The One and Only Are You Gonna Be A Dumbass

The game's good for freeware but never in a million years would I pay more than $5 for it. I mean today I was looking through the relationships and no Hogan/Jimmy Hart? Japanese commitments honored before a big bucks job with a global fed? The most sorriest, biggest copout of a roster split. Only way I'll see EWR 5 is if it goes on Kazaa.

Only huge tools and geeks would even consider paying that much for TWR/EWR 5. I can get Halo for $35 at Best Buy, but NO! I must buy EWR instead. Yeah. Right. Give me a break.

 ...ok, that's nice that you won't pay for an EWR 5. Problem is, is that there isn't an EWR 5.0 in production so you can't possibly pay for it if it isn't going to be made.

Now if you are speaking of Total Extreme Warfare, I might understand. Then again, this isn't going to be a hobby for Adam, but he'll be working on it 40 hours a week professional. All the bugs and stuff will be fixed up.

Heck. With all the professional stuff at his disposal, he might bring out a simulator that really defines what a simulator is. I wouldn't pass judgment on something you haven't seen or heard about yet.

I wouldn't pay to play it. I hardly play the game when I get it for free anyway

If you don't like the game, fine. That's understandable. Yet, still what's the point of this thread really?

It's a declaration of an opinion that could readily have been done in the EWR thread that the top of the board. And probably would get better responses being in there.

Unless it's got actual THQ/Yukes style wrestling matches IN THE FUCKING GAME....or unless I can create a character and walk around offices fucking young woman wrestlers anytime I see them and then go and watch matches I wont pay any money for it. Alll the other EWAs are basically just a FUCKING TON of menus. I wil wait and see but if its even near to any of the other ones then im not paying for it.

Ryland has certainly earned it. It's not like Adam Jennings can release Promotion Wars 2 and then say, "Give me 35 dollars for Promotion Wars 3."

Adam has consistently released a quality game. Even if you don't play it that much, you can't deny that it's a solid game. Since .400 Software was the former home of the Out Of The Park Baseball series, arguably the best baseball simulator EVER, now that they're backing TEW, it can only mean good things.

I'm unsure of whether I'd shell out 35 dollars for it, that is yet to be seen, but for those of you looking for a "free trial," if any of the .400 Software games are an indication, they will use a system where the game is not sold on CD, but sold using e-licenses. Which is why I've never seen a warez version of OOTP 3-5. So, yeah.

I lose interest in each version far too fast to consider paying for it.

Appaently, because Adam is doing it professionaly and selling it. It is illegal for Adam to use Real Wrestlers and promotions. Therefore TEW will be filled with Fake wrestlers and promotions. Which Gurentees that i will not pay money for it.

RaveX will most likely release a 'real wrestlers' patch to go with it.

Ooo the technicalities. I'm really sorry for mistaking TEW, EWR 5, and overhyped, overpriced computer software. They all seem the same :(

The bugs aren't the problem. It's the details and ideas. Frankly he has some pointless things in that game when there could be much better things added.

Hell, it took four versions to get a damn feud hype video.

He hasn't grasped the concept of charisma having to be split into aura and mic skills.

There's no six way match which has been around since September of 1998 and we're four versions along and in August 2003.

There's no hardcore battle royal or 24/7 angle. Hell you can't even do hardcore in a four way.

There's a sorry excuse for a roster split in the game.

Written workers can't work for Japan....WHAT?! Does anyone but me remember WWE's Japan tours or WCW stars going over to NJPW for a few days every few months?

Yet, he's added the ever important "Charity" and "Found religion" incident and an obscene assload of indy workers. Yes because I'd rather hire Backyard Bob and have a Bret Hart segment bomb because he never the lit the mic on fire than have a hardcore four way.

All this folks and more for only $35.

Order now to get access to such features as:

A singles match

A tag match

Over 1 billion indy workers

No real workers

Ability to donate to charity

and....

NUDIE PICS OF CHARISMA CARPENTER~!

OMG B00BZ FOR THE N00BZ~!

Yeah, I don't really see how they expect this to be a success. The game is occasionally fun, but all the professionalizing in the world isn't going to make a booking simulator programmed in Visual Basic worth buying. What further upgrades can he do to make the game worth paying for?

There'll probably be a very low overhead, but I still can't see it being a hit outside the freeware market.

Ooo the technicalities. I'm really sorry for mistaking TEW, EWR 5, and overhyped, overpriced computer software. They all seem the same :(

You know, you have to learn when a joke is made. I wasn't trying to outright be an ass, and if you took it as that, sorry for making it out to be.

And you know, if you don't care about the game and that why are you even bothering with a thread like this? I mean, seriously, if you don't like it that it will cost money I understand. But it's still pointless to put this up if all this is going to turn into is a whole bunch of people being pissy and moany about the game costing money. Hell, I'm not sure I'm paying, but I ain't about to bitch about something that I have no idea about. We've got no specifics yet, as the game's just in the starting phases. How the hell does one pass judgement?

That's like saying that Square's Final Fantasy XII will rock. Will it? Who knows, we've got nothing on the game, and hence, I don't see anyone saying that yet. Besides Square fanatics.

The bugs aren't the problem. It's the details and ideas. Frankly he has some pointless things in that game when there could be much better things added.

He was only using Visual Basics at the time. Depending on how much he knows about VB, will determine what he can and can't put into the game. There are also limits to VB as well and some of the things might go above and beyond what the engine of EWR was made to do.

Besides, he's only been working on this as a hobby. He's only one guy doing this two to three hours a day if that. You expect him to have a professional copy? Wow. You have high expectations for a game that was just a hobby for him for the last 8 years.

Hell, it took four versions to get a damn feud hype video.

You talk about how he added pointless things and then bring this up. This is absolutely useless other than to be used as a way to get the feud up higher in heat. Unless the guys are on open contracts, I seriously don't get this. I mean, why have a video when you can have one guy cut a promo on another guy, or hit him up backstage, or them get into a heated convo. It really isn't needed except for if you need an extra slot filled or pre Monthly Event. There's no real purpose to this.

There's no six way match which has been around since September of 1998 and we're four versions along and in August 2003.

There's no hardcore battle royal or 24/7 angle. Hell you can't even do hardcore in a four way.

There's a sorry excuse for a roster split in the game.

And he's been making as many improvements as he can within the game. Some make it in, some don't. The guy has been doing this as a hobby, so be happy he's been able to improve it a lot more than when it originally came out (and I'm talking like EW1000 here). Sure, some stuff should be in, but it doesn't mean it's the end of the world if it isn't included.

Hardcore battle royal? Point of this is what? For a hardcore title? Why not just throw a battle royal together, throw your "hardcore title" as the prize and let her go. I mean, there is 10 man there, why not use that?

The roster split isn't a sorry excuse. He explained that it is only for spliting up the roster to make it more managable. There was no way he could program it into EWR without having to scrap it and remodel the whole thing. And he wasn't about to do that.

He hasn't grasped the concept of charisma having to be split into aura and mic skills.

That Aura thing is hard to attribute to a person that's in an Indy fed. If they've got such a high "aura" skill, then why hasn't any big named Indy fed or WWE signed him? How would "Aura" work? Considering most skits need someone to talk, wouldn't the mic skills in essense be needed for all of them? Look at most of those one on one angles. If a person is doing a "Run In Attack", why would he do so? Other than if they were feuding, it would be because that person in the ring is talking smack about them. For "Finisher Theft" you'd still have the guy (who steals his opponents finisher) talking off about how he's so good, he can use his opponents own finisher on him.

Really, most of them need some sort of mic skills attached to them. Hence why they aren't split.

Besides, explain to me how "aura" would work? What would it define to be an actual stat?

Written workers can't work for Japan....WHAT?! Does anyone but me remember WWE's Japan tours or WCW stars going over to NJPW for a few days every few months?

Uh, those are tours put on by the company they are working for. Besides, I'm just happy it finally got included into the game that they have tours. Again, it's something to improve on, but you can't expect perfection first time around.

Yet, he's added the ever important "Charity" and "Found religion" incident and an obscene assload of indy workers. Yes because I'd rather hire Backyard Bob and have a Bret Hart segment bomb because he never the lit the mic on fire than have a hardcore four way.

Sure, charity and the new incident aren't the greatest thing to add, but they were something different.

There is an bunch of indy workers because the game is a wrestling simulator. It's not about "run the WWE" but have a taste of what the wrestling world is like. Besides, you can't always sign who's the best out there. You have to take what you can and work with it.

Bret Hart wasn't the best mic guy out there, he could speak it and make it sound good, but really even I, Hitman fan, admit that he wasn't Godly on the mic.

All this folks and more for only $35.

 Wow. You know, for a moment, I was taking you seriously, till that last part. Really was. Now I don't. Adam will have a whole professional studio behind him, working on it at least 40 hours a week and you bitch because "oh, EWR wasn't that great that MUST mean this game bites ass too"? Shit. You're just as bad as anyone who craps all over a game before they've even seen anything about it.

Oh and in regards to that "no real workers". RaveX will be have a database you can download to have all the real workers you want, as soon as TEW is good to go. So since you CAN get the real workers on the day of the release there's no real reason to complain.

What further upgrades can he do to make the game worth paying for?

Who's to know until it is done? That's why I'm wondering why the hell everyone is complaining about the game. We know nothing, we don't know what Adam will be able to do with full resources behind him, so why slander the game before it's out?

I don't know if it'll be a hit outside of the freeware market myself, but who knows? We have to wait and find out what it is all about, and THEN make a judgement. Not before the fact.

The game is fun and all, but I have kind of soured on it, I guess that's MY fault for starting a 3.0 game a week before 4.0 came out. But hell, how was I supposed to know it would come out so soon? I was still mad when I couldn't use my saved game in 4.0 My fed based on me and my friends had JUST taken off with established champions and all that. I was preparing to go on a year long HHH like reign of terror with the belt and then, BOOM, I have to start over.

Besides the host angle and the worker suggestions, there's not too much new to this game to rave about. There's ALOT missing. Hopefully, with a BRAND NEW game engine and some great graphics, TEW will be something to buy. I can't really imagine a text based game selling for $35. It's got to have at least WWF Attitude graphics to sell.

You CAN convert saved games. My friend and I have been doing the same one since 2.0.

LF, I'll get reply to your individual comments some time tonight just wanted to see if there were any short responses.

:P No problem. Actually, you don't really have to. I understand you point, I'm just hitting the fact we don't know, so why bitch at this time?

And plus, I made one or two comments that I want to take back as they were asinine and not really that great. Sorry about that.

That's the big reason why I won't want to buy it. But even if there is a 'real wrestlers' patch to it, I wouldn't consider paying upwards of more than $9.95-$14.95 for it. I can LIVE without EWR just fine, or get it warez-style from some guy who did buy it for $35. I mean, what can you seriously make in a wrestling simulator game to make it worth THAT much money???

Now, I've said before, we don't know what TEW is going to be. Therefore, how do we judge? Wait till it's got something tangibal before us before we cry "fuck this, this will be shit".

Who knows? Maybe there will be enough there to warrent buying. Till I've got more to work with than just "oh, it's $39.95", I won't make a judgement.

If it has everything that the site says it will have, I'll buy it. I really enjoy text-sims, and running the fed. That's something that a lot of North American wrestling Video Games have been missing. A "booker" mode.

My only suggestion, would be, if not for this version coming out - then for a future version - but to take a look at the possibility of having online compatibility for the game. IE: two players over the net, running two promotions [or two rosters within one promotion] and competing for ratings, etc. That would rock.

If it had the afformentioned online-capability feature, would you pay that much?
