Guest justsoyouknow Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 I was driving home from work today when I heard the Johnny Cash cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt"...the song literally brought tears to my eyes, especially when he got to the part where he wonders "What have I become?...." Great, great song when performed by Nine Inch Nails, and Johnny Cash only improves upon it. Hopefully the recent death of June Carter Cash doesn't take away all his desire to live, since most felt that she was the only reason he clinged to life. Anyway, what are the songs that can literally bring you to tears? (Can't wait to hear Saturnmark say something about Andrew WK) justsoyouknow
B. Brian Brunzell Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 There aren't any songs that bring me to tears, but "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas and Evanecence's "My Immortal" hit me right in the heart.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 The Cure - Pictures Of You
Guest welshjerichomark Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Westlife - Fool Again Mel C and Lisa Lopez - Never be the same again The songs themselves aren't particulary emotional, but they remind me of a certain person and i always get a bit choked when i hear them-that's my girly emotional side showing through. Also Guns 'n Roses - November rain, Just the sheer brilliance of Slash's guitar solo brings me to tears. Damn i wish i had that kind of talent.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Westlife? That person better be something special! For me: Jeff Buckley - Morning Theft and Sigur Ros - Agaetis Bryjun

Rendclaw Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" does it to me every time, ever since I was like 5 years old in the middle of a supermarket and that came on over the muzak and I started crying. Def Leppard - Too Late For Love Megadeth - A Tout Le Monde Joe Satriani - Tears In The Rain, Why, Fuel - Hemorrhage Pantera - Cemetary Gates
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 REM, "Perfect Circle" Donovan "Catch the Wind" Also much of Van Morrison's "Moondance" album, great stuff.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 "Owen's Song" ...I can't help it. "...Weeeee still neeeed you Owen..." *sobs*
Guest spiny norman Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 The Cars - Drive REM - Everybody Hurts John Lennon - Jealous Guy Billy Joel - She's Always A Woman Mike + The Mechanics - The Living Years Wendy Matthews - The Day You Went Away I should stop now.
Guest SweetNSexyDiva Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Joe Satriani "Always With Me, Always With You"... My husband and I always thought of it as "our song", even though there are no lyrics it is really beautiful. Eric Clapton "Tears in Heaven" Aaliyah "The One I Gave My Heart To" (personal reasons) Mariah and Boys II Men "One Sweet Day"
Guest justsoyouknow Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Ugh....I feel like shit. The girl that I was on-again/off-again with was at this party tonight.....my friends and I were just dicking around earlier and I bet one of them that he couldn't fuck her tonight. I was fine with the idea, since I haven't seen or talked to her in like three weeks, but the second I saw her, everything just came rushing back. All those feelings and everything. Then the two of them disappeared for like twenty minutes and I just fucking lost it. I started beating the shit out of everything....I punched the cement walls and my forehead repeatedly, then it was decided that I should leave because of my "rage problems"....so I went outside and punched her car so hard that I left a dent in it, then I broke my friend's sunglasses and his CDs and left them on her trunk. I need these sad songs right now....I'm fucking depressed and I nearly cried like three times already tonight. .....I feel like shit. Thanks for the help with the music.
Guest Muzz Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Anathema - One Last Goodbye Katatonia - Right into the Bliss James Horner - Tania Avantasia - Farewell Metallica - The Unforgiven Guns 'N' Roses - November Rain ... I'm a very emotional person. Of course, I usually weep when things are really down.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Two songs have brought me to tears, "Drop It", by 3 Steps Ahead, and Aphex Twin's "Digeridoo". Both extremely fast techno songs. The, for lack of a better word, immensity of those songs is just overwhelming to me.
Guest DARRYLXWF Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Nessun Dorma, especially when its sung by Beniamino Gigli
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Looking Glass-Brandy.It's a really sad story about a love that will never be. I used to laugh it off has a 70's one hit wonder, but the more I listen to it the more it gets to me.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Dream On - Aerosmith. Come as you are - Nirvana Under the Milky Way Tonight - The Church
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Insane Clown Posse - "Pass Me By" Shadows Fall - "To Ashes" Marilyn Manson - "Coma White" All have to do with either death or the loss of a loved one, and the Manson song deals with drug abuse. Surprisingly enough, the ICP song is the most positive one. EDIT: Also, add "Amazing Grace" when performed on bagpipes.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL here it is, yes, friends, Andrew WK has brought me to tears on occasion, and will do again. It was just so refreshing to discover him in the festid pile of rotting beef entrails that is music. The title track of 'I Get Wet' in particular stands out. I'll never understand why everyone hates him, and Coldplay are labelled as genius when they should be serving time in a South American prison for claiming to be artists. Twats. Still, the new album's on the horizon, thank GOD. Aside from that, 'Country Feedback' by REM 'We'll Let You Know' by Morrissey, the live version (to name but one) 'In Your Veins' - by The Soundtrack of our Lives that's all I can think of for now, I'm sure Tom Waits has done a couple that would set me going...
Guest papacita Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 "By Your Side" by Sade and and "This Woman's Work" by Maxwell, both because they were playing on the radio when I found out about the deaths of a family member and a friend respectively. Also the old Sam Cooke song "A Change is gonna come"...I get choked up everytime I hear that.
Guest Spicy McHaggis Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 "Danny Boy" & "Amazing Grace" "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" - My good friend's uncle passed a few years ago and Cris's dad, the uncle's brother gave a short eulogy. He sang this at the end because Pat was so positive. I never cry at funerals but I lost it there.
Guest bravesfan Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Boys II Men - "It's So Hard..." (same situation as Papacita.) Gun N' Roses - "November Rain". Kid Rock - "Lonely Road of Faith" (the last verse is awesome) Sarah McLachlan - "I Will Remember You". (the WWE version had a tribute to Foley...this song makes me break down.) I'd say, there's about one more song that can trigger these emotions, but I'd have to think.
Guest Addy Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 I've listened to the Bloodhound Gang for 4 years now, and just yesterday when I put on their CD "One Fierce Beer Coaster", I became rather emotional on a certain song. The song is called 'Your Only Friends Are Make Believe'. Although the song is mostly a jokey type, the part where Jimmy Pop sings the chorus very gently with little background instruments playing really got Me. The said lyrics are: "Your best friend is you... I'm my best friend too... I share the same views and hardly ever argue, Eat SPAM from the can... Watch late night C-Span... And rock out to old school Duran Duran." It basically just made Me think off all the occasions where I spent alot of time with myself. Spending time with Adam. I'll shut up now.
Guest Mad the Swine Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Queen - The Show Must Go On John Lennon - Imagine Beatles - Let It Be Brian Wilson - Lay Down Burden And I almost feel dumb for this: Harry Chapin - Cat's in the Cradle
Guest Kinetic Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Well, Sinead O'Conner's version of "Nothing Compares 2 U," for one. The video has me whimpering like a newborn every time I see it. Other than that, I don't tend to cry to songs because a.) I have testicles, and b.) I'm not a girl.
Guest ChikoDemono Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 1. Mazzy Starr's Fade Into You has always gotten me. 2. Jack Off Jill's cover of the Cure's Love Song makes me all warm inside. 3. The Deftones' Birthmark also does it for me. I'm sure there are more since I am a softy, but there's a few.
Guest caboose Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Feeder - 'Just A Day' The Deftones - 'Be Quiet And Drive' Goo Goo Dolls - 'Iris'
Guest DR PHIL Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Nessun Dorma, especially when its sung by Beniamino Gigli A-FUCKING-MEN! Also beautifully done by andrea bocelli. I'd have to say adagio for strings is the most powerfully emotional song i've ever heard.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 "Nanook Rubs It" by Frank Zappa made me cry tears from laughing so hard. I've never bawled due to a sad song though. I don't cry. It's not a macho thing, and I get as depressed as the next guy, I guess, I just don't cry.
