Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 Agreed. Especially a team like the Nuggets, who just lost their best player to free agency. Nene Hilario is the future for that team at the PF. I honestly say that of all teams, the Nuggets would need Rodman the least.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted October 7, 2003 the LA papers are reporting that the Clips worked out Glen Rice on Sunday night and will make him an offer on Wednesday when he officially clears waivers. If the "Black Bird" is signed by the Clips, he will likely share minutes at the 2 and 3 with Maggette and Q. Keep up the good work Elgin Baylor.

If the "Black Bird" is signed by the Clips, he will likely share minutes at the 2 and 3 with Maggette and Q. Keep up the good work Elgin Baylor. Is Elgin Baylor retarded? Why in the name of fuck does he keep picking up shooters that can't defend or rebound. Mutumbo was out there and who needs a shotblocker, rebounder that doesn't particarly have to score more than the Clippers. But no, the get a aged, brittle jump shooter that can't defend, rebound, pass, draw fouls, or offer much from the bench(Rice HAS to start to be productive). How this man continues to have a job baffles me more and more every year.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Mutombo is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Knicks either tomorrow or Friday, according to the NY Daily news. And in the "Baylor is retarded...but NOT as retarded as ME" news, the Knicks remain to be idiots. SO. Not only do you draft a 7 foot PF and another PF in the draft along with Antoinio Mcdyess that should be back around mid season and Kurt Thomas and Othello Harrington, and Clarence Weatherspoon. You go pick up ANOTHER big man while your back court and SF position just waves in the wind, ignoring guys like Demarr Johnson, John Wallace and others that could have helped your team. Now you have 7 guys to split time at 2 positions. If Allen Houston gets in foul trouble, this team will be downright funny to watch.
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Stone Hands Mutombo is not going to be much of a factor than what other people think. He'll bitch about not getting minutes if he doesn't start. They're better off Trading one of their 10 undersized PF's they have on that team for a legit SF and PG.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Mutombo, in all likelihood, should start for NY. He'll be a lot more motivated if he does, and could still give you 8 or 9 boards a game and a couple blocks if he is. And YET ANOTHER INJURY for the Pacers, as Austin Croshere pulled his hammy in the Pacers' preseason debut against the Bulls.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 I don't think it was posted here but the Clippers signed former Washington Wizards swingman Bobby Simmons. ... Weird. I pride myself on knowing every NBA player by face and name. Yet...Bobby Simmons is drawing a blank... Hmm...
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Don't worry, he's been very impressive thus far and will most likely make the final roster in place of the likes of Marcus Hatten, Quintin Ross and Tremaine Fawlkes. When he gets a chance to play this year, he will undoubtedly be a decent contributor to the team's run at the No. 8 playoff spot. This is what he looks like:
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Bobby Simmons played at Depaul with Q Richardson, so I've seen him alot when played he for Depaul and he's good, he's never gotten a chance to show what he can do.

alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2003 Suns' alternate road jerseys. Pretty sweet, methinks. EDIT Notable releases that I missed: Suns release Dermarr Johnson. Celtics release Mateen Cleaves. Warriors release Juaquin Hawkins (one of the Rockets' reserves. He didn't get enough love in Houston, IMO. Then again, who does besides Francis and Mobley). GODDAMN YOU COLANGELOS AND YOUR BLIND LOVE FOR JOE JOHNSON. DAMMITT. WHY let go a big, athletic, young 2 guard/sf with talent when a: Penny is aging B: Joe Johnson SUCKS and C: Casey Jacobsen, while a great shooter will not be the scorer that creates his own shots and creates for the team. Joe Johnson has been in Phoenix 3 FUCKING years now and has done absolutly NOTHING to warrent the love the management shows for the guy. Here is Demarr Johnson who has been great in the preseason with precious few minutes, and they let him go. LET HIM GO!!!! GODDAMMITT I hate anything named Colangelo. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2003 I agree with Ripper, although I've literally *never* seen the guy play, I can only go by what I've heard about him, which is nothing but good, and I don't see how the Suns can justify letting him go, at least not this quick. I can also tell you that the blind Joe Johnson love stretches outside of Arizona. I personally see nothing special about the guy either. As for Dermarr, it's unfortunate that a lot of GM's will overlook his immense potential and see him as nothing more than an injury risk. I can only hope for his sake that someone is smart enough to give him another shot. *Nudges Larry Bird* Pacers are kind of short (pun intended) in the SG department... Joe Johnson is always a good pick-up in an NBA videogame for a bench player...for some reason he progresses quite well too(unlike in real life). I remember grabbing him in NBA 2K3 and having him average 17 off the bench...I just whooped the shit out of that game

The Fett 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2003 Word out of Houston is the Rockets are sending Cuttino Mobley and Eddie Griffin to the Celts for Tony Battie and Eric Williams. As badley as Boston got screwed is the Dallas trade, the Rockets are getting screwed twice as much.

As badley as Boston got screwed is the Dallas trade, the Rockets are getting screwed twice as much. Holy shit, I'd take that...I think the Celts also save money on that deal. It has been rumored in Boston that Battie and Williams are the next to go...Ainge isn't taking long rebuilding the franchise to what he wants. Of course I'd rather the Houston trade than the supposed Battie for Rasheed Wallace trade that was being talked about...fuck that
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2003 If Wallace would get in the post a little more, I'd trade Battie for him in a heartbeat.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Except Wallace doesn't have the kind of attitude you want on a team. I don't want him here...he'd cause some kind of trouble
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Thinking about it for a couple of minutes the Houston trade does make some sense. The Celts have 4 people who can play the Center position (newly aquired Rape YoFriends, Mark Blount, Tony Battie, Vin Baker) and the Rockets will need a solid back up for Yao who is not going to be the most rested man this season. Eric Williams can start and for a long time he's given 15points a night consistently and can play fairly good defense. The Celts get that second scorer in Mobley who can take the SG position which will allow Pierce to move back to his natural position of SF. If you're a Rockets fan and the trade goes through you'll love Battie because he gives you his all, same with Eric Williams...I'd love to see them both stay but they don't fit the new system Ainge is puting out
