Guest bravesfan Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Let Dreamer Carry the ECW title around for fun... Heck, give it to Rhyno - he still has the rights to it.
Guest Steviekick Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Let Dreamer Carry the ECW title around for fun... He starts defending it as the Hardcore Title. Ignore me...too much wishful thinking. I followed ECW since it's beginning and I mark for it in any form.
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 :: Vince picks up title deed :: "Tape library, promotional material, logos, IOU to Shane Douglas for $400,000, t.... WHAT THE?"
Guest The Czech Republic Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Problem with the Wrestling Channel concept: Are most of the PPV videos out of print? This way, they can show matches from Wrestlemania X, for example, and not worry about losing money.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Don't forget the stacks of unsold Jack Victory t-shirts
Guest NoCalMike Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Unless ECW footage is used on air or for more dvd commercial releases, this means nothing besides the grave being filled for any history on ECW.......Also, tape traders beware, WWE lawyers will be on that ass.
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 every video pre-Survivor Series 1997 is OOP
Guest HartFan86 Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Basically, Vince buying ECW in June of 2003 is about two years after it meant something. So the point is basically so Vince can see he owns ECW. That's about it.
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 watch RF Video get a $50 million fine tomorrow
Guest Steviekick Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 :: Vince picks up title deed :: "Tape library, promotional material, logos, IOU to Shane Douglas for $400,000, t.... WHAT THE?" HHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHA~~!!!! Instead of paying him back, they offer him the IC title and a spot in Evolution so he can boss Flair around. Count me in if they're sellign Jack Victory shirts
Guest bravesfan Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Also, tape traders beware, WWE lawyers will be on that ass. Tape traders are immune to this, but commercial websites like RFVideo.com are going to be royally screwed, unless they remove all ECW material immediately. every video pre-Survivor Series 1997 is OOP Every video pre-Judgment Day 2002 is OOP.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Instead of paying him back, they offer [shane Douglas] the IC title and a spot in Evolution so he can boss Flair around. I thought he was all "down with evolution, in with revolution!"
Guest Steviekick Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 maybe that would work better...they bring in the ultra sucky Douglas led Revolution to feud with Evolution. His aging legend can be Koko B. Ware and his blande rookie can be Spanky...SMELL THE RATINGS~!
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Does Vern Gagne still own the AWA library? I don't think so, considering an AWA match shows up on the new Shawn Michaels dvd. Last newsbit I read about the footage, and this was some months ago, is that Vince was trying to get it. So he very well could have the footage in full by now. Concerning other defunct promotions, I'd guess that World Class and CWA/USWA would be next on Vince's list.
Guest commie_050 Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 he should buy Viking Hall for the hell of it - open a new training facility there and have weekly shows with the trainees and the mid-carders fuck OVW - ya got ECW! If he did that and they had ECW TV tapings or just flat out tapes, I would cry very happily. It would be interesting to see if they started another training camp under the ECW name...it's much more established and recognizable than OVW. Maybe they'd have Paul E. run it instead of Cornette. Actually, I'd like to see Vince add another feeder organization, like OVW, except with the ECW name attached and let Heyman run it. The, one becomes a feeder organization for Smackdown, the other for RAW. Over time, as the two organizations feed new wrestlers into each brand, they'll be shaped by their own farm organization, giving a great distinction between the two brands. Moreover, they can ship more stars down to these companies, and hand out the Velocity slot to one and the Heat slot another, giving us smarks something to watch. Plus, it could draw fans who are tired of the WWE product but still love wrestling. In a way, it would be like three organizations, just in one company. Unfortunately, Vince is WAY too much of a control freak to give Heyman/Cornette the freedom to let something like this work.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 This week on Confidential... Paul Heyman: So I went to Atlanta and had a meeting with him. A pretty nice guy, I guess, but I really wanted to know what this media mogul wanted me to come down south for - at the time I was just a manager... He said to me "Paul, I really hate that Vince McMahon and I want to do everything in my power to destroy him" and I said "but you already have WCW" and he said "WCW is a piece of shit, everyone see's it as WWF lite, I want something with an edge, something grass-roots, something to really hit Vince where it hurts." and I told him about this concept I had about a hardcore promotion that I actually got from a conversation with Vince McMahon himself over the phone in 1992 - he was a real pioneer and wanted to make his product edgy'er but the steroid trial prevented him to do that - so I stole that idea from him and told it to Ted Turner and Ted helped put me in touch with a man by the name of Todd Gordon and that's how ECW began. Really. No foolin. Attitude wasn't my creation at all, it was Vince's, I was the one who stole it... That's the truth... --------- Aside from the raping of history, I'm happy that the WWE has the ECW library, now we can get a Benoit, Jericho, Eddie DVD.
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 I pray to GOD that Vince somehow has a lapse in sanity, and sells his tape libraries, to, I dunno....ANYBODY ELSE. I mean, the man owns damned near everything that happened in North America as far as wrestling goes, and what does he do with it? He changes it to suit his own needs. I just want it in the hands of people who will release stuff that says what ACTUALLY happened, not what Vince said happened.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Yeah, that does suck. But really, who else would use it? I mean, I really don't like Vince, but he's the only guy who can get that material to us, so I'm not losing any sleep with it in his possession. Hopefully Paul is in his ear about this, whispering "Benoit Tape", "Benoit Tape", "Benoit Tape".
King Cucaracha Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Vince is trying to buy out the old videos etc so that they won't be able to be shown on this new 'Alternative to WWE Wrestling Channel' we're supposed to be getting in Britain. Without it, ECW shows might be shown on this program, ECW fans would tune in, probably at the same time as Raw is on, and Vince would start to lose his British fan base.
Guest William E Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 I always wished some very rich wrestling fan would buy the rights to ECW before Vince did and bring it back to life.
Guest geniusMoment Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Who cares through "trading" you can get every ECW show and every ECW television show on tape. I already have almost every ECW event, at a far cheaper price then it will cost from Vince.
Guest cabbageboy Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 I remember hearing Vince say a while back in some press conference that he was interested in starting up ECW again. Maybe as a show a notch below his WWE shows but yet its own separate brand. This also means we get.....the Best of RVD on DVD.
Adam Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Best of RVD DVD would Rule,. as would Benoit, Jericho and Eddie. I just hope Vince doesn't bury the name.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 the Best of RVD on DVD. Isnt that an oxymoron...a sentence that contradicts itself
TheFranchise Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Best of RVD DVD would Rule, So.... look forward to Best Of DVD's for Funaki, Steve Regal and Garrison Cade..... Actually, the Regal one would be worth getting if only for the Regal/Goldberg match that they should put on it.
Guest razazteca Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 maybe that would work better...they bring in the ultra sucky Douglas led Revolution to feud with Evolution. His aging legend can be Koko B. Ware and his blande rookie can be Spanky...SMELL THE RATINGS~! Actually a Triple Threat lead by the Franchise with Stevie Richards and Tommy Dreamer, Victoria would be soooooo entertaining. Tommy Dreamer could yell "WW F'N E" alot. Shane Douglas could complain how he was hhheld down back when he was IC champ Stevie could do the sidekick act that he does so well Victoria would be the valet that kicks ass
Guest Retro Rob Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 could this mean the ECW titles might come back? What would be the point in bringing them back three years after the company died?
TheFranchise Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Why bring the WCW US title back two years after it died?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Why bring the WCW US title back two years after it died? So they can not give it to Benoit.
Guest Retro Rob Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Why bring the WCW US title back two years after it died? I really do not consider it the WCW US Title. It is the WWE version of it. In other words, just another mid-card title.
