Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Sorry, guys, but I've been waiting for 5 years now for Christian to show me something in the ring...and now that he's wearing Intercontinental gold, I find myself STILL waiting. If a hoss was as brutally boring on offense as Christian is, you guys would be all over his ass. Christian is like the 6'1" equivalent of Test. He can bump like a madman, but the problem is that he's a heel and his offense seems to consist solely of stomps, chokes, and chinlocks. Oh, and about 2 moves that involve an inverted facelock. Now I am no big fan of Booker T...he's sloppy, blows spots left and right, and gets winded very easily. But I would DEFINITELY rather see the gold around his waist than Reso's. It's really a shame, because Reso is very entertaining on the mic, but goddamn...his offense is so 1989. I think that his limitations as a worker is one of the main reasons that his previous pushes have failed. The guy is definitely hilarious to us smarks, and an annoying little shit who can rub the marks the wrong way. But when he's done talking and actually steps foot in the ring...bleh. I always found it ironic that he had the most elaborate pyrotechnics entrance in all of professional wrestling, but didn't have the ability to deserve a single spark of it. The only time that he has ever been involved in a classic is when its TLC, the ultimate gimmick match. And he's got five other guys to make him look good in those. Sorry, but I agree with J.R....Christian IS the luckiest I.C. champ of all time.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Report post Posted July 1, 2003 I hate to say it, but I agree. Every time I turned my head to the TV during Christian/Booker, I saw Christian with a chin lock. His offense has become horrible, not to mention his finisher is cool looking, but sucks. He is great on the mic, but he is a tag wrestler for life. No doubt about it. Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted July 1, 2003 I agree, if Christian was 7 inches taller, everyone would be all over the guy despite his mic work, and in my opinion even that is overrated. I mean its good but nothing outside of the basics of being a heel. He has quite possibly the most absolute horrible offense known to man and I've watched Crash Holly matches before dammit. Frankly, I've seen the Big Show have consistently more watchable matches than Christian. As mentioned, he's an excellent bumper but he's a heel and doesn't wrestle in a TLC match every week, so thats kind of cancelled out. He's someone John Tenta should have been squashing back in 1991, not the reigning IC champ.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Why are you calling him Reso? Just call him Christian........if you're going to do that you should've started calling Booker...."Huffman".
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Actually, I think his mic skills are overrated too. He looked good in those E and C skits playing off of Edge and vice versa, but by himself, he's no great shakes. As for his ring skills, that is where the tag team wrestler label comes in handy. With Edge, they were doing TLC matches and working with other great teams like the Duds and Hardyz. Now he has to conform to the WWE style of punchy kicky shit and it just doens't work for him. Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 1, 2003 MMM...It seems every tuesday someone seems compelled to make another X sucks thread... Interesting how that is...think that should point something out? Oh maybe that...HE SUCKS!
Guest Muzz Report post Posted July 1, 2003 If the booking were better, there's a chance we wouldn't have this thread. Sadly I have to agree, the numerous chinlocks and slow offence is frustrating to watch. What's worse is that when he did a chinlock, he put little effort into it. Although, I'd rather have a RAW sucks thread as Christian is still light years better than other workers on the brand. If there is a slight glimmer of hope, embrace it. Guest croweater Report post Posted July 1, 2003 I have no beef with Christian as IC champion, but he is being booked as a weak champion which I don't agree with. He's good on the mic and will only get better with time. He's average in the ring but has the ability to work good matches. I don't think he's found his niche in singles competition yet but I'm sure he has the potential to pull out some really good matches. Overall Christian has lots of potential and a fair amount of ability. He's one of the best guys on RAW IMO and I find him very entertaining. He needs a bit of carrying at the moment but I think he oculd develope into a great wrestler.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Christian is booked as your typical annoying heel champion. (a la Honky Tonk Man)
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Christian is booked as your typical annoying heel champion. (a la Honky Tonk Man) The difference is, that those guys actually got to win matches. Typically, though cheating or outside interference (i.e. Jimmy Hart's megaphone), but still a win. IIRC, Christian has won exactly *1* match since becoming IC Champ, and it was the tag match 2 Raw's ago, and even then the Book/Christian story took a backseat to the Test/Steiner feud. LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Yeah........the fact that he never wins or does stupid shit to get DQ'ed is very weak and if they were gonna do that then they shouldnt have put the belt on him at all. With that being said, The guy with his multiple chinlocks and constant stalling is just boring to watch. I don't know what it is because when he debuted in WWE under Gangrel he was pretty exciting to watch. It looks like he's forgotten all of his offense, or maybe it was just that Booker was really gassed.....i dont know
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Christian is AWFUL in the ring. I hope they get the belt off of him ASAP. I remember a while back someone said Christian was better then Edge- that makes me laugh
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted July 1, 2003 it was anglesault during his i-hate-edge campaign. i listed several edge matches that demonstrated that edge was a better wrestler and he feebly came back with a below average rock-christian match right after christian's heel turn or the night of. while i agree with everything said about christian being below average, this is really old news since i have been saying this for about a year. Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Yea- I don't think people have noticed it until now since he's getting a big push. You're not gonna bitch about his poor workrate when no one cares about him

Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Christian is booked as your typical annoying heel champion. (a la Honky Tonk Man) That's a horrible thing to do, compare Christain to the Honky Tonk Man. Come on, at least Hinky was entertaining. Christian is just the cure for insomnia. Guest Markingout Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Christian is letting himself go, his body is bad. By the end of the Booker T match last night he looked very winded and was very slow to perform offense. Christian I still like him a bit, he still has time to learn. ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 WOW I never thought I would see a thread dissing Christian. Ive always liked Christian's in ring work. Then I check the WWE folder and there is a Christian sucks! thread. I thought most all Smarks loved Christian and his character and now lots of guys are bashing his work and character. I taped Raw last night hoping to see how they do Kane's face, but what I wound up watching again was Christian/Booker. Despite the couple of chinlocks, I thought the match was pretty exciting. I also like his gimmick and am enjoying his feud with Booker T. I like how he keeps finding ways to escape with the title. At Summerslam, Booker T will finally win gold. Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Hm. Maven and Booker have the same last name. Weird. They're cousins or something. Oh, and Christian, in-ring, isn't brutally bad, but he's boring nonetheless. Of course, one of his trademark moves is apparently Steiner's finisher now, so that definitely doesn't help. I still love his mic-work, though.
Guest Shanghai Kid Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Christian does suck. I'm glad somebody has pointed that out since the general consensus around here was that 'Christian is good'. Overrated mic skills and boring offense. You can't blame bad booking on those two things.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 I don't see what's wrong with his mic skills. He has a very smooth delivery and he get's the crowd pissed at him like he sets out to do. I do agree that his wrestling skills are lacking, but his match with Booker last night was pretty good.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 1, 2003 The chinlocks were heat spots trying to rally the crowd in bookers favour - the WWE _always_ does these.... in almost every single match that goes over 3 minutes.... it's really fucking repetitive... So I don't really blame Christian for wrestling "that old school style", nor do I blame him for the lack of moveset - these are all office things. The WWE has made the conscious decision to limit guys - especially heels - and especially cowardly heels. Christian milked the crowd in the match, which is something you generally don't see, and got heat from it. Could he have been more exciting? Yeah. Do I blame him for not being? No. That's the "new" WWE for ya. The same went for Rhyno vs. Benoit a few weeks ago.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Benoit and Rhyno worked that match once. Christian has always worked that style as a heel as far back as the entire E & C heel run. Even during the TLC matches, Christian mostly did the bumping while Edge actually delivered offense. Don't get me wrong, the guy does a decent back-and-forth style match but just can't handle actually being in control of a match and never has been. It's not like they're pairing him back, this is how he's done business for years now.

Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted July 1, 2003 The only singles match that I've ever enjoyed Christian in was his debut against TAKA at Judgment Day. And I guess his ladder match with Edge was alright, even if it was disappointing.
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 I dont get how you can bash Christian's mic skills. The point of having mic skills are to get fans to love you or hate you. Christian gets more heat than anyone on Raw(without the Rock of course).
LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Here's the story: Edge = Better worker, charisma, look Christian = Better mic skills End of story
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Christian will always be stuck with and looked upon as having "the whiny little brother" role. Ever since him and Edge broke their silence, Christian always had the "cowardly" routine, but even Edge had that when he was a heel. I mean its kinda good he got he got pushed, it shows he's moving on up. His last time as IC champ only lasted a month due to the sibling rivalry feud and the last thing he accomplished as a singles guy was being the European champion, I'm not sure if you want to count that, or if it worked, or how long the angle lasted. Pretty through 2002, he didn't do squat other than starting the year off as the EC and having a 3-month long tag title reign with Jericho. I think Christian would be a more credible IC Champion if he quit the coward's way (Acting cowardly is another reason why HHH is hated). He's improved over the years, but being the heel, most likely he'll still be the wuss. The man does know how to get heat so that's a plus. When he fought Goldberg, I felt bad for Christian. The Unprettiter is a bad ass finisher. Jay Leno Vs. Jay Reso
