Guest starvenger Report post Posted July 2, 2003 Now wait just a cotton pickin minite here! Do you know who owns Village Roadshow? THE AOL TIME WARNER BROTHERS. BULLSHIT they dont have the cash- They GOT Cash...they teh lazy. But I am not crying about however-but still I never said that Villiage Roadshow didn't have cash - I said that the PR Producer said that the PR BUDGET didn't have enough cash. They're probably blowing it as it is by letting the kids wear more than one set of clothes... You guys know Toho? The guys that made Godzilla- and with there smaller Production Company- did Ultraman--- Well, they have a Super Sentai series planned called Super Star God Grand Ceisar- They are all based on the twelve signs of the zodiac, and they are in teams of threes. This is the main group- http://www.thai-toku.com/photos/grandcei.jpg These are the rest of the teams http://madarms.hp.infoseek.co.jp/0306/06-21-000.avi This is a video of the teams in action... Good lord, I have a feeling 4kids will get this show--or is working with Toho for this show... If there are robots, then I'm all for it...
Guest NCJ Report post Posted July 2, 2003 Power Rangers was the shiznit. Loved them until Turbo. The first movie kicked major ass. I had a huge crush on Amy Johnson.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted July 2, 2003 I like every Anime in Japanese more......damn dubbing companies screw it up. There's certainly a case to be made for many but dubs, but every dub a bad dub? Some fanboys.
JasonX 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2003 And speaking of Goldar, how can you forget the original Power Ranger bad ass villain? He used to KILL these guys. Plus that hot chick of his Scorpina used to kick some ass too. Yeah, Scorpina was pretty cool. One of my favorite episodes was the one where she comes back and tries to seduce the second Black Ranger and the entire episode has the Second Yellow Ranger stalking the two and obsessing about how her teammate couldn't fall in love with another woman who wasn't her.... Actually, from what I heard, besides the fact that there isn't enough money in the PR budget, is also that the PRNS cast is non-SAG, and SAG members get all the lines when working with non-SAG members. So, that's also another reason.
JasonX 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2003 Oh and didn't Jason come back? I remember him coming back.....but why? Part of the whole bait and switch in regards to the identity of the Gold Ranger. All signs were pointing to Tommy's long lost brother becoming the Gold Ranger after Gold Ranger was outed as a generic alien. But they brought Jason in to be the Gold Ranger out of the thin blue sky...
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted July 5, 2003 Yeah, didn't Jason show up in that awful TURBO movie? *shiver* Whatever. They ignored the movies anyway. I HATE that. Journey to another planet to gain Ninja powers and defeat Ivan? Awesome. Ninjor? Lame.
JasonX 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2003 The thing about Turbo is that it actually got BETTER once Tommy, Adam et al left and the new rangers came in. Still, there was some bad crap in there (the kid, the morphing motion, the kid, the original morphing animation, the kid, Divatox II and did I mention the kid?). The best things about this show were the Zords (of course), Divatox I (played wonderfully over the top by Hillary Sheppard-Turner) Turbo was one big walking abortion until the last couple of episodes, when they started the build-up to the whole Dark Spector arc that ran throughout PRIS and had Divatox actually be a villain instead of a pathetic spoiled brat who couldn't wipe her own ass and successfully destroy the Power Rangers HQ and Power Source. I don't remember ANYTHING about Tommy's long lost brother.
Guest JaKyL25 Report post Posted July 5, 2003 I was a HUGE fan up until Zeo. Even then I still followed it until Billy left the show or that little kid became a Ranger in the next season after Zeo, whichever came last. Tommy as Green Ranger owns every other Ranger I ever saw. The episode arc where his Green Candle started to burn out and he started to lose his powers was completely bad ass. Wasn't it around this time that he took on Goldar one-on-one WITHOUT the powers and still held his own/whooped some Goldy ass? Awesome.
Guest TheMadmanGreg Report post Posted July 5, 2003 The green ranger was easily the best ranger... ever. Period. Arguing this point if futile... although I haven't watched the series at all since the switch to Zeo... but I did see the Turbo movie... and was totally lost. Anyway, my favorite episode(s) is where all the parents are taken, and the rangers give up their power coins... but they get double crossed because apparently Goldar is a dishonest fellow (who knew?) Anyway, they were at the end of the episode and being all "Well, we lost our coins." and Jason says "No, there's still one left." then he holds that green ranger coin. And we see good ol' Tommy walk in, wonder where everybody went, and then the Green Ranger music (which owned) hits for the very first time. I tell you, I really hated the show until I heard that Green Ranger song. That was pretty cool. Much better than the "White Ranger Tiger Power" rewrite. I feel like such a dork now. Guest Big McLargeHuge Report post Posted July 5, 2003 Has anyone here taken to the any of the series post-Zeo? I didn't. Too many cast shake-ups for my tastes. There isn't much time to make any sort of connection with these characters when you know they'll be gone in a year. That's why the original series is so highly regarded. Guest DerangedHermit Report post Posted July 5, 2003 I've gotten to see the post-Zeo stuff. Power Rangers in Space, Ninja Storm and Time Force are the best from the post-Zeo stuff. PR in Space: The Turbo crew (minus Justin) head for help in space. The Power Chamber has been destroyed by Divatox, and the Turbo Powers are gone. As the Rangers hide in the ruins of their former base of operations, Divatox leaves for deep space, where a federation of evil leaders is called together for an urgent summit. Among the familiar faces: Lord Zedd, Rita Repulsa, Master Vile, and the Machine Empire. Their new leader, Dark Specter, has kidnapped Zordon, and plans to drain his powers for evil. He has placed princess of evil Astronema in charge of destroying the Rangers. United to foil Dark Specter's plot, the Power Rangers must travel into deep space and free Zordon before his powers become Dark Specter's. They acquire a NASADA spacecraft and take off, leaving Justin behind with his father. In space, they meet a Red Ranger, who gives them powers and allows them to team up with him against Dark Specter. The final two episodes (Countdown to Destruction Parts I and II) are recommended viewing. Time Force: When a sinister mutant travels into the past, only one force can bring him in - Power Rangers Time Force. The legendary team battles to prevent Ransik from taking over the year 2001, aided by futuristic weapons and vehicles, as well as the Quantum Ranger. The villain completely owns the Rangers. Ninja Storm: Three rebellious students are the last ones remaining at their ninja academy after evil aliens attack the Earth. To save the world, their ninja master teaches them to harness ancient mystical energies that transform them into Power Rangers. The Thunder Rangers and the Green Samurai Ranger also join the team later on. A Samurai's Journey Part I, II and III are the best episodes so far. It's less serious but very enjoyable. It reminds me of the older Power Ranger episodes.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2003 WTF? I always thought the intention was to have Billy recieve the powers. I don't remember ANYTHING about Tommy's long lost brother. Yeah, I thought it was going to be Billy too, but now that it's been mentioned I do seem to remember that they briefly brought in a character that was Tommy's brother, at which point I lost hope for it being Billy. Guest TheMadmanGreg Report post Posted July 5, 2003 Remember when the Power Rangers (I think it was the In Space crew) crossed over with that live-actions Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle group? That was cool simply because the monster that was destroying the rangers got owned by the turtles in, like, 20 seconds.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2003 Ok so I watched 'Forever Red'... was it me or were the bad guys in that episode the Big Bad Beetleborgs (worst show ever possibly)?
Guest Big McLargeHuge Report post Posted July 6, 2003 You are correct. Didn't "Zach" (original black power ranger) and "Kat" (pink zeo ranger) voice the villains?
Guest DerangedHermit Report post Posted July 6, 2003 You are correct. Didn't "Zach" (original black power ranger) and "Kat" (pink zeo ranger) voice the villains? Yes, as well as Archie Kao (Kai, the Blue Galaxy Ranger and Archie Johnson on CSI).

Guest SP-1 Report post Posted July 7, 2003 I just watched Forever Red. It was cheesy. Very cheesy. But those were some pretty damn cool fight scenes for a "kids" show. That kicked a few different kinds of ass, yo. I'm glad I have it now.
Guest EdwardKnoxII Report post Posted July 7, 2003 The one thing that got my about the Green Ranger was his zord. I mean I loved it and I love the Zord it would make when it combined with the other but, what got me was how he'd control it. He'd control it by playing a damn flute from the sidelines for crying out and I know a few times were he would jump on the top of the zord and play the flute which I thought was dumb unless there was some kind of forcefield that protected him from harm if the zord fell. But, I know a few times he would jump in the zord and control it like the other rangers did. I just wondered why he didn't do that often.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted July 7, 2003 That flute tune to summon Dragonzord from the sea was awesome. I don't know why it's so awesome, but it's so catchy and sweet.

There isn't much time to make any sort of connection with these characters when you know they'll be gone in a year. That's why the original series is so highly regarded. I guess the thing about it was that it was hard to make one series flow properly into another, so they just went "fuck it" and copied the Japanese model of starting from scratch each year. The flow from Mighty Morphin to In Space was awesome though, and as evidenced by Lost Galaxy and Lightspeed it took a couple of seasons to regain their footing. I just watched Forever Red. It was cheesy. Very cheesy. But those were some pretty damn cool fight scenes for a "kids" show. That kicked a few different kinds of ass, yo. I'm glad I have it now. I wouldn't call it "cheesy" - Bulk and Skull are cheesy. Quite simply it's a loose plot and bad dialogue designed to get people from 10 seasons together to kick ass. But like you said, the ass kicking more than makes up for the fact that the plot could fit on a matchbox. Too bad it was only 30 minutes though...
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted July 7, 2003 Agreed. Part of me was hoping that their 10 Zords would come out to play and maybe be able to link up into some mega-kick-ass-REDZORD~! or something to fight off Serpentera. I think they spent more money on those fight scenes than they spent on 10 seasons worth of fight scenes before. Seriously. There was some ass-whipping in that episode. There was some ass-whipping in that episode. Yeah - the guys who actually DO martial arts Jason, Tommy, Wes and Eric got to once again show their fighting chops, thus making guys like Andros and Carter look like pussies with their prop guns. Too bad they couldn't figure out a way to work Adam (Johnny Yong Bosch) in there - he has some pretty kickass moves as well...
