.....they totally dropped the ball on that one....and if it took 8 years for them to come up with that garbage then they should have just never thought of a sequel....awful In the first movie Lloyd and Harry were morons but they werent retarded...these guys act like they have down syndrome and the plot is so fuckin stupid that i couldnt believe it. Terrible movie, terrible characters, terrible plot......terrible!
