Who's on roids and who isn't?

"Is 30 pounds *that* big of a deal when you consider 3 years, plus the fact that he apparantly enjoys weightlifting, and is now in the same boat as Angle (No reason to stay at any given size)? I'm not saying that he's NOT on roids, but just because he's huge, that doesn't mean he IS."

Actually, 27 pounds, and remember WWE exaggerates stats anyway. No way in hell that Tajiri gained 25 pounds or so when he jumped from ECW to WWE without us noticing.

Not to toot my own horn but I lift weights and have a good physique. It can be done but I'm still far away from what would be an average physique in the WWE. Granted though I don't have good genetics as I am a very skinny person naturally. I've never used roids.

Let me ask you this...

do you follow the same workouts as most of the bigger WWE superstars? They're huge atheletes. 85% of casual weightlifters could not keep up with the training regimine these guys go with, hence why they of course look a hell of a lot more ripped and bigger than you do

*Very Few* people can look like the avg WWE wrestler does without steroids.

Eternally Lazy:Don't take this the wrong way but:

I'm sorry buddy but you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

If I followed the routines of the WWE superstars (Let's say they train like the average bodybuilder which is fair) I would shrink. So would a lot of people. When I first started training I trained like an animal and followed the popular method of "more is better". This gave me some strength but makes you hit a wall really early in your training career. This is because it depletes your recovery reserves too much and you just simply can't recover enough to gain muscle. People who train for a very long time and are humongous is yet another possable sign of roid/growth hormone use. (Unless they just have super super genetics) When I came to my senses and starting cutting down my volume I grew signifigantly compared to my previous attempts. Let me spell it out there for a good percentage of people who's ever wanted to train so they don't waste precious time. Short intense exercise and intensity cycling is key for most trainees. Freaks can gain off high volume but they're in the minority.

As for my training intensity I train intense when I'm in the gym. I've had much bigger bodybuilders compliment me on my intensity. I've done my 20rep breathing squats to failure and than stripped the weight just for the fun of it. It's just these days I train smart.

I'd hate to even think that Angle is on roids, and I doubt very much about Storm. Jericho is a definate no IMO too.

Short and intense is the way to gain muscle mass, right? Wouldn't you think that with the lack of time most superstars have that they would do short and intense though?

Depends on who it is. Some probably do and some don't. A lot of it really comes down to genetics. I know Michaels has trained some short and intense acorrding to him. Benoit though is said to train very intensely and for a medium amount of time. At least one of his routine which I think he once said consists of sets for an hour with 60 second intervals and 1hr cardiovascular work (that's one crazy workout!) would be great for endurance but not so much for size IMO. Who says he doesn't change it up though? Some people are just naturally meant for muscle though and can get away training however they want. I think there should be some safe experimentation on someone's part to find out what works for them.

Muscle Fact of the day:

Once you've been big once and then lose it your muscles acquire something that's called muscle memory. This allows you to get your muscle back faster and easier than the effort you took to get it in the first place. This can explain somewhat a wrestler getting strength back fast after an injury before blurting out roids.

I used to actaullly take steroids in high school beause i was trying to get a football scolraship but i don't anymore but i'm stilll 260 and ripped. Steroids really dont have the affexts that you guys loook for.

I took roids as well but I could never tell If it affected me since Bacne is Genetic for me...I have been shaved my whole lifting life...

I only used it during Baseball season and stopped after High School...

Well, we thank you for pointing out bad spelling as a side-effect of taking steroids. The office of the U.S. Surgeon General will be in touch with you shortly,

Anyone who hits the spinebuster uses steriods.

I don't blame them. It's a difficult move.

Angle wanted to go back to the Olympics late last year, folks. He wouldn't have even flirted with the idea if he was on the roids. Keep in mind Angle's training is also intense as all hell. He's also had injury after injury (knee, neck, now hamstring.)

Edge, yes, because when he came back from that injury he was incredibly ripped and had huge arms. He also says in his column that his workout routine is real casual and is nothing special, really. Well he had to make all that growth SOMEHOW.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I'd put Lesnar in the Maybe category just because he was so huge when he won the NCAA. He looks like the prime target for roids but I don't think he could have won that Championship being that big on roids. Surely they'd test for that kind of thing.

Booker T is so on them. I was looking at that WM XIX poster where he's got a bicep as big as head (seriously) and thinking "WHAT IN THE GODDAMN HELL!?!"

Wildpegasus is silly for suggesting Kidman. Gimme a break. I mean, I haven't seen the guy through all the years, so maybe he was on them in the past and I didn't know, but these days I don't think so. I saw Kidman in March and he looked like he always did. I stood around with him enough and thought to look for any needle points and I didn't see anything.

Just a hunch, but Shannon Moore sure got bigger while he was in HWA.

Big Poppa Smurf without a doubt. WHY DID I LOOK OUT MY HOTEL WINDOW THAT NIGHT? I so didn't need to see that guy in a thong!

RRR, I have shoulder acne, and I'm not on roids. I'll agree on the Edge thing, but that's a poor way to judge.

For people who think just because someone competed in the NCAA or Olympics they're not on roids:

You can beat the tests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah but with Angle I don't think it's happened. Someone just said that Angle looks huge compared to his 2000 physique but looking through my WrestleMania collection, I just don't see it. He looks less cut, but being cut requires more working out more often, and he doesn't have the time for that since he signed. But size-wise he looks the same to me.

What about RVD or Goldberg?

there's only one drug RVD takes...

This has been one of the smartest threads in a long time...anyways...

Genetics is huge in getting a good bidy, as been said. I mean, when people see me, and then my dad, they don't see it. My dad is 220 cut, military guy. I'm 160 pounds with barely any cut. I achieved my grandfather's redneck build.

Hey Justin, how long you been working out? for the past year and half, I've been doing the less weight, more reps and killer cardio(can run the mile in 4:30 baby!...that's an achievemnt for me, aight!) yet I barely see any change, body wise. I don;t take any health aids, and I watch my diet closely. Any pointers or am I on the right track?

I just wanted to mention something about acne/bacne being used as evidence that someone is using steroids

my younger brother is a highschool wrestler (and is definitely not on steroids), and even though he is not acne prone, he broke out on his back for a little while. When you roll around in your sweat, and tons of other peoples sweat, you tend to break out unless you use really strong acne-curing products, and even those dont always work. This could explain why some wrestlers break out.

I don't _just_ look at Bacne as a clear-cut sign of steroid use - but it does perk the ears. Look at Benoit at the Super J Cup and then look at him at the Super Jr Tag League. That boy got bigger and bumpier.

I equate "big push" and "steroids" more anyways.

I think 95% of all of them take some kind of steroid or related supplement at some point.

Angle broke his neck, and came back with NO loss of physique at all.

Obviously some guys take much more roids that others. But i think most of them, even our favorites use something to grow more muscle mass.

I remember Meltzer telling a story once how Jim Ross laughed cause everyone thought only the big slow guys took roids, and not the smaller better worker guys.

hmm... thats sounds kind of accurate, aesthetics wise.

Angle and Lesnar are not on roids and neither are a lot of people on that list.

Now while there is obviously no way to be certain, while my father was trying to lose weight he began speaking on a message board, and eventually began talking to someone who said they went to a Toronto gym. After my father mentioned he watched WWE, the said person told my father that Test goes to the same gym as him, and is *very* roided out. This was about a year ago or so. Judging by his current appearance, I'd definatly take his word for it.

As for Angle, he seemed quite big to me when he made his return. As has been said, steroids are often used to come back from injuries quicker, and I wouldn't doubt this to be the case. Other than that, I haven't noticed much of a change in Angle.

I highly doubt Storm or Jericho are on roids.

And in closing I think Mysterio is, or at least used to be, on steroids.
